The Belo graphics didn't looked good on them, than that last gfx package they had. You saw they had to freeze that bug after implementation of those graphics. But those new Gannett graphics on them is going to look really weird on them.

NO!!! I wouldn't be shocked if rest of NW cluster (KGW, KSKN & KTVB) gets the gfx next. Unless WCNC implements it first when they go HD.

The NABOB really wants to makes this JSA waiver requirement as thorough and transparent as possible. And they'll be the ones that will say (within the next year or two after consummation, or the station's revenue be good enough), whether Marshall to operate the station independently and without any JSA with another in-market broadcaster. That's what going to go down to. It won't be the last we heard from the NABOB.

And the paperwork says......Caballero is paying $1.8M for WIWN, and it will enter into a LMA while it waits for the greenlight from the FCC.

Well he didn't have to go too far. B&C states that former President & GM of WMYD, David Bangura, will become the President & GM of Independent statiion WADL. No I was talking about what Raymie described of Jean sweeping the old graphics in to the newer graphics. I wasn't talking about that vid. I've seen previous vids at which they'd use the new Gannett design for promos. But thanks for showing me that vid. I wonder if NWCN would also get the graphics as well.

Since they'd placed a freeze on new petitions to change channels, and for full-powers to boost their signals, now the FCC has put a freeze on Low-power displacement and stations that want to fill a new application for a digital replacement (fill-in) translator. Of course the freeze will stay on, pending the outcome of those incentive spectrum auctions. But this is yet another blow for the broadcasters.

Where's the vid at? I want to see it. Unless WCNC would play Speed Racer with their HD launch (very unlikely), KING 5 would end up being the first post-Belo station with the new graphics. I would most certainly miss The Tower v.2 on the station.

Can't say I didn't see this coming. A subchannel that primarily airs repeats of their programming more times than having original programming, that drive folks to watch other programs. Although the concept was good, a heavy amount of other diginets are obviously getting more viewers. This should be a celebration to those chief engineers at these O&Os. They had to squeeze more bits out of their main channels just to place those bits on a new HD stream. I wished the stations can go back to airing repeats to the station's local newscasts and other local programs on its point-2 sub, like they did prior to the Live Well. Now I know stations will be calling other programmers immediately to see which digi-net they'll replace. They're not going to wait until January 2015.

The paperwork for KLJB, & KMSS/KPEJ have been posted. And as expected, Nexstar asked for a JSA Waiver.

Gannett still have a long way to go until they have all their stations in HD. Belo didn't have HD news in a few markets, including, Charlotte. Case in Point, KREM, KTVB, WHAS & WWL do that 16x9 widescreen for their news. I'll tell you this though. Unless they make some small set alterations, the Gannett GFX would look very weird on WWL. I doubt they'll do the rebrand again. Although I loved it when they brought back the "36" in their branding the last time, if they're smart enough (while they're showing some light), it would be wise is to refrain from those "rebranding schemes" again.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!! TVNewsCheck has announced the Nexstar is selling three stations to a newly-formed, Minority-owned broadcaster Marshall Broadcasting headed by Pluria Marshall, Jr. for $58.5M. The stations involved are Fox Affiliates, KLJB in Davenport, KMSS in Shreveport and KPEJ in Odessa. Of course these are the stations that are involved in the ComCorp and Grant deals, which are still waiting for the greenlight from the FCC. So it looks like Nexstar want to play to have a JSA waiver card. I'm not too sure if this would fly. Sincrap was unsucessfully tried to pull that same thing with HSH's for WMMP & WABM, and it didn't go anywhere. Luckily enough, Nexstar have until the fall to close on these deal, or those deals will meet their outside dates.

Follow-Up Time!!! SMMFH!! You're not going to believe who's going to produce shows for The CW's One Magnificent Morning? It'll be LITTON!!! UGH!!! They already have two blocks, with this third block, they will have eleven hours of programming in three networks every weekend.

You must've saw yesterday's Broadcast Actions which list each of them as granted. Prather still hasn't finalized the deal, yet that might come soon.

Another end of an era in over-the-air television... The CW is pulling its plug on Saban's Saturday morning children's programming block Vortexx. In its place this fall, CBS Television Distribution will produce a new five hour live-action programming called "One Magnificent Morning". Vortexx was the last program block to air animated program on Saturday mornings, as all the other networks have ditch those programs, and went with live-action educational program. I'm not sure if this block would have the flexibility, like the other blocks do, but should it does, (and you know I'm not advocating this) many Tribune stations would probably take another opportunity to expand their weekend morning news offerings and possibly split the block into two days (i.e. airing three hours on Saturday, air the remaining two on Sunday). At this point, I was pondering how long the CW would continue to be the only one with the cartoons, while the rest have abandon that practice, since the stations have to comply with the 3 hour E/I guidelines and such. I would've though as Tribune is going a whole different direction, they would've accelerate this process sooner.

Yesterday, FCC greenlighted the KEZI/KDRV-KDKF deal to Prathers' Heartland Media yesterday. Also this past Wednesday, The FCC also greenlighted the KFXP deal to Abraham Telecasting. KFXP is owned by Compass Communications, and it was operated by a LMA with KPVI. _______________________________ I know this was mentioned days ago but it bares mentioning again. Two prominent New Orleans anchors are retiring tonight. Norman Robinson will anchor his final 6pm newscast on WDSU. And Dennis Woltering will anchor his final 5pm & 10pm newscast on WWL.

And the Trib station's newscast expansion trend continues...... WXMI announced that they will start its 11pm newscast on June 2nd. This station which coin-phrased this slogan "if it's at 10, its news, at eleven, it's history" is now saying "we've changed our mind".

They're probably waiting on the KFQX to Mission app (KREX/KFQX are on a grandfathered LMA). They even amended its application back on May 12 to state this: I dunno if this would finally convince Wheeler's FCC to budge, but ever since the FCC went with that Public Notice "Guidance" back in March (before they voted on that new JSA rule), the FCC hasn't acted on any app that included a sharing arrangement with contingent financial backings. But this is not the first time where approvals don't happen simultaneously. When Nexstar acquired WFFF/WVNY, the WVNY one was approved before the WFFF one did. Gray is still waiting on the Excalibur apps (KHAS, KXJB & KAQY), and they has modified their apps to eliminated its put/call and option agreements. And they didn't even have a JSA in its original application.

The Paperwork of KMTF have been posted, which Gray filed a failed station waiver, they're paying $150K for the station. Gray is paying $1.75M for KTVH. Also, we have an FCC approval. The sale of two CBS Alaska station's KUBD Ketchikan & KTNL SItka to Denali Media Holdings, a subsidiary of Alaska's telecommunications provider, GCI, was greenlighted last Thursday (5/15). Just like their last deal to acquire KTVA & KATH/KSCT, this deal also had a petition of deny. Specifically by the City of Ketchikan. The FCC shot down their POD and granted in GCI's favor. So GCI have Anchorage & Juneau locked. Will they head into Fairbanks now? _____________________________ WJHG's longtime anchor Joe Moore retired earlier this week after 43 years at the station. Hoping all the best in his retirement.

Well we have a New M&A this morning (well new to me, but the news was posted two weeks ago). Back to Oregon we go. It appears the owners of Zolo Media (owners of its cable/broadband system and Bend, OR's broadcast stations, KOHD & KBNZ-LD) is selling its company to a midwestern firm Telephone & Data Systems, Inc. (TDS) for $261M.
