  3. A very bittersweet departure for a KSWB original. It was 18 years ago when KSWB launched its news department and Chrissy Russo came from XETV to help launch their morning news (5-9am at the time). Now, after all that time, including an ownership change, she has decided to retire and has left the building today. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DW9W7gmD70B/?igsh=MWxpdm1xbmpwbDJwZA==

  4. TRO is modified and extended to April 17, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PDT so judge can make a decision. The States submitted a good chunk of evidence yesterday under seal, and DirecTV filed a brief arguing Nexstar submitted undated documents that don't include pre-merger agreements, or much that proves assertions about Tegna planned cost cutting before the merger we can't read the sealed documents but it sounds like either Nexstar was required to absorb TEGNA due to the Bank of America's high-interest 7-day bridge loan and upcoming bond sale, i think 3-4 days later, or they anticipated what the States might do with their pending lawsuit, and moved to absorb TEGNA quickly since courts have limited power on how far back they can rewind the merger. The judge will probably bring that up in his final decision.

  5. I don't blame him. He thought he hit the jackpot when The Weather Channel (which was owned by a consortium of Blackrock and NBC at the time) offered him the chance to do his own morning show. Not only did the show not work out but the channel went to shit too under Allen ownership. I would try to get back together with GMA if I were Sam Champion too.

  6. Another hour of weekday news on WUPA starting next Monday as the progression of its news expansion (just like WWJ) continues. CBS News Atlanta at 5:00 will soon come your way with Sharon Lawson (who already does the 6:00 and 11:00pm). https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/wupa-expands-local-news-programming-with-launch-of-5pm-weekday-newscast/

  7. It isn’t the act of traveling that Peter was referencing; it was being away from his family, especially his young daughters. Once kids move into high school, Friday nights become about hanging out with their friends, not their parents. Peter sees the window of time with his kids closing and has decided to make a career move to keep him DC-based. He said as much on the air. If someone doesn’t like NBC News, that’s fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But let’s not imply an on-air person has an ulterior motive that fits a personal perspective about how NBC reports on the government. It isn’t fair to the person who went on national television to publicly say he is prioritizing his kids.

  8. If anything, their news coverage is improved since leaving NBC News. Their international news coverage is just fine with reporters from AP, Reuters, Sky News, CNBC World, and other international stations. They are now getting scoops on their own. The split has just reaffirmed that NBC News provided zero value to the network, if anything it was holding the network back.

  9. HA! Now that’s good lawyering. What the heck was Nexstar thinking making a claim in front of a judge that your own SEC filing disputes. Begs the question, which audience were they lying to??
