  1. With CBS being a total dumpster fire now (their O&O's have had problems for decades), sadly this could be a future reality. Ever since the O&O's became "localized", they've been a shell of their former selves. In most of the markets where they overlap, Fox is the dominant station operator. And for those of us old enough to remember, this wouldn't be the first time the two companies shacked up...

  2. As opposed to Nexstar, Sinclair, or Allen possibly scooping the stations up? This board would lose their damn minds if that was ever the case. Fox is far from a worst-case scenario for these stations. There are a handful of larger markets where Fox does not own a station (Denver, Miami come to mind) which means nothing would likely change at those properties. Where there is overlap (LA, NY have been mentioned already) hopefully a plan can be devised to maintain a certain degree of separation outside of major events and breaking coverage. Hell- many of these stations have already been sharing things like a chopper for years now. the next few weeks will reveal those plans if this is deal is being considered.

  3. Seems like whoever takes the CBS Evening News anchor spot is on a losing mission from day one. How many people had the chair since Katie Couric? Tony takes the anchor spot and then two year later, he’s working the 4am anchor spot on CNN. Just be happy where you are and know it’s as good as it gets. Tony comes across a good morning person who can mix hard news and fun segments.

  6. This is just another news share agreement I’ll be okay. I remember when Fox 5 in New York had a news share agreement with NBC4 New York they would refer them as there sister station. I don’t see anything bad coming from this. Chicago also…

  7. Netflix only wanted the WB library content and movie studio I don't think this will be approved in my opinion by the government and in international markets as well. I think WBD just wanted a knight & shining armor to buy part of them so that Skydance/Paramount didn't get everything. I don't think it makes Netflix's too big for buying WB studios and library content in my opinion I don't see the red flags in this deal.

  10. The two groups obviously have different owners, so this would pass legal muster with any FCC dating back to Mark Fowler, despite being an affront to the spirit of the original Report on Chain Broadcasting, unlike the various clowncar sidecar companies. In Los Angeles, it would mean operating 4.

  11. I was glad his old home of WCBS dedicated some time to this sad news. You could tell how sad Kristine was to break the news. He certainly has the talent, so I'm hopeful that things will work out for him somewhere.

  13. I'm not sure Tony is any better than Bret when it comes to his on-air political leanings. Bari is apparently picking him for a reason. I just don't see him moving the needle in the right direction.

  14. im still standing firm in my prediction and am willing to bet money on it. In 5 years she heads up I-95 and ends up in New York. I can’t see her going home to Chicago. Philly typically is breeding ground for journalists and meteorologists heading to NY i.e. Shirleen Alicot, Joe Torres, etc. even though those journalists were from NY originally still. I just think she’ll end up there, yeah it hard to get into NY TV Market it’s hard, but I think she’s got it. i could be wrong though!!!

  15. A little bit off topic but I see this woman heading to WABC in the next few years. She is obsessed with New York if you follow her page, now it could be just a good vacation spot but still I see it happening.
