1. You're not the only one who feels that way. The level of toxicity in our politics today is at a level that has not been seen in a very long time. Fox News, for its part, has been fanning the flames on this even before Trump came into power. It has now become the new normal.
2. Here are a couple of old clips from when Maury Povich was a news anchor (well before he got his own talk show): WTTG 1985: WNYW 1989:
3. This was likely related to a shooting that happened nearby at the Shoppes of Bel-Air that same night. WKRG's studios are right across the street from there.
4. WHBQ's Kristin Leigh is moving to WSOC in Charlotte: Former KOLR sports anchor/reporter Megan Rice was recently hired by WREG to fill a hole in their sports department following Glenn Carver's retirement in February. Her first day on the job was this past weekend:
5. WHBQ has hired Elisabeth D'Amore as their newest meteorologist at the station (replacing Lindsey Monroe, who is now a meteorologist at WTHR in Indianapolis). She previously worked at WTVM/WXTX in Columbus, GA. Her first day on the job was yesterday.
6. Looking at that now, the poorly-done transitional elements and animation are a dead giveaway of a mock-up compared to the original Linear Drift version.
7. The font choice ruins it. Then again, WSMV bastardized the current NBC O&O graphics, so what else is new.
8. Come on. They're at least doing better than KSHB. Aren't they?
9. There's always the weekday morning shift they can put her on, which seems like Cook's likely destination.
10. Just about all of the media outlets are reporting from Memphis on that day.
11. It should also be noted KLRT received the new website as well.
12. They stole that weather logo from WHBQ.
13. It should also be noted that the station just hired a new news director named Greg Phillips (formerly from WVUE), who started work at WMC-TV a couple of weeks ago. http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story/37305157/wmc5-names-news-director
14. I just saw her do a news report tonight. Whether that means she'll be a general assignment reporter or an anchor/reporter remains to be seen.
15. WREG has announced their sports director Glenn Carver is leaving after 30 years at the station. His final sports broadcast is tonight at 10:00. http://wreg.com/2018/02/28/saying-goodbye-after-30-years-on-air-glenn-carver-signs-off-for-last-time/
16. They're probably replacing the outdoor monitor panels with new ones, which have been in place since after the 2012 Summer Olympics.
17. Bad enough that a lot of the legacy Nexstar stations still don't live stream their newscasts, now this happens. Something tells me they're on the verge of axing the streams altogether next as another one of many many cost-cutting moves by this station group.
18. Nashville Scene has a story today on WSMV's recent issues surrounding Demetria Kalodimos' departure and how it was handled. https://www.nashvillescene.com/news/cover-story/article/20990725/anchor-down-how-wsmv-walked-away-from-demetria-kalodimos
19. Parts of it look like the WFLA/WCMH package, which make it look more of a mismatch of consistency.
20. Not exactly when you consider WCPO was the first station to roll out the package that came out before their current one.
21. WHBQ was the first. I believe all of the Cox stations are using the CMG ID as their closer now.
22. It's self explanatory referring to all of the morning news shows on Nexstar stations.
23. I don't think the person in charge of the graphics was expecting the Chiefs to blow a 21-0 lead when he or she wrote that lower 3rd.
