  1. No surprise. An article from the NY Post this past March, stated that CBS was going to make $100M in synergies. Despite this, I don't think the heavy exodus of folks have accumulated to that amount, And before its all over, I believe there's going to be more cuts. .
  2. Wow. Gray keeps on snatching these CW affils away from these indie broadcasters (i.e. in Madison (WBUW), Fargo (WDAY) & Alexandria (KBCA)) I'm still surprised that the network allowed them to move the affiliation in Midland (KWES > KOSA) after the Raycom deal. I guess its all about the all mighty dollar. Oh, and scale too.
  3. A couple of notes from NOLA. It seems that it has found Natalie's replacement for the WWL's late news. WXIX 19's AM Anchor Charisse Gibson will become the new primary anchor of WWL's 10pm broadcast, beginning in June. Meanwhile, over at WDSU, its weekend anchor Juliana Massa is leaving that station at the end of next week. She's moving to Boston to become an anchor/reporter at WHDH.
  4. Gray is purchasing another LP again. This time in Laredo (KXNU-LD) for $40K. Wouldn't be surprised if they place the ABC stream (currently on KGNS 8.2) on this stick.
  5. The station is about to have a new face soon. Not sure if she's going to be a full replacement of Christina Salvo's Weekend AM slot or fill one of the weekday slots (11am for example). Still surprised they haven't filled an in-studio traffic anchor since Alysha del Valle left for Channel 4.
  6. This is a shame. WESH 2 Sports Anchor Pat Clarke is leaving in June after 16 years at the station,
  7. Paperwork for KEYU-FM is up. Alpha is paying $250K for the station. And it will have new call letters either at or sometime after closing.
  8. She'll be anchoring the 10pm show there in October.
  9. New M&A. Tegna will be acquiring the Justice Network & Quest TV from Cooper Media for $91M.
  10. Looks like WTSP has finally switched to the standard L3 bug & gfx, like the other outlets.
  11. That's a return to the nation's capital for Jummy, after leaving WJLA for Channel 4 a couple of years back. At least she's staying with the peacock. Wonder who would take her weekend spot.
  12. WPVI's Meteorologist/Traffic Anchor Karen Rogers is filling in for Jeff Smith tonight.
  13. Follow-Up. From this latest paperwork, it looks like the station will be in the hands of the creditors. I'm hoping an owner like Marquee Broadcasting would come up and buy this station.
  14. That's the time when the website's live stream starts working. Five minutes before the next news broadcast. It's on all the Tegna sites.
  15. Seventeen months after the deal was announced, Weigel has finally completed its acquisition of San Francisco stations KTLN/KAXT. The deal was held up because it was challenged by a petitioner. And then after the FCC approved Weigel's sale in September, the petitioner filed an Application for Review a month later. The end of this deal finally closes the books on spectrum speculator OTA Broadcasting, the firm that bought several bottom-dwelling stations earlier this decade, hoping to cash-in on the incentive auction. EDIT: Weigel didn't waste time adding MeTV & H&I Bay Area to their website. Also since KTLN is channel-sharing with LP signal KAXT, MeTV is also carried on CBS-owned CW-outlet KBCW 44.3.
  16. The Charlottesville deals were greenlighted on Monday. With both the Gray's Charlottesville switch and the United TV deal being greenlighted, I wouldn't be surprised if both get consummated concurrently. Also, earlier this month. Gray's founding television station, WALB celebrated a milestone. 65 years on the air.
  17. I was looking at the Syncbak page, where they archive video from the last few newscasts. They're using CBS Local for the rebrand.. Prior to the consolidation, KCWY used The Tower, while KGWN used Pinnacle.
  18. Someone screengrabbed their TV. And the bug is their old logo with the new Tegna graphic. Let's hope it stays that way.
  19. On the same day Scripps-Cordillera was cleared by the FCC last Friday, they also greenlighted the Gray-United TV sale as well.
  20. A New M&A. Sun Broadcasting (owners of CW affiliate WXCW) is buying Univision LPs WUVF/WLZE & Azteca LP WANA from Media Vista Group for $9.75M. Sun is currently operating the LPs under a LMA while it awaits approval from the FCC. Tegna recently added Bounce TV on KONG 16.2, clearing the diginet in Seattle for the first time.
  21. Nexstar is now involved in a new lawsuit, against one of its own sidecars. Marshall Broadcasting Group. From the release:
  22. New retrans issue. Cox Television & Dish Network. Stations could be blacked out by the carrier as early as 7pm/ET tonight (3/31).
  23. Big follow up. WCBS's AM reporter Janelle Burrell will be traveling down the turnpike to replace Rahel as new AM & midday anchor.
  24. Gray completed the KNHL sale on March 1st. But the consummation notice was posted tonight. But not sure when the station will restart carrying NBC on channel 5 for the first time in five years.
