  1. There's no way this goes further than a few months. Some of these stations have been carrying double-blocks of The Simpsons, Friends, Family Guy, and Seinfeld in these timeslots since the minute they went into syndication, and have been dealing with MNTV becoming nothing and The CW now being out-rated by the Spanish nets and Ion. I know that the first-run sitcom market is beyond anemic at this point, but risking the last steady local ratings for a national newscast likely to be ignored feels like such a dangerous risk to take, especially in markets where SBG doesn't have a sister Big Four station.

  2. Another day, another person leaving WNYT. And this one is a big name. After 42 years at WNYT, 4:00/4:30/6:00 PM anchor and health reporter Benita Zahn is leaving the station to work as a certified health coach. Her last day will be May 28th For those keeping score, this is the sixth departure at WNYT in as many months. A near unreal period of tumult for a station once known for being atypically stable.

  3. New Petition today. And this is from a flagship outlet, soon to be acquired by Gray. Quincy's WGEM wants to vacate VHF 10 for UHF 19.

  4. I actually disagree. I am pretty sure it is for actual risk minimization. Many stations still have weather and sports people working from home.

  5. A couple of newly uploaded clips featuring my absolutely favorite era of CNN (in terms of music, graphics, set, and just overall look & feel):

  6. To be fair, he told you the fact in 2 different ways, and you challenged that fact 2 different times. His response is saying "whether you believe it or not, it's the truth", which is a completely valid point. I've seen true snark from this man, there was no snark intended here, just plain speaking.

  7. This what you're talking about? Other Scripps stations use that open for their 4pm shows. Here's WFTS from late 2019: Many of the stations that use this open, like WFTS, use production music. Appears WTMJ stuck with the standard music.

  9. Darn. Oh well. That's where you have me to fill you in! I went to an estate sale last Saturday in Yakima and found a tape that had among other things, 2004 KNDO and KIMA newscasts on it. One of KNDO's Northwest Today, one of the 11pm KNDO news and a partial clip of KIMA NewsWatch at 11. Those are going up to Archive soon as is everything else I've found so far...trying to hurry and get them up as fast as I can. I should have the Flood of '96 specials and news clips, Stu Seibel's final forecast and most of the other 'big' finds up this month. And keep in mind, the "AVTB" channel on YouTube is where you can find same-day or next-day copies of the Internet Archive videos. I mentioned this on the 'YouTube discussion' page.
