  1. I would rather have PBS's rules than CBS's. There's another rule with PBS's values... "I am not in the entertainment business."

  2. Not sure that's fair... . ...to New Coke.

  3. Along with a new anchor and format (that will last just as long as new Coke), CBS also updated their values from a 38 page hand book to a simple five. Meanwhile, PBS has had the same values/guidelines since Robert MacNeil was doing the show for half an hour.

  4. Dokoupil, anchoring the CBS Evening News two nights before his scheduled launch, is doing a long live interview with former Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Pete Hegseth. It feels like two frat bros hanging out, complete with Dokoupil gleefully repeating Hegseth's "Mauro effed around and found out" line. The interview was so long that it had two commercial breaks during it.

  6. Very funny how ABC manages to do the “ain’t America great!” beat without seeming alienating like this; CBS I don’t see succeeding in the same way

  7. High doubtful (it wasn't even memorable when it was the WB/CW affiliate in Columbus before it became a Pappas orphan like WIWN). This feels like a vanity project where someone thinks must-carry on Atlanta cable means that it's a magic wand to attract viewers, not knowing that WATL, WPCH and WANF already has that audience (and WUPA still has spillover), or can't stand Atlanta's gossip scene. If Hot 97 TV lasts a year, I'd be shocked. Easy to explain as it was moved from KCCI's MeTV channel (where it's aired since 2016); they didn't air on Saturdays to stay out of Svengoolie's way. Obviously even without the need to work around Berwyn-based hijinks, there too Fox overruns make it a nightmare to maintain a Saturday at 9pm newscast.

  8. Actually, I got another retirement... the amazing, legendary Beau Weaver. The voice of Good Day Sacramento, WPLG in my market of Miami, KDVR Denver, and others is retiring and was featured on GDS as a result.

  9. All I know is that CBS missed an opportunity to plug the new Evening News for free on ABC last night... Lots of shots of the old Times Square studio- still with the CBS News branding on it. Digital billboard on the building was rotating Mornings, Sunday Morning, RuPaul, and the Old CBSEN. Credit to ABC for doing the best they could to keep the Viacom Building out of the shot.

  10. UPDATE He has since passed away. A giant in hurricane forecasting, he was 94. https://www.khou.com/article/news/local/dr-neil-frank-dies/285-26cc29fe-18ee-4e47-bdf3-5039367c021a

  11. After 11 years in the business, its soon coming to a close for WPBF's Vanessa Vinent. The next 10 or so-ish days will be her last there. https://www.facebook.com/vanessavinentwpbf/posts/pfbid02VUwZShX7ErkDELxkxo3PTvyoFAo27Cci659X8JPmGHKHY6Yfvf67rtpX6fFQprE2l This comes as Jennifer Correa ended her brief two-year tenure at WPTV today and is also leaving the business. Times are changing... One more unrelated note, but also a BIG retirement coming up... KSDK's Mike Bush will be wrapping up a 41-year run... but not until August of 2026. Started in 1985 doing sports, and transitioned to news in 2002, meaning he's done 17 years doing the former and 24 years doing the latter. In the meantime, he'll participate in a few activities, according to the station... KSDK's move to 1001 Highlands Plaza Drive next month. NBC's coverage of yet another Winter Olympics in Italy. Mix that in with NBC's coverage of Super Bowl 60 from Santa Clara. All the winter (currently) and storm seasons that are expected in the region. That's all before he retires in August 2026. Not a bad way to wrap up a legendary run in St. Louis. https://www.ksdk.com/article/about-us/ksdk-legendary-anchor-mike-bush-announces-retirement-date/63-fcb1f5af-82f7-48b3-8359-e5a6977f51c6
