1. So we all knows that the GMA's third hour begins one week from Monday. And I was curious to see what WFAA was going to do with the midday schedule. Will they keep the noon news and tape delay GMA Day, etc, etc. So I looked at the guides, and it stated at 9/10 that WFAA will have its "Midday News" at 11am and GMA Day at noon. Yet I did not see any press release or any confirmation that Channel 8 was moving its midday show from noon to 11am. But check this out, another ABC affil that air news at 12pm/CT, WBRZ in Baton Rouge, their guide says GMA Day at 11am and their local noon show is kept. So I'm kind of puzzled. If the WBRZ new schedule sticks and ABC is giving the show an early window (doubtful), then why WFAA is giving in to the network and move its longtime noon show to 11am, should that schedule stick.
2. Another M&A for Gray? It appears that Gray could be acquiring the license of the soon-to-be defunct PBS outlet KNCT in Waco. The PBS outlet goes off the air on Friday.
3. New M&A. Max is selling its last TV outlet. In Puerto Rico. Through CMGC Puerto Rico, their selling WOST (and the two LPs) to HC2 Holdings, for $2.85M. HC2 has been gobbling up a good chunk of the LPs and low rated full-powers as of late.
4. KTVT use to air Jeopardy at 11am (after TPIR), before they replace it with an 11am news. There been stations that aired IE at an earlier slot before. Anything before 3pm/ET, they're airing the previous day's shows.
5. From Mayra, The 3pm show will be a half hour. J! is moving to 1pm. Millonaire at 1:30. IE stays at 3:30pm.
6. Last Friday, WBTV aired it's final 8pm show on its Bounce TV subchannel.
7. Gray is now buying WFFP outright for $100K. As stated earlier, Gray is changing the station calls to WZBJ on 9/1.
8. ^^^ Another Hearst station is going midday. WISN 12 is bringing back its midday broadcast. On September 10, WISN will launch an hourly-11am newscast. That would lead up to the new GMA's third hour program at 12pm. I remember years ago when WISN had a noon broadcast, when did they drop it?
9. WMBF is celebrating a decade of existence. Happy 10th Anniversary.
10. The Quincy KDLH/WISE deal is done. Consummated on Wednesday.
11. Seeing Phil working on a Sunday morning is no surprise. But coming in on the weekend of Lollapolooza is. Ever since Lolla came to Chicago, he seems to be off on the weekend of the event, except for today. With Tracy in tonight. It would be no surprise if Phil comes in tomorrow.
12. The top-4 rule was slightly changed to allow certain top-4 combos under a case-by-case basis.
13. So they wanted Fox so bad after losing it several years ago, when KOZL was KSFX. Looking at Nexstar's press release (which includes WHDF's deal as well) they're buying both of those stations for $19.45M. So the KRBK deal is worth $17.20M?
14. The eight-voice test was eliminated when Pai changed the media ownership rules last year. That's how Hearst acquired WCWG from Lockwood. I wouldn't be surprised if Hearst move MeTV to WMTW, relieving some of the clutter on WPXT.
15. New M&A from Hearst. They're acquiring Portland, ME's CW station WPXT from Ironwood Communications. Hearst already owned the ABC station there, WMTW. WPXT also carries MyNetworkTV & MeTV on its subchannels (in which the latter is carried on many Hearst properties). No price was disclosed, but we'll see when the paperwork gets posted.
16. New M&A from Nexstar tonight. They're buying Lockwood's CW station WHDF in Huntsville for $2.25M. Nexstar already owns the Fox station, WZDX. And as of 7/15, they're operating WHDF under a TBA.
17. It's been greenlighted.
18. Yeah they did, based on this document. But Major Market filed a must-carry complaint to keep the Channel 4 position. The FCC granted Major Market's request.
19. There's been alot of Gray/Raycom news lately. Let me add another...... The Augusta Chronicle stated yesterday (7/12) that Gray has broken ground on a brand new facility for WRDW & WAGT, which is slated to open in 2020. The facility will replace a studio WRDW has been in for over six decades.
20. As the KDLT deal is being challenged, this KCPM deal has also been challenged by the owners of KRDK (the former full-power of KXJB).
21. The FCC has greenlighted the KDLH/WISE deal to Quincy. Let's go back to the question that was asked when this deal was announced: I wouldn't be surprised if they reverse the network switches.
22. Well, the FCC greenlighted Gray's KGWR/KGWL deal under the condition that KGWC donation to CWC gets consummated (either concurrent or afterwards). FCC greenlighted the KTWO deal to Legacy. But the KFNB/KFNE deal is still pending as of right now. What I didn't understand throughout all of this is that they'd used a low-power station (KYWF-LD) to count with the rest of the full-power stations in Casper, in the multiple ownership compliance part of the application. I thought LPs didn't count. Only full-powers.
23. Not sure. But I've always thought he only did it on an interim basis.
24. I watched the station's live stream last week. But here's the station's mention.
