Sad news out of San Antonio, and it is with a very heavy heart to tell you that retired long-time KENS 5/KMOL (Now WOAI) anchor Fred Lozano died today after a 1 1/2 year personal battle with leukemia. Lozano first worked at WOAI/KMOL in 1972, then jumped to KENS-TV in 1977 before moving to back KMOL (Now WOAI) in the mid 90s and back to KENS 5 in the late 90s. Lozano retired from KENS 5 in 2012, he leave behind his former wife and anchor (Karen Chapman) and his three children. TVNT would like to offer our prayers and condlences to the family of Fred Lozano and the staff of KENS 5. http://www.kens5.com/story/news/local/2016/02/24/former-kens-5-anchor-fred-lozano-passes-away/80873168/ http://news4sanantonio.com/news/local/former-san-antonio-anchor-fred-lozano-dies

The only two talk shows I watch is Maury and Dr. Phil, that's it.
-
I hope and pray that their 20th year will be the last. And I said it before, I'll say it again; I rather continue watching soap operas, court shows, and game show than to watch dumb daytime talk shows like The View (ABC) and The Talk (CBS).

Good news from long-time legendary Houston sports anchor. Former KTRK now KHOU Sports Director/Anchor Bob Allen is cancer free. Bob hasn't been on the air since he announced last summer that he was diagnosed with form of T-Cell Lymphoma. Bob posted this message on his Facebook page. "Just wanted all of you out there to know I'm doing MUCH better...the cancer is gone! I am now in the rehab facility at MD Anderson trying to regain the stamina, strength & coordination I lost during the months of the stem cell transplant process. Everyone including myself is very optimistic. Feel like I'm on the downhill run. The constant is that it couldn't have been done without your many prayers and wishes, and you'll never ever know how grateful I am. Still got a ways to go before the strength is back, but we're getting there. Its been an ordeal and there are still way too many folks still battling that need your prayers. Regrets: missing the Astros post season... positive... but seeing Kubiak & Wade send a message to a certain Houston owner & GM that...you know maybe the coaching wasn't so bad here during those 8 years... just might have been the Texans didn't know how to build a team. (Rick)..Anyway I'm gonna keep rehabbing... God Bless you & see you soon." TVNT would like to send our prayers get well wishes to Bob Allen, and hope to see him back on the air soon. http://www.khou.com/story/about-us/2016/02/22/good-news-from-khou-11s-bob-allen/80727004/

BREAKING NEWS: I lost count of how many people retired from Tampa Bay's FOX 13 WTVT, but now long time sports director/anchor Chip Carter is hanging up the mike. Chip joined WTVT in 1988 as sports anchor and reporter until 1996 when he was named sports director after the death of long-time sportscaster Andy Hardy from throat cancer. Carter is retiring 2 1/2 weeks from Friday (Feb. 26th). http://www.fox13news.com/about-us/87813859-story

I would picture Alan anchor take the 5 & 10PM in addition to his 4 & 6PM duties. Unless someone take the 4PM anchor seat and let Alan anchor the 5/6 & 10PM.

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
TexasTVNews replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
I quote of what TVNT member Breaking News said "Disney doesn't buy TV stations. Didn't anyone learn from the sale of WJLA? ANYONE???? THEY DON'T BUY STATIONS!!!" -
I want to see revived or new soap operas back, and speaking of game shows; you know the one show I want to see coming back is The Pyramid.
-
As much as I hate daytime network/syndicated talk shows (except Maury Povich, Steve Wilkos, and Dr. Phil are the only shows I watch) I would rather see more court shows, game shows for 2016.

What's your take on KMID's new Local 2 News logo?
-
That's one beautiful new set for a new studio. What KMID needs to do is add more newscasts besides the Morning, 5 & 10PM. http://www.yourbasin.com/news/a-look-inside-the-local-2-news-station
