  1. I see. So, they're going with a WVEC-esque look now. Link to the story: https://www.localmemphis.com/article/about-us/local-memphis-and-local-24-becoming-abc24-on-september-27/522-1dd5ae03-80cb-47d4-8227-c123a5e42cd5?utm_medium=social&utm_source=undefined_janiceTVnews
  2. Meh. They only refinished the floor and replaced the monitors. Nothing else.
  3. WMC-TV switched recently, as have KAIT and KFVS.
  4. So, a refresh on top of a refresh on top of a refresh. KYW is never getting rid of that set they've been on since moving to 1555 Hamilton. Are they?
  5. WOI-TV in Des Moines went Full TEGNA as of this Midday, complete with a new logo: WOI-TV Local 5 News Midday Open (10-14-20)_mpeg4.avi
  6. That's why Annette Peagler said this was a soft launch tonight. They're still fine tuning some things.
  7. WATN officially switched over to the full TEGNA graphics as of tonight. Note: The live stream is currently down, so I can't record.
  8. That was originally given to Bob Sellers before he was shown the door two years later.
  9. WAVE created their current package themselves though. Makes you wonder why Gray hasn't asked them to run their graphics hub even after the fact.
  10. The KWCH/WBTV graphics would probably look great for WOIO to use.
  11. We do have at least four TV stations with "TN" in their call letters though.
  12. Why am I not surprised? I'm pretty sure FedEx has been guilty of using VNR tactics too.
  13. I think it's only a matter of time before WATN switches over to the full-blown TEGNA look, but there are already signs the transition could be happening soon. Their 9AM newscast was recently re-branded as Memphis This Morning (which may or may not be temporary).
  14. WATN in Memphis has quietly replaced its COVID-19 coverage at 9AM with a new show called "Memphis This Morning" as of today. Could be a sign of more changes to come for the station.
  15. Wendy Nations has since replaced Austin Onek on weekends, though I'm not sure if her role is temporary or permanent.
  16. The assimilation has gone full speed ahead despite an uncertain future for TEGNA at this moment. My guess is that all of their remaining stations will have the uniform look before the end of April.
  17. That may not have been an option for WTVF to consider, especially with their studios being in close proximity to the Tennessee State Capitol and adjacent government buildings. Plus, the station itself is landlocked, and acquiring land to accommodate a helipad would've likely come at a premium for them as opposed to using John C Tune.
  18. It's been like that for the past couple of months. They have even begun doing those Verify segments TEGNA has been rolling out at their stations.
  19. That's a most definite as using Local 'Channel Number' as branding isn't so much of a thing anymore except for maybe a handful of TV stations these days. They'll most likely be re-branded as WATN 24 and WOI 5 on the non-news side of things. As for newscasts, a return to the generic "Channel 5 News" or "News 5" branding would probably be the most logical direction WOI to go at this point. WATN may require some "creativity" to say the least as a means of moving ratings in the right direction. On a side note, WOITV.com re-directs to WeAreIowa.com, so that should give you an idea on what direction they might be going.
  20. Not sure why, considering they're a TEGNA station now, but Jeez Louise does KTXL need some new mic flags.
  21. Needs a beveled outline of the Lighthouse.
  22. Realistically speaking, Nexstar would have to purchase the assets of Morris Multimedia (owners of WDEF, a former Park/MG station pre-LIN merger) just to get into that market since Sinclair owns one station (WTVC) and manages two others (WDSI; WFLI), while Sarkes Tarzian (which Gray owns a partial stake in) owns the other (WRCB).
  23. To each their own. I mean, the white-and-blue look is a very good package when used correctly as intended, but there will always be those who will manage to botch it.
  24. In the case of WATN/WLMT, they were already at rock bottom to begin with ratings-wise, so it's not like TEGNA could've done any worse for them. As much as Nexstar was willing to invest in making the duopoly competitive, it wasn't enough to move the needle in the right direction.
  25. They definitely dodged a bullet when the Bonten deal fell through. That company was Sinclair-lite in every aspect.
