Gray's Hawaii News Now is joining the news expansion train. KHNL has added an hourly 4pm broadcast entitled "First at 4". That would be two straight hours of local news on Channel 13, followed by Nightly at 6pm. And this comes after Gray has completed its acquisition of KSIX-TV in the Big Island on Wednesday (9/9). It'll be interesting to see what they'll do with Telemundo.

Basically in any transaction, once they get the greenlight, they'll have 90 days to complete the sale. But they can file an "extension of consummation" to go another 90 days. But I don't expect that to happen as I think the sale would be closed way before that, given that it's Nexstar. But don't expect any on air cosmetic changes to happen on the day of closing (other than the Nexstar ID at the end).

Adam Kuperstein will get David Ushery's former spots at 11am & 5pm.

So the Marshall deal to Mission was completed last Tuesday (9/1). KLJB, KMSS & KPEJ are now Mission stations. And what @LexTVandRadio mentioned on Tuesday, the WDKY deal was approved last Friday (9/4).

The Ever-Evolving Gray Graphics Situation...Thread
CircleSeven replied to NEOMatrix's topic in Graphics
It's like they've preserved the fonts from the Limerick package and merge it with the WMC pack. It's better than the overly-used Helvetica. Talk about uniqueness. -
Paperwork for WPIX is finally up. That includes an LMA & an option agreement.

Muir surely was on last week, and the week before that. Where you've been?

TVNewsCheck states that David Ushery will anchor the 4 & 11pm broadcasts starting in October.

So the Mission consolidation spree continues tonight..... with Super Towers' WNAC. At this point, seeing Vaughan & White Knight getting merged to Mission is inevitable. But what about KSHV? Since Mission is getting KMSS from Marshall, Mission can't acquire KSHV from White Knight. Unless Mission go for a failed waiver, but I don't think its a failed station.

So follow-up. The former owner of Estrella TV is about to take WLII WLII Caguas, and its satellite outlets WOLE Aguadilla, WSUR Ponce & W21CX-D Mayaguez is being sold to Liberman Media Group for $1M. Liberman Media Group is ran by Lenard Liberman. He was the founder and former owner of a company that its now known as Estrella Media, after it emerged from bankruptcy late last year.

This is the CBSN Local package. This is the same package used since they first launched.

It's been greenlighted. Gray will soon add Telemundo to the suite of networks in the nation's 50th state. _________________________________________ Okay so unrelated to this. I know Northpine first reported this earlier this month. Gray have filed a petition for rulemaking (PRM) to make the following changes to Superior, Nebraska NBC affiliate KSNB: To change the city of license from Superior to York. To change the RF channel from VHF 4 to UHF 24. To move its transmitting site from near York to Beaver Crossing (the same spot as sister station KOLN). They've also have requested for a waiver of the current freeze of filing channel substitution petitions. The FCC put a freeze because they were in the process of starting the spectrum auction. The auction & repacking is over, but the freeze is still in effect. The reason behind this change is the Gray cites that KSNB's current VHF facility is "failing and not expected to last another 6 months". Meanwhile, KOLN is in a process of installing a new tower, because their original tower collapsed back in January due of an ice storm. I guess they figured what's more of an opportune time to install KOLN's new tower and install KSNB's at the same time? I know PRMs tend to be a pretty lengthy process. But it wasn't all that lengthy when several TV stations filed PRMs to get off that problematic VHF signals and move back to UHF after the digital transition ended in 2009. But as KOLN is rebuilding, this shouldn't really be a lenghty process for KSNB. The process is they file a petition (which Gray has already done), then the FCC will issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to go through the comment phase. And if they're aren't any major objections, then the FCC will issue an Report and Order (R&O) approving the channel subsitiution change. And at that time, Gray would file an application with the new UHF 24 facility. And once they get the greenlight, they can construct the new facility. So it's PRM > NPRM > R&O > App > Greenlight > Construct > Complete. Once they get all the proper approvals, this would be great news for folks in Lincoln who really want to have a robust NBC signal, without relying on cable or an outdoor antenna. And KOLN wouldn't have use their bandwidth to pipe in KSNB's main signal on a subchannel as they now do. Now I hope Gray can resurrect Memphis' WMC's petition to get off that VHF-low 5 signal.

The FCC has greenlghted the Marshall transaction to Mission. They were three firms who wrote objections to this deal but the FCC has quashed their deny petitions.

I guess it didn't take that long to find Allison Seymour's replacement. Former WAGA Atlanta Anchor Melissa Mitchell is heading to the sister station WTTG in DC as a morning anchor.

No I wasn't talking about TV stations/spectrum going away. I hope I didn't confuse you. What I meant was Vaughan could be the next to be acquired by Mission, as they're already in the process of getting Marshall, Tamer & Shield. I have a feeling Nexstar just want to consolidate all the other shells into Mission. I'm sure they wanted to do this earlier on during previous transactions including Media General, but probably didn't wanted to deal with further hurdles/delays under Wheeler's FCC (if you remember his strict guidance on deals that involved sharing arrangements). And lets not forget the spectrum auction was going on at that same time frame as the MG deal.
-
WNAC has a pre-November 1996 Grandfathered LMA. That would most likely be honored should ownership/licensee changes hands from Super Towers to Mission. Earlier this year in another deal, the FCC granted WMDN's application, which included 1995 Grandfathered LMA. WMDN has that LMA with WGBC (which was sold to Standard Media, which at this time is still yet to close).
-
Oh.... Vaughan could very well be next....... But on the paperwork tonight, it's the Shield (WXXA & WLAJ) that's going to MIssion.
-
All three are LPs. And I doubt Nexstar would touch just these LPs with no news ops. The market is heavily dominated by Gray (KPLC/KVHP). Besides, Nexstar presence is big the next market over (Lafayette) and that signal (albeit VHF) stretches into Lake Charles.
-
Not too sure what they're going to use it for, post-build. But SagamoreHill owns the Lake Charles CBS/MyNet LP combo KSWL/KWWE. They recently bought it from Waypoint Media late last year. EDIT: I was looking at the contours of K24DX and the two LPs. And 24's contour serves the east-central section of KSWL/KWWE's viewing area. So I'm thinking is SagamoreHill will probably move that 24 signal to KSWL's tower. Because not only they air CBS & MyNet, but they also carry MeTV & Telemundo. I wouldn't be surprised if they move one of those networks on the new signal to relieve bandwidth of the two other channels.

.......Vaughan, Shield, White Knight. With Mission already getting Marshall & Tamer, they might as well scoop the remaining three.

ABC 7 Eyewitness News thread
CircleSeven replied to bogusabc7breakingnews's topic in Los Angeles News
Channel 7 has a new ND. Assistant News Director Pam Chen, has been appointed as the new VP & News Director at the station. Former ND Rob Elmore left the station earlier this year to take a position as President & GM of Durham, NC's sister station, WTVD. -
New M&A. Looks like Tamer is going away. Tamer is selling Albuquerque stations KWBQ (CW) & KASY (MyNet) to Mission Broadcasting.
-
A small M&A. But a key one at that. Aperio Communications is selling its Fresno's MyNetworkTV station KAIL 7 to Christian broadcaster, TCT (Radiant Life Ministries) for $2.2M. Not only it airs the MyNet programming, but the station airs KFSN's hourly 8pm newscast every weeknight, and a repeat of Action News Midday at 1pm. The question would be if TCT decides to dump MyNet, which station would take the affiliation along with the syndie shows with it? KAIL also carry many diginets (H&I, Light TV, This & Ion). I asked this because while TCT would normally replace the secular shows for their own once transaction ends, it recently bought a station in the Mississippi Delta (WFXW) they have kept the Ion stream on a subchannel.
