1. Orlando from 20 years ago! WCPX prior to call sign change and a fairly rare newscast on WRBW (from WFTV)... WRBW (Orlando) May 12, 1997 10:00pm WFTV (Orlando) May 12, 1997 11:00pm WCPX (Orlando) May 15, 1997 6:00pm Again folks, as I find stuff, I post it. Right now, I'm focusing on getting the 20+ year old newscasts. Once I get to the 2000s, I've got tons, and it will take some time just in uploading stuff (just the real time converting and uploading the files takes a while - and I have a full-time+ job and am taking a class in the evenings). I'm going to start linking everything off of a web-site - which will probably become my "Classic Newscast Museum". Once I get stuff posted (and a standard page format developed), I'll let everyone know... Jim

 2. Ugggg... And the KGTV site has an ad blocker thingy on it. They might actually be doing me a favor by blocking it. By being blocked from the KGTV site I find... I'm nicer to people... I'm not subject to BS facebook "like" trolling... I no longer drink and drive... Women talk to me again... My gastro system seems more regular... EDIT: My E.D. is cured!!!! ...Now that KGTV has blocked my ad blocker.

 3. former WAGA morning anchor Gurvir Dhindsa is joining WGCL to be their new morning anchor. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/10/18/crossing-the-street-in-atlanta Excellent hire in my opinion.

 4. WXIA (Atlanta) September 12, 1994 5:30am - I think this package would translate well into HD... Jim

 5. I said the same thing. If he wanted to go that route then he could've brought up Gurvir indiscretions with her time at WTTG on Fox 5 DC ( when she anchored with her current husband ex wife who she was previously having an affair.) Now that's a story but not what he wrote. I wished he had a comment section but he seems the kind that doesn't take to well to criticism (dish it but can't necessarily take it).

 6. 1983 does seem to be when she jumped. On the topic of Duluth... All We Are, We Are For You!

 7. Orlando in the 90s could have been called Vance-lando — both WFTV and WCPX were using E.Q. Vance packages. Speaking of which, a very eagle-eyed viewer of the 11pm video might have caught this... We're Going Where You're Going — a variant of this image campaign I have never seen!

 8. Gotta love World Series week. Fox 32's news ended at midnight, at which point Mark Strehl said he'll be back for Good Day Chicago at 7am. Hope he gets a short cat nap in between shows.

 9. Nothing wrong with a station running only Digi's...they are becoming very popular with the boomers/genx'rs and cord cutters. They will be the new "2nd cable tier" of OTA in time. It also doesn't hurt to own more spectrum so you are ready for the next auction. At $107,000...that's basically a California bathroom remodel.

 10. Broadcast icon Linda Cavanaugh makes big announcement after celebrating 40 years at KFOR. http://kfor.com/2017/10/17/broadcast-icon-linda-cavanaugh-makes-big-announcement-after-celebrating-40-years-at-kfor/ She will be leaving the station in December as Joleen Chaney will succeed her in the anchor chair. As one reads the article, Cavanaugh went on today that she made the decision three years ago in order to give management time to locate a successor, Chaney, therefore, she is apparently not leaving to avoid Sinclair. As a long time KFOR viewer, I wonder how much longer other long time KFOR personalities, Kevin Ogle, Mike Morgan, and Lance West will stick around as they've all been with the station for 20 years or longer.

 12. Close left the 10pm (his own decision) in 1984 and retired from the 6pm on August 26, 1988, doing primarily the noon show until his full retirement on December 22, 1989. Fun fact: Close actually approached KTVK looking for a job in 1982. They rejected his offer!

 13. Actually as of this past week... WYCC no longer airs PBS. WYIN is the market's secondary now.

 14. Try singing "Count on us...NewsCenter 12...count on us" to it. I do believe it's from that package.

 15. The first 8 minutes or so of WXII's news from September 29, 1985 with an unknown theme, could it be related to their "Count On Us" image campaign from back then? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=1blakjbyos0;m=27;s=8 There's also an update in the video with the same theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=1blakjbyos0;m=18;s=41

 16. Conspiracy theory: GDC remains in transition for awhile in the off chance that Sinclair completely blows up WGN Morning News. As for Sylvia not anchoring weekend mornings, that kind of makes sense. She's been anchoring at noon essentially every day with no Darlene around.

 18. For whatever reason, the article on Robert Van Winkle's retirement has been pulled, though it still shows up in Google News. Apparently his mother, who lives in Arizona, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in May, though he had planned to retire before that diagnosis. Allyson Rae returns to Waterman after a stint in DC to replace him. She will become the chief met in November, and Van Winkle will leave in March, depending on what goes on with his mom. Van Winkle has been with Waterman for 31 years, 17 in Charlottesville at WVIR and the last 14 at WBBH.

 22. WEWS definitely had TVbD stuff in the final days of '86, like this Morning Exchange endboard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=MPVOgjoLVV4;t=91 But news promos had not yet changed over: This video, however, is actually from the summer of '87 (the story on Richard Branson's balloon crossing):

 23. So “Good News” debuted in early 1987 then? Also Deborah Gianoulis must’ve taken a break from ‘JXT to report for WPTV at the time... She must’ve been a one-year-stint, because she headed back to Channel 4 shortly after.

 24. His story seems so salacious Gurvir will sit next to Davis on the morning news ; which Gurvir replaced Davis when Davis moved to the evening news. That was 20 years ago.

 25. Smart branding move to help distinguish the two feeds. I could see them attempt to bring the 21.x branding to WSJZ if they move the Fox sub.
