  1. Look at KTVB's current website. It looks like they want that new website bad.
  2. I doubt so, although I wished it did and strange things have happened. WWL is still not in HD either.
  3. Bye-Bye Newschannel. But they'll have much needed new graphics. So that would be a plus. Plus since this is a Sander station, so it is safe to say that KGW will get it too. .....ANNNDDD, since this is the third consecutive week that a Belo station have the new G3 gfx and WCNC will implement the new digs on the 16th, who's going to get it on the 9th?
  4. Damn!! We didn't get enough from the Ice desks this winter?
  5. The day of the sale's approval was December 20. The sale's consummation was the 23rd. I haven't seen WWL using the new tags until of what I saw on the vid last night. I knew KING 5/NWCN started using it immediately after, and some of the legacy (pre-Belo) Deathstar station, also went with the design. I'm not sure if you saw WWL's but this was the first time I've seen it on WWL, since the deal was closed six months ago.
  6. On the first night of gfx debut, they'd used a short variant of this for the 10pm close. I'm not sure if they use the close regularly on 10pm or they use their "normal close", like the other shows. And when did WWL started to use the new Gannett tag at the end?
  7. That's yet another Wednesday launch, like KING 5 & WWL. Glad they'd implemented the HD broadcast tonight, prior to Thursday's start of sweeps.
  8. Here's the vid with Mike Hoss explaining about the new Gannett graphics. Of course we've heard that same line over and over again. And we'll be hearing it as the rollout to the Belo stations continues. I know I stated that the graphics (including the WWL logo with the CBS Eye) are sleek, looking at the logo on the three screens, near their secondary news desk, it really pops out way better than the ones that said "EYEWITNESS NEWS" in a blue blackground on the screens. I do agree with promoguy98 that the set does look too busy. I said this earlier on, the WWL signs in front of both desk, those looks similar to the older graphics. I'm not too sure if those signs could be changed, because it doesn't too much look right with the station's new graphics. One thing that I somewhat dislike is that they uses a narrow font for the time & temp, while most of the others are using a bolder font. Some folks who might be several feet away or some folks who might have visual problems, might have difficulty seeing the time & temp bug, because the font is so skinny. As for the music cues heard on the noon (as it is the station's very first Gari theme), its somewhat okay. I was happy that they used the WUSA music for the open & close (although I wished they played it up to the end of the cue and not the start/in the middle, but I know it was their first day, they'll have alot of time to do some tweaking). It seems that they're trying to do the same thing to use various cues for the bumpers, like they did with AWYT. I know its been one newscasts, but I'm hoping there will be more consistency with the cues. It would be interesting to see what they will use for the evening and tomorrow morning's shows.
  9. I wasn't aware of that. My error. Okay it's been 10 years. Here's the last time I've seen WWL use the CBS logo next to their logo.
  10. I wished they could go back having the reporters end their reports with "Channel 4 Eyewitness News" instead of just "Eyewitness News". Other than that, (including incorporating the CBS Logo next to the WWL logo again (and btw the "4" looks a bit bolder)) it really do look sleek on them.
  11. Hold the phone. Is this permanent?
  12. It looks like the FCC is hiring a firm to help them pitching those auctions to the broadcasters. TVNewsCheck stated that they are hiring Greenhill & Co. to help them to develop educational material to try and convince the broadcasters to participate in those incentive auctions which will occur in 2015. Later this summer, they will have a station outreach, as well. Even with all of this, I hope the broadcasters are not stupid in going for what Wheeler is selling. I hope they don't participate. What's worst stations are closing down anyway because stations can't have a sharing arrangement, so if they close down a TV station, even if it isn't one of those major markets that needs all the spectrum (like NY, LA or Chicago), this would still be a plus for Wheeler. All they need to do is find a speculator, and that's all she wrote.
  13. I think he's worried about the overuse of the "This Is Home" stuff that's about to take place. It would not look good at all on WWL if they use it. Any videos of those promos of the new graphics?
  14. Both of those dates fell on a Monday. It's kind a different now since you now see changes happening the Saturday before sweeps or the Wednesday before or on the first day of sweeps, etc. I can't believe prior to the end of 1994, they were still using the News Series 2000, Cool Hand Luke theme, after Lalo was "having a baby" about the use of his theme, and wanted more money (even if another composer played his theme).
  15. December 19, 1994. Does anyone know the exact date in August that the '99 update began?
  16. It sound is still powerful, to this day. Kudos for Channel 7 for hitting this milestone.
  17. Yeah. About a bit over a month ago.....
  18. I actually liked Battery V.4, since the station used a good amount of cues. But with that said of course, this doesn't have the superiority as any of the Arnold themes that came before the 2006 SESAC episode. I want to also note that this will be the first time in 16 years since a Gari theme is used in NOLA (since WVUE dropped Advantage in '98). 615 was also absent in this market before WWL acquired AWYT, and it will be absent again, once the Gari theme comes about. I strongly wish that Gari start producing newer themes for stations that probably don't want to use those kinds of cues most stations are using. Similar to the cues used on its flagship WUSA 9. Should we see it on WFAA, I strongly wish that they would incorporate a version with "Spirit of Texas logo", preserved for WFAA & KHOU, although I have a feeling that Gari would probably desecrate the theme, just as similar as 615 did when the first installment of Propulsion. I'm a die-hard traditionalist when it comes to the music and the certain muslcal logos that have very close ties with the station's traditions and histories. It would hurt me deeply if Channel 8 have to alter its 30 year familiar Spirit of Texas logo. It would also hurt me if WHAS forgo its 23 year Newschannel package. But I wouldn't feel the same way as the WFAA (since many composers have composed the Spirit logo within that 3-decade span, while WHAS have been with just one). And I tell you why. Since WHAS have been using the Newschannel NG (now its been recycled as one of the themes of The Edge), the station have been using just that one theme for everything. You don't really hear too much variety in the cues. Hell, they don't even use themes from the pre-NG package anymore. That and the graphics (which they've also been using since 2006), I wouldn't be as mad if they acquire the new graphics. It would hurt me to see Newschannel go away in the Kentuckiana region, but not too much. But the other two stations that used that theme, WAFB & WTOC, and they never used the WHAS theme, yet WAFB have used also of newly-composed themes from the package. But WTOC on the other hand...... It uses series 3 for the opens and the series 2 "Champion" theme for the closes, But the bumpers, let's just say they play the plethora of themes, including the . Out of the three that use it, only one have that power to use it thoroughly with pride, and that's WTOC. Yeah, I'm strongly to hope for the best, but I have to also expect the worst. Whether we like the new graphics or not, it looks like the Deathstar is wasting no time implementing the new digs on the Belo stations. And I doubt all the stations will get it prior to the July 3rd start of the July books.
  19. Damn, the Deathstar is not wasting time implementing it on their Belo stations. I wonder if they would implement it on their morning program (since it is their big program of the day) or on their news at noon (which that would likely be their launch period since nearly all the launches have started at that hour).
  20. The Belo graphics didn't looked good on them, than that last gfx package they had. You saw they had to freeze that bug after implementation of those graphics. But those new Gannett graphics on them is going to look really weird on them.
  21. NO!!! I wouldn't be shocked if rest of NW cluster (KGW, KSKN & KTVB) gets the gfx next. Unless WCNC implements it first when they go HD.
  22. The NABOB really wants to makes this JSA waiver requirement as thorough and transparent as possible. And they'll be the ones that will say (within the next year or two after consummation, or the station's revenue be good enough), whether Marshall to operate the station independently and without any JSA with another in-market broadcaster. That's what going to go down to. It won't be the last we heard from the NABOB.
  23. And the paperwork says......Caballero is paying $1.8M for WIWN, and it will enter into a LMA while it waits for the greenlight from the FCC.
  24. Well he didn't have to go too far. B&C states that former President & GM of WMYD, David Bangura, will become the President & GM of Independent statiion WADL. Of course this comes after WMYD's completed acquisition by Scripps yesterday. ___________________ New M&A Tonight! rbr.com state that Pappas's WIWN is being sold by Caballero Acquisition, LLC. Caballero owns LP stations in California & Texas.
