  1. KMTV had the Scripps v.2 weather graphics for years and never used the full package. Scripps doesn't seem to care if the weather computers jump the gun.

  2. You buried the lead... that’s “Streets Of...” heard on somewhere other than KYW!

  5. So regardless of my opinion, the ratings aren't exactly soaring. That's quite enough for me to see that she doesn't make a compelling anchor or ME. That, informing my opinion, doesn't make me look too kindly on the move to DC. Also, since the formatting is pretty much identical across networks, I would have blown that up instead of weakly leaning into it. Honestly, the network national program concept is sinking pretty quickly and a reinvention to inspire whatever viewers are remaining would be good.

  7. They already scrubbed it from their website and replaced with gma3 wyntk. They don’t have to officially cancel it since it’s technically still airing gma3 with a different format and anchor.

  8. Don't hold your breath on WSYM... It's owned by Scripps, but ran by Gray's WILX

  9. Nexstar isn't touching those stations with a hundred foot pole. They will never have a chance against KTUU/KYES because the few people who advertise up there aren't going to put their ads on a duopoly that gets virtually no viewership. You know why Nexstar has KSVI/KHMT? They never really wanted it, but it was part of the Quorum package, so they had to take it. They have tried to sell those stations, but no one wants to buy the third and fourth stations in a two station market. It's the same fact in Anchorage. If GCI's cable leverage and multi million dollar investment couldn't dent Gray and KTUU, nothing will.

  10. Sounds a bit different than the cut KYW used for the open/close. Is this an updated version or a different cut from the original package?

  11. Great sendoff. Tim really represented the gravitas, authority, and trust of EWN. He's been one of the reasons WABC remains the number one station in the nation. Now, lest we forget the extent to which Tim really has been around the block, just two years ago Tim was punched in the face while covering a story! https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/queens/eyewitness-news-reporter-punched-face-queens-article-1.3926405

  15. KNTV 'Kids Report' 1990 At the opening of the San Jose kids museum they set up a booth for kids to do a mock newscast. You get a sample of the Siilvertree 1987 opening theme at the beginning, and then the first part of the closing theme at the end. Always liked how they used a piano for the teletype effect in that theme - you hear it during the close.

  18. It doesn’t really mean much if they still have the searchlights in the logo. It’s easy to associate it with the FOX brand and it saves management money since they don’t have to spend money to replace all the logos with the new one. Hence why WRLH still had the searchlights in its logo until a few years ago.

  19. Speaking of KPNX/KTAR, I don't think this 1970 promotional film featuring weatherman Frank Peddie has been ever posted in this thread; it provides a few interesting behind-the-scenes glimpses of the station half a century ago:

  20. The promo campaign when this debuted normally included VO saying "Keeping you: Safe. Informed. Connected." It's a severe weather market, and the longtime weather slogan is "Your safest place in a storm." New slogans, especially for legacy stations, come after lots of market research. One of the primary questions asked is normally "what do you expect from your local news?" I would assume this was born out of the majority of answers being some form of "keeping my family safe, staying informed and connected to my community." Stations are more concerned about what their audience wants and expects than hanging onto a zippy slogan that a forum thinks is "unique." EDIT: The VO in the new open is also "Keeping you: Safe. Informed. Connected."

  21. I totally agree with these sentiments. This informational format (health, finance, people-doing-good fare. etc.) is so much more substantive than SS&K, and would serve as a more worthwhile 3rd hour to the mothership. Keep Strahan on the early hours, bring Sara back to The View, and let Keke go back to things...that aren't a talk show? Pair Amy and T.J., better-bridge the look with GMA, and boom, an instantly more respectable product that doesn't feel like a mind-numbing knock-off of every daytime ensemble talker to ever exist.

  22. We’re heading into 4 months of social distancing, how hard is it to deep clean the place (which should have happen 3 months ago) and come up with comprehensive plan to create a ‘new normal’ so people can get back to work (particularly at CBSN). Most days, Anne Marie and Vladimir look like they just rolled out of bed. CBS really needs to get it together.
