  16. I want to take this time to pay tribute to a Milwaukee news legend. It was 20 years ago this week, Milwaukee Television and WITI-TV6 would never be the same. If you remember Vince Gibbens, he was the most trusted anchor to watch on Milwaukee TV, he was the best. Gibbens anchored at WISN in the mid or late 1970s, then joined WITI in the early 1980s, and then did a 3 1/2 year stint at Baltimore's WBAL-TV, Vince return home to Milwaukee for a second stint at WITI with his co-anchor Joyce Garbaciak pictured with Vince in the early-mid 90s. Sadly, on Nov. 15, 1995; Gibbens died of a heart attack at his home in Milwaukee. Gibbens was 46 years old. Vince Gibbens was a trusted news anchor, a family man with a beloved wife and five children. He took his family seriously, he took his job seriously, and he took his life seriously. I was just a kid growing up here in Big D and I've never heard of Vince Gibbens till I saw some clips of him in his early years in Milwaukee and Baltimore TV, and I remember one time his colleagues and friends calling him Captain Ad-Lib. Gibbens is a legend, a communicator, and a well respected broadcaster. And we at TVNT want to take this time to honor and pay tribute to Vince Gibbens for his years in Milwaukee and Baltimore Television and for his dedication to broadcasting. Thank You Vince, and Godspeed.
  17. KTXA had their 7-9PM Newscasts from 2006 till the end of their run 2011. But, in my opinion; I say bring it back. This is how I would see it; KTXA should be more like their sister station KCAL 9. TXA21 News: This Morning (7-9am) TXA21 News: Midday/Afternoon (12-2PM) TXA21 News: First In Prime (7-9:30PM) TXA21 Sports: The Score (9:30-10PM) KDAF, KIAH, WBFS and if I may add WGNO; they should drop the NewsFix as well as News with a twist and bring back their news operations, if Tribune can get their heads out of their a** and start doing something right for a change. Look at WGN, WPIX, KCPQ, KSWB WXMI and KTLA. It's just my two cents.
  18. This holiday season, one news anchor is giving the gift of life. Rebecca Thomas of Austin's KTBC FOX 7 is donating one of her kidneys to her mother later this month.
