1. And the good news is NBC already has a brand new set assembled for the show...

 2. Goodbye WUSF-TV 16. The public television station has officially signed off for good. This is the first video of the sign off with the legendary classic words, Goodnight and Good Luck: It's expected to become WEDQ shortly though I don't know if WEDU will put programming there.

 4. The only thing that this spat between Viacom and Charter has done is to make me realize is just how little I actually watch Viacom channels. I'm still on a TWC channel package, but have considered switching to a Charter package to get the faster internet speed. I've avoided it because I would have to bump to the "Gold" package to get the Viacom channels. After this? Eh, Silver is good enough... and with that package, I'd get HBO.

 6. Wow, that WXXA open is voiced by Larry Van Nuys! Also, that KPRC animation must have been made at the same time at this thing. They both have the same problem... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=tvGL7GbJ-6k;t=29

 7. They had no real emphasis to change - as a 180s/190s ranked market with 1 commercial and 1 PBS station (a satellite out of Richmond, I believe). Everything else was out of market on cable; not bad for a one-station college town (reminds me of Bryan/College Station during the mid 80s...). Jim

 8. Then Kane was replaced by Ernie Anastos, in what began his NYC career, and then Bill Beutel joined 11PM in 1989, and then by 1999 he was replaced by Bill Ritter.

 9. What was it with WABC and short-lived anchors from nearby markets in the 1970s? Larry Kane also joined the station for about a year in 1977 before heading back to Philadelphia.

 14. One thing I don't understand: Phil Schwarz did the weather for the 4:30am portion of the morning news while Tracy took over the 5-7am part today. Why? P.S.: I wish I participated in Tracy Butler's Weather Sketchers while I was still a kid.

 16. From March 17, 1992; St. Patrick's Day, and more importantly, primary day in Illinois and Michigan. From WLS, this is World News Tonight (Sam Donaldson in for Peter Jennings), Eyewitness News at 6 (future 6pm team Krashesky and Brock in for Floyd Kalber), and the first few minutes of Wheel of Fortune. Since the opening of the network newscast is cut off, this recording would've aired from about 5:31-6:33pm.

 17. Wait, hold on. Tom Ellis of Boston? How and when did he work at WABC? That's bizarre.
