  1. Scott shouldn't talk. I can barely understand the point he's trying to make with as many errors as there are in that post.

  2. WRC will get them in time for the Winter Olympics… Nobody seems to complain - everyone there’s focused on reporting the news… J

  3. From WABC during General Hospital today. Not awful, but certainly not better than what they had before. Arguably, the previous gold red blue ABC design was the best logo in the network’s history. The onscreen bug during WNT looked like it was made on Microsoft paint.

  4. I hate speculation… but… A lot of recent graphics rollouts have come with upgrades to new CG systems. For example, Fox had major issues with the new Chyron Prime system which delayed launches at a lot of stations. There could be some kind of hardware upgrades coming along with these graphics and that’s why the rollout might be slow and staggered and not lining up with new set launches.

  5. What's really bad if you're on Sinclair's side is this: Asking for nearly half a billion in fees That's clearly wayyyyyyyyyy too much

  6. For how good, yet low-profile Newsy has been for Scripps, they knew having it as a traditional cable channel wasn't working and ended it in June for a streaming-heavy model, along with OTA coverage on the Ion stations. I wish Nexstar would realize the same thing, along with cannibalizing their station's audiences in primetime (If you hear about Newsy on a Scripps station it's usually for their investigative reporting, not generic crime/human interest roll stuff like NN).

  7. “Also down the road may be a streaming version of NewsNation.” https://www.nexttv.com/news/perry-sook-84-of-the-country-has-no-earthly-idea-what-newsnation-is The fact that this is not the priority RIGHT NOW is the problem. So, if you have brand recognition but people don’t get the cable channel what’s the point?

  8. I'm sorry, but I do Not like the new logo. It is atrocious. I agree with iron lion, the previous logo was Way better. This ewww logo is a step backwards, IMO.

  9. Out of the bunch...Charlie and Mugo are clear standouts. Weekday afternoons/nights are in dire need of a shakeup and moving Jim and Marie to front the 4P (and maybe the 6P), would be a huge step in the right direction for WBBM. But alas, big changes like that may be left up to the new GM to make.

  10. I couldn’t find the article at that link. Here’s one. https://www.google.com/amp/s/deadline.com/2021/08/atts-warnermedia-talk-fox-to-sell-tmz-1234812552/amp/

  11. And a link for context: https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2021-08-09/anchor-rob-nelson-exits-struggling-cable-channel-newsnation What a disaster. I'm sure the drastic reduction of NewsNation Prime didn't help. I'm guessing the writing is on the wall that Prime is going to be cancelled when the September lineup comes out. Wouldn't be surprised if either Marni or the weather team go next. Well, maybe one of the meteorologists gets a spot on the morning show, but I don't see weather in the evenings being a thing much longer.

  12. This is why they're beginning to consolidate their affiliations onto one channel and are all-in on ATSC 3.0; they're beginning to get way too greedy for their own good. And I will never subscribe to Dish, but tying Bally and the Tennis Channel to CW and MyNet affiliates is a losing proposition for SBG.

  14. And just a few days after what would have been original WTVJ anchor and news director Ralph Renick's 93rd birthday; we get this 1954 edition of the Ralph Renick Report

  15. My grandmother will be pi$$ed, as a regular KIMA news watcher and Young & The Restless fan for decades. She has a little rabbit ear just for that purpose and thankfully Ahtanum Ridge is line-of-sight from her farmhouse. And this isn't the only time...remember Fisher vs. Dish? 6 month blackout in 2009, cost everyone months of local programming in the Northwest. That rabbit ear was bought for that purpose!

  16. Maybe because I've gotten used to the idea of it, but the bug looks solid, but we all knew the ring-bordered version was superior, from launch. The solid blue version was added to the GMA weather graphics from the midday hour, and it's serviceable enough. Still gonna be rough on most of the O&O's, but that's a whole other thing I'm not going to touch on now.

  19. How do you know that's "clearly way too much?" It's impossible to make that determination without any context. How long of a time period? How does it compare to similar deals Sinclair has with other distributors? All of these quotes are just public posturing to get the public to pick a side. For all we know, "nearly a billion in fees" may be what other distributors are paying Sinclair. If they are, then it's clearly NOT way too much.

  20. Aug 9 and they still on Look N. with the other stations that still haven’t debuted the new look, you’d think it’s embarrassing now that the olympics are over.
