  1. When Gray purchased Meredith, they inherited their graphics hub. Matt Quinn was the lead designer. GrayONE is built off the bones of the outgoing Meredith graphics package.

  3. KTRK ABC 13 Houston has began using the new graphics in all of their promos...Could the total package be debuting soon...Hopefully! I'm actually a big fan of the new package as I've seen on WLS ABC 7 in Chicago.

  4. And a new studio! Two questions ... Was GrayONE developed from WFSB's prior package? They seem so similar to me (please don't come at me too hard if I'm way off base on their similarities) Why do some stations prefer the meteorologist in front of monitors rather than the chromakey (WFSB is doing this with their new studio)? Maybe it's me, but as a viewer I find the graphics much easier to see and read off the chromakey, and it often feels unnatural when the meteorologist has to turn fully from the camera and face the screen versus turning 90 degrees to look at a monitor.

  5. It's been such a pain for the last 7 years that The Weather Channel brand is used by two separate companies. While the TV network technically has its own website, they almost never refer to it because they know people will inadvertently go to IBM's TWC website instead. I kinda wish the tech assets and the TV network could get sold to the same owner and unified again.

  6. CNN’s website is in desperate need of a clean-up on its programming page… three themes things stick out to me…. No page for CNN This Morning, NewsCentral or The Source. CNN Newsroom’s page still has a picture as Anna Cabrera under anchors. There is still a page for ‘New Day’

  7. Live's going away, according to TitanTV on KSNW's website. KSN News at Noon becomes an hour-long broadcast once again. EDIT: I believe KAKE's is straight-up local talk while KWCH's is all news/weather. Don't quote me on this since I don't live in the market so I may be wrong.

  10. I believe WABC considered making 9/11 memorial coverage online-only one year about a decade ago but there was enough backlash to nix that idea.

  11. Before “Now” launched, my recollection is that the 9pm news was anchored by Maurice and Kristine, and aired live at 9 for a half hour, repeated at 9:30. I am not sure I understand the comment about the 9pm being a repeat of the 6pm news. Do you mean the content was a repeat of the 6? In any case, it’s good to see that the “Now” experiment is over. The original “News at 9” was a good newscast, but they ruined it when they replaced it with a CBSN New York branded newscast. Fortunately that went away during COVID, replaced by “CBS 2 News at 9” with Maurice and Kristine, until they ruined that with the “Now” hybrid local/national program.

  12. Although I will miss the 9pm timeslot, perhaps they think the 8pm may be better so its worth trying. Still a unique slot for news in the New York market. Very glad they are not cancelling news on WLNY outright. Hoping Dick and Alice will be anchors again but time will tell. Dana/Maurice/Kristine would be fine too.

  13. This. They were the one of the few of not only station group left without a centralized graphics hub. Part of the implementation of that is getting everyone on same page running the same graphics system. That way you don't need to build insert graphics for multiple systems.

  14. I feel like this will be more of a weather rollout than a news one. At the pace O&Os are going only Chicago done the full rollout. Maybe the stations just hate the look.

  15. This indeed is the case, WKBD will simulcast CBS News Detroit at 7am starting Labor Day. I could see more simulcasts in the weeks to come as the fall season gets underway.

  16. Looking at this as humanly as possible, I don't mind stations covering the ceremony every year. I do believe the reading of every name will have to be shortened. Perhaps they can amend the ceremony to have a few families and officials give breif speeches each year?

  18. The Patreon story doesn't really have much in the way of details, but there is this: "Longtime employees at KYW say morale and abuse at the station are at its worst in decades."
