  3. Can we just get out ahead of this one and post this piece of future news for, oh, I don't know... 2027?

  4. I’m totally shocked by this report from The Hollywood Reporter. CBS News seems like a sinking ship rn IMO, but I’m sure he was on his final strike at ABC.

  5. Steve Weagle's final broadcast after 27 years at WPTV. He said he planned to retire four years ago... glad he stuck around for more time. But now... he's done. At least he gets to retire before Christmas.

  6. I saw this. I'm glad, though a bit disappointed that he didn't cover the Seven Network, considering their use of The Mission and several variations of it since then.

  7. I didn't want to say it but you took the words right out of my mouth. At least Nate would give viewers some excitement and uniqueness with his new suits every night. Looking at CBS' blatant stability issues I'm gonna be pessimistic and say I have no faith that this is going to work. If their solution copying ABC, NBC is is already doing so, Norah was copying aswell and look how that worked. Both networks have managed to retain the same host for a decade, in NBC's case they did this twice. How bad did the current version have to be doing in the ratings to be blown up in six months?? On the subject of stability: Vs NBC

  13. CBS News has a center left undertone in its reporting. CBS going down THAT rabbit hole at a time like this would be a major mistake. If they supposedly wanted someone from Fox, Shepherd Smith would've been the better candidate. CBS still arguably delivers the best journalistic product of the big three networks, so it sucks to see them struggle this much.

  14. The left is not afraid of anything CBS News is doing. CBS News is not and has never been left wing, so CBS News shifting right to appease a far right dictator so Paramount can get away with buying WB Discovery is not a loss for the left. Your claim that "A right slant would differentiate itself from the competitors" ignores that FNC is already competing against CBS Evening News with a right wing "newscast". Even if they somehow manage to get Bret to leave Special Report, FNC is still the way more established ratings leader for right wing programming at 6:30pm ET. Not only would they have to compete against FNC, but there are also outlets like OAN and Newsmax producing right wing newscasts in this slot. The people currently watching the CBS Evening News are not far right, so this shift will just result with them losing the small audience they currently have while the right wing audience addicted to FNC continues to watch FNC at 6:30pm. On top of this, a right wing newscast will be a terrible lead-in / lead-out for local CBS stations in the top major markets which are very left wing. FOX doesn't air right wing news on its local stations because it knows this doesn't make sense from a business standpoint, Paramount knows CBS News going right is not going to help the audience levels of the CBS News programming, it's being done to help Paramount overall under an authoritarian government.

  15. Not only that, Dana Jacobson and Michelle Miller will leave the network and that's a darn shame.

  16. Bream would be the likely choice for Special Report if Baier were to leave. Or they could just expand 'The Five' to two hours. How about no slant at all? News organizations shouldn't be taking a side.

  17. Apparently Nate Burelson is expected to be out as CBS Mornings undergoes a major overhaul with Gayle and Tony rumored to be taking new assignments.
