Looks just like a broken-image icon to me.

Yeah, that looks messy -- especially if you're not used to eating pizza in that shape.

https://thedesk.net/2026/05/bill-forcing-am-radio-tuners-in-cars-gets-second-wind/ This may be my cynical side speaking, but I can't help but think this is really about protecting (conservative) talk radio.

And wait till you see the envelope! YouTube version (the check bit starts at 4:51):

Anyone know of any affiliates delaying Comics Leashed for more news or other programs? Any reports of unhappy affiliates?

Bad link. Please try again....preferably without the detour through LinkedIn's URL cruft.

WCNC was only briefly a Gannett station before the TV side split off and became Tegna, but yeah, those are nice-looking buildings. (That said, I think WKYC's building would look better if the logo on it matched the 3 on the weather tower.)

I've tried many, many weather apps over the years, a number of which are still on my phone. As for the CNN Weather app, it's not bad. I definitely appreciate the clean, uncluttered design. That said, this is the app icon: If the text below it didn't include "CNN", you wouldn't know it was a CNN app.

I really like those colors, though they do make the bright blue background behind the KQTV anchors look almost like a bluescreen.

According to the article, it's "Allen Family Digital, an affiliate of Byron Allen’s family office" that is acquiring the majority stake, not Allen Media Group. Alas, the article really could've used some proofreading. Buzzfeed co-founder Jonah Peretti isn't properly identified, and then there's this: I'm fighting the urge to post a "Well, actually..." comment, but I'll be good.

Ah, okay. That's actually pretty freakishly ironic.

It might also be a PSA for not doing the traffic report while in traffic...

And those boys look so excited about it.

Excuse me while I yack...in triplicate.

Looks like they're still working on the content, judging from the rather sparse navigation at the top.

Actually, I just noticed that in this case, doing that would also drop the URL of the page you actually want to go to and just leave you stuck on an error page. Here's the URL again with the actual important part in bold: https://www.linkedin.com/safety/go/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fthedesk.net%2F2026%2F04%2Ffive-states-added-to-antitrust-lawsuit-against-nexstar-over-tegna-deal%2F&urlhash=nYYk&mt=1bo3E9OQnzdhNC0dKhy12ougIWpPSsFiiBQcZxG59cFmeHlUgKXRrRe0oiFAChEW28ArcVEnZhLZXKmHURoPMZwJm75rPvMitgSOTMCpxsDEXqJSsx1kw18hDg&isSdui=true Pasting that bolded chunk into your web browser's address bar will likely just cause the browser to treat it as a search term and pass it to whichever search engine (Google, DuckDuckGo, etc.) it's set to use, but the top most result will be the actual page you want to go to. You can skip the search engine by changing any instance of %2F to a / .

First off, that link is bad. Here's a shorter, easier-to-read, and direct version that's free of the unnecessary LinkedIn detour and its URL cruft: https://thedesk.net/2026/04/five-states-added-to-antitrust-lawsuit-against-nexstar-over-tegna-deal/ The governors being Republicans or Democrats have nothing to do with it. It's the Attorneys General who are involved in the lawsuit. As it happens, three of them are Republicans -- in Indiana, Kansas, and Pennsylvania.

Probably.

Also available here via Stelter's newsletter.

Airwaves and cable channels.
-
Yeah, it's not really a post for the "Out & About" thread, which is (generally) focused on who's moving to or leaving which station. The Breakroom would probably be the best place.
-
Technically, it won't. KTVD is one of the stations Nexstar has already announced it'll be divesting.
