  1. Surprised no one mention KFXL's tower collapsing. They're off the air OTA but still provided on cable. http://foxnebraska.com/news/local/tower-falls-in-lincoln Cause as yet unknown, but there were very high winds in Lincoln last week.

  3. Easy, that's the tail end of Production Music: Industrial Power, better known as the theme of Independent Network News from 1980-1984.

  6. Wow... Did ya see the old internet machine* that reporter was poking at his desk? It was next to the white object that looked like a hair dryer with numbers on the little wheel*. And did ya see that map on the wall? They say people used to "read" those maps and go places. *Typewriter made letters on paper *Dial Telephone...too complicated to explain tom you kids

  7. Next up from bigO playbax- a KETV Newswatch 7 promo (with News People)! Anchors include KTXL's Ted Mullins, WTLV's Marcia Ladendorff, Charlie Martin (Levy) of TWC doing weather, and Boise's Wayne Dzubak on sports.

  8. WOKR in 1987... WHO in 1989... A March 1994 KPNX tease with Sean McLaughlin (!) and Ron Hoon (!): Not news material, but certainly rare. ASPN (not a typo!) was something of Arizona's first RSN, as it had the rights to the Suns and high school football telecasts (it's the predecessor to what's now YurView Arizona in that regard):

  9. At 2:31 on this video is heard the theme Telefe used by its newscasts between 1990 and 1992. But I'm sure they never composed something hardcore like this. I'm suprised that theme wasn't rejected because of the standards.

  10. http://www.cbs19.tv/mobile/article/news/cbs19-is-brand-new-in-the-mornings/485419384 KYTX has made changes to its morning show after the departure of previous co-anchor Clint Yeatts. The news show will now be dubbed "The Morning Loop" (other than KYTX being located on Loop 323 in Tyler, I'm not sure why that name). A new co-anchor, Mike Davis, will join recently-promoted Jen Moynihan (previously a weekend anchor at KYTX); the new anchors and new name will begin Oct. 30.

  11. Sounds like some additional anchor changes at WVIT. What happened to Tara Joyce at 4pm? Interesting that they're splitting up the 5pm show.

  15. Here's a 1983 WTVH newsbreak with an unknown theme. Their graphics look like the same ones from the 1970s, hence the old "5" logo (Meredith made the "5"s less round by the early 80s) and what looks like Dolphin Productions graphics.

  17. Two WNJU news briefs from September 1995. The bed in the second one is Global Plan by DeWolfe IIRC (it was used by Canal 13/Chile as well):

  18. Time Warner Cable had enough mergers. Having one with NY1 would be problematic.

  19. I would not support that a merger I am glad Charter bought it out

  22. I kinda wish Fios expanded their FIOS 1 operation to NYC but I doubt that would happen they expanded to Hudson Valley in 2014 besides Fios 1 is a partnership with WRNN TV

  23. I mean that not a lot of people that I know had Charter before it had Time Warner Cable. I didn’t mention anything about bootleg cable boxes. Yeah, I meant that it was a tri-state operation. However, it doesn’t carry every area of New York City (Staten Island and Queens) and most of upstate New York.
