  3. While I wouldn't wear a suit with tennis shoes myself, I don't find an issue with Dale wearing them in the open. I think it is the station's attempt to make him more relatable. Even though he is a news anchor, he wants to be in with the trends, etc. If you pause the open, you will see in Margot's shots that she is wearing a strapless shirt while surrounded by her family. Again, not an issue. I like that the ABC stations group uses these opens to make their people apppear to be more human and not your average robotic news anchor.

  5. not to be nitpicky, but the talent open with Dale Yurong wearing a suit and tennis shoes?? very tacky. I understand the need and most wear tennis shoes that usually aren't seen on camera, but in promos and opens, come on put on dress shoes to look half way decent and professional

  6. I always have mixed feelings on these kinds of things... On one hand he can point at things... on the other hand the things he's pointing at are necessarily a lot smaller on the screen than they would be in full screen with him narrating since he has to be able to point at them. 3-D graphical elements that are projected next to the person reporting that they can point at... those are more impressive. So if there was a car graphic sitting on the floor there...

  7. Indeed-- if you're billed as talent in a major network station's local newscast (regardless of your function), you need to look like you take pride in being there and part of it (would have been worse if the shoes were dirty).

  8. So it is being reported that Gayle King praised the new far right MAGA boss at the CBS town hall. Does she have no shame? If it's about money i'm sure Oprah would be fine lending her some money so she doesn't have to continue embarrassing herself hosting a morning show that keeps hitting record low ratings with her as host. Give it up Gayle, you failed at every TV job you had. It should be a blessing a far right disgrace wants to get rid of you because nobody is watching the show you host, yet she is doing whatever she can to please Bari to keep her overpaid job. So pathetic She also criticized "leakers". What kind of journalist is against whistle blowers? A "journalist" who works for CBS "News" I guess.

  9. As we all know, 2026 will be a big year for NBC due to the Olympics, Super Bowl 60, NBA, MLB, NFL, other sports, plus the busy political cycle with President Trump and the midterms so I get why NBC 5 has been making these moves. Last year, NBC 5 lured away Chuck Goudie from ABC 7 to strengthen the investigative team and now this year with Lou Canellis from FOX 32 to strengthen the sports coverage, and as the station becomes highly sampled, they obviously want that momentum from these events to continue beyond these periods, which goes into why they made the investment into new digital proof-state of the art studios, integration with Telemundo Chicago for extended resources, better reporting, and investigative content, as well as being more present in the communities across the Chicagoland region. The other stations in town better watch out because NBC 5 will be highly sampled this year and may slowly take a half or more of the ratings cake away from channel 7. They have done it before during parts of the 1990s, 2010s, and they might do it again. The NBC O&O stations are in a state of momentum right now due to the stations prioritizing stability and substance, and it is paying off in the ratings, so we will see what happens in Chicago.

  10. People do not need to be rabid fans to recognize the brand. Brand equity and recognition matters. Sometimes of course there is a good reason to move on from a brand, but there are more cases it has far more downside risk than upside potential.

  11. The only accurate statement in that ad is that allowing Nexstar to buy Tegna will help MAGA. The keep "local TV local" is 100% false. Allowing Nexstar to own more "local" stations does the exact opposite of keeping them "local". The "local" stations owned by Nexstar are anything but local. All decisions for the stations are made by Nexstar. Nexstar decides what programming they air, what programming they buy, and what programming they pre-empt regardless if it makes sense for the local station or the local market. The "local" station has ZERO say in any of the decisions for the station, it's all up to Nexstar. They are forced to air far right Nexstar propaganda, forced to promote and broadcast content from the far right horribly rated disgrace known as NewsNation. A foreign company would do a better job at running local U.S. stations than Nexstar. U.S. television media is now among the worst in the world for pro-government bias. It's no different than state TV in other authoritarian countries.

  12. Honestly, I'm surprised smaller broadcasters such as Graham, Hearst, Morgan Murphy, and others haven't spoken out in opposition to this deal.
