  1. Noticed a new WABC promo using the song "Come Get It Bae" by Pharrell Williams. The voice of the promo sounded like the same guy who voices the Verizon FiOS ads.
  2. I've noticed Veronica Johnson doing the weather for MSNBC so it's not that uncommon for her to sub in NYC. If I'm correct Janice was off Friday, Steve Villanueva subbed for her. Raphael Miranda is subbing for Steve at 6pm and 11pm. Meanwhile on WABC Amy did the weather forecasts on all newscasts today.
  3. Veronica Johnson from WRC was doing the weather forecasts on Weekend Today in New York.
  4. Guss, Sibila and Janice are on tonight at 11pm.
  5. Rachel Frank started today as Meteorologist 4am-6am. Chris Knowles who had been filling in doing weather was doing traffic 4am-6am.
  6. FiOS1 is now broadcasting in HD. Someone noticed a new FiOS1 Channel for the lower Hudson Valley. http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Share-Your-Ideas-with-Verizon/Please-add-FIOS-1-501-HD-Lower-Hudson-NY-on-STBs-for-Downstate/idi-p/694494
  7. Alex said she is going to be in studio reporting on what is trending on social media and a couple days a week she is going to do her on location segments.
  8. Weekend newscasts move to 5pm starting tonight.
  9. Noticed on the 11pm newscast more camera shots are being framed for 16:9 and the graphics on the video wall behind the anchors is slightly beyond the 4:3 safety. I'm also surprised not enough people have not complained about those annoying sound effects on the animated video transition between stories to get them to stop using them.
  10. Noticed Diane Macedo is already filling in on weekdays. She was on with Mary this am.
  11. Noticed the the WCBS anchors and reporters have changed ends of their twitter handles from WCBSWLNY to TV.
  12. I have to agree the camera framing for the two shot at 6pm made it appear they were framing it for 16:9. Makes me wonder why no NYC station as yet to letterbox their newscast for SD and make use of the full frame? The two shot this morning is not as close.
  13. Yes both were on at 11pm.
  14. I've noticed today WABC has been using hashtag names as lower third during some stories. Myself I don't care for it hope it does not continue.
  15. Vanessa was subbing for John today.
  16. You have a My9 reunion at FiOS1. Megyn Vega and Mike Gilliam are anchoring the evening newscasts.
  17. If I'm correct Lisa still does weather 4am-6am.
  18. Maybe Cindy and Andrea are going to be the weekend PM anchors and weekend mornings are going to be Diane and Cindy or Diane and someone else?
  19. Cindy is still anchoring the evening weekend shifts solo. I wonder if Andrea moves to weekend evenings when Diane starts weekend mornings?
  20. I noticed a new promo for Eyewitness News is using One Direction song "Story of My Life". When was the last time any Eyewitness News promo used a pop song?
  21. Due to CBS sports coverage at 12pm there was no 9am newscast last weekend and this weekend on Saturday. What NBC does when there is an NBC Sports event at 12pm is makes The Today Show 1 hour and WNBC uses 8am for local news. CBS keeps CBS This Morning: Saturday at two hours and moves up the children's programming to 9am.
  22. Jill Nicolini: BREAKING NEWS! Please join me in welcoming Amy Rosenblum our new Executive Producer of "The Couch" @WLNYTV Yeahh!!
  23. I guess Andrea is going back to reporting, Diane Macedo ‏@dianermacedo 5h Tomorrow will be my last day at FBN. Off to WCBS to anchor weekend mornings & report on weekdays. So grateful to both Fox and CBS.
  24. Let me ask a follow up, why is storm coverage necessary at 8am but not at 7am? WABC did the same thing for the most recent snow storms. You could argue just as many people wanted information at 7am when GMA was on. Why not just move GMA to their sub channel 7.2?
  25. It was also not necessary to preempt GMA at 8am for an hour of storm coverage.
