  1. It's a hell of a lot better than yet another channel of reruns.
  2. Guess that TRO didn't work out.
  3. He's baaaaaaaaaaaaack...
  4. So, could Tegna getting a number of stations Nexstar divested be part of why Nexstar purchases Tegna?
  5. Wait, so Sinclair is closing the news department of the station it's owned since 2014 in favor of the news department it just acquired last month? Oh, and here's a cleaned-up link for anyone who would prefer it: https://thedesk.net/2026/03/sinclair-tulsa-newsroom-consolidation-ktul-relaunch/
  6. Well, except for the two episodes of Comics Unleashed that will continue to air on WLFI and WTHI every weeknight. Worth it.
  7. See, this is what I get for guessing. (To be fair, it's hard to find a current list of DMA rankings since Nielsen is so litigious about their info, even though such a list should be publicly-available knowledge.)
  8. Wasn't Scripps News supposed to close down?
  9. Good questions. Morgan Murphy's more of a small-market company; the largest market they're in, I think, is Madison, WI. Graham, meanwhile, hasn't shown even a hint of interest in buying any stations since it acquired WCWJ and WSLS almost exactly a decade ago. Goooooooood.

Is the "safe" room where they keep the AI?
  11. I'd rather see Hearst sell to Gray. Or Graham. Or Morgan Murphy. Or anyone besides Sinclair or Nexstar.
  12. For those of you who would prefer not going to Xitter just to read the entire post, here it is: AG Jackson has a Bluesky account, but he hasn't posted to it in a few months, let alone posted the above.
  13. So the ex-Tegna stations in markets where Nexstar didn't already own stations (Seattle, Spokane, Boise, Minneapolis, Louisville, Atlanta, etc.) are lost?
  14. The person who runs the Studio 31 Media Archives account on YouTube has posted their reaction:
  15. Question: Wouldn't the courts undoing the sale result in Tegna existing again?
  16. Meanwhile, the headline for the Hollywood Reporter's article is amusing: "Nexstar Closes $6.2 Billion Tegna Merger, Creating Local TV Giant" The headline writer must be new.
  17. Meh. We all know where this is going, then, don't we?
  18. Well, crap. There are a bunch of markets that will go from four separately-owned news-producing stations to three (such as Portland, OR, and here in CT), but there are also some that will go from three separately-owned to two (Sacramento, possibly Hampton Roads). Not good. And probably too late for Jimmy Kimmel to comment on it before the weekend, too. Currently, three of those (WTHR, WAVY, and KNWA) are NBC affiliates. How much do you want to bet those affiliations are going to get moved to subchannels of stations Nexstar's keeping? (If I ran NBC, I'd be informing them the affiliations are staying with those stations, thank you very much.)
  19. Please. We already have those and other cop shows on Ion and as part of NotMy. We don't need even more repeats of them.
  20. Wait, there's a third satellite-based provider besides those two?
  21. I think Disney will keep ABC, especially since CBS and NBC are also owned by studios. But I could also see a few of the stations get sold.
  22. I'm going to let someone else dig up the post where it was mentioned (not by me) that Disney/ABC had been interested in purchasing WJLA but passed because Albritton insisted on selling all of its stations together.
  23. And as I've said before, Disney/ABC could have acquired WJLA if it had simply found a company interested in the other Albritton stations. It's not like the stations were all stuck together forever once Albritton sold them.
  24. Yeah, that would've been smart.
  25. How are the stations handling the issues with regards to their portion of the building? I would assume they do a lot of their own maintenance. Also, I have to wonder if any of the stations' employees live there? I mean, the short commute has to be a big draw....
