  1. The question that should really be asked is does Fox have an actual mandatory rule/requirement that all of its stations and affiliates use the official logo. I say this as there have been other examples of stations (WACH, WFXG, and WFXT for instance) who have gotten away with doing the same thing themselves in the past.
  2. Pardon my French, but this is the kind of stuff only scumbags and Scrooges would do. Mr. Devitt has every right to sue at this point.
  3. Of all the cost-cutting, penny-pinching moves a company could do, this has to be up there with what radio stations have been able to get away with.
  4. More or less, WBBJ proper would operate as a satellite of WMC since Jackson is only a 1 hour drive from Memphis compared to Nashville. Outside of that possibility, I'd expect WBBJ to be treated like WWSB in Sarasota.
  5. This one hurts, and I feel bad for all of the people who worked at that studio.
  6. WJCL and WAPT switched to D25 this afternoon, which means all of Hearst's stations are now current.
  7. Well, yes and no. While technically Gray doesn't own a station in Chattanooga outright, they do have a stake in Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. - the owners of WRCB - that could be used as leverage if they so choose.
  8. Yeah, that's definitely true, and it certainly beats going with a domain like WeAreIndyDOTCom or something that reeks of the Nexstar of old.
  9. With all due respect to Mr. Allen, he needs to sit his arse down and reflect on his crumbling media empire rather than trying to cozy up with CBS.
  10. WJFB operates as a television station in name only. They don't have an actual facility in the Nashville market outside of a transmission tower as everything is beamed in from Chicago, and I doubt Weigel would want to go through the trouble of starting a new news operation from scratch, let alone a new network affiliate.
  11. I don't mind this new approach if it means getting the whole story out of it and not just bits and pieces to favor one side or the other. The worst thing that could happen is someone getting caught saying something on a hot mic afterwards. Remember the old saying: Loose lips sink ships.
  12. That's because Sinclair - much like Nexstar for the most part outside of their larger markets - do a lot of their set builds in-house now as opposed to having a third-party vendor do it for them. And it's been the case since Park Place - the last company they worked with - went belly up a few years ago. At one point, when they were upgrading their stations' news operations to HD, they opted to have Devlin do their sets. Some of their in-house builds aren't as bad compared to others, but there have been worse setups. Albritton, for example, was notorious for going cheap when they upgraded their stations to HD.
  13. At this point, I would not be surprised if a private equity firm like Apollo winds up buying Sinclair and its outstanding assets. Pairing it up with Cox would be considered a "show of mercy" for them.
  14. The cannibalization of entire newsrooms has been going on for years - particularly in smaller media markets. Little Rock being one prime example with Nexstar operating four stations in the market in one building (KARK, KARZ, KLRT, and KASN), and if they are allowed to keep KTHV in this deal, that's five stations under one operator outside of Sinclair-owned KATV.
  15. In terms of CNBC (aka the "Consumer News & Business Channel), this will mark the first time since 1996 the channel wasn't co-branded with the NBC peacock.
  16. Corrected.
  17. That didn't stop WJXT or WHDH from trying after losing network affiliations themselves. You can operate a news-heavy operation with the right investments made, along with strong marketing.
  18. Same case with WLMT here in Memphis, which TEGNA owns along with WATN. Nexstar would love nothing more than to move the CW over to one of WREG's (and WJKT also) subchannels.
  19. Does VDO even exist anymore? Their old web domain has gone dark since then, along with the website itself.
  20. WIAT opened their 10pm newscast on the story last night: https://www.cbs42.com/sports/report-birmingham-stallions-to-move/
  21. Yep. They're the same team for the most part when they were still Vivid Zero. Just under a different name after splitting from their parent company SmithGeiger.
  22. Looking at the renderings of the new set, I'm surprised they went with Michael Wright on this job as he mostly did sets for the Graham stations.
  23. They need to go back to this era somewhat, which was right before the ill-fated Atlanta's Newschannel happened.
  24. So, they'll be sharing space with iHeart Media in that facility, even though they'll basically have a floor all to themselves.
  25. The new studio is finished as of February. It's just a matter of finishing up some technical stuff before they can fully broadcast from there.
