I stand corrected.
-
That right there may be the best post of the thread.
-
If Kimmel saying the shooter is MAGA is reckless, then so is all the right-wingers saying the shooter is from the left.
-
Ah, yes. Punishing all of the network's affiliates because of the actions of those two companies. That'll go over well. That's rich coming from the company that makes its stations air propaganda pieces during newscasts. Also, Kimmel can make a personal donation to the Kirk family, but he is under no obligation to donate to TPUSA.

For those of you who'd rather not go to Xitter just to read the entire post...
-
Those aren't on-screen graphics during newscasts. Next?
-
Oh, I dunno..... station logo in the lower corner of the screen, on-air personalities viewers associate with one of the stations, the weather forecast covering a certain area....
-
I noticed a few months ago that CBN is doing the same thing. Their current website doesn't have any info on where to watch The 700 Club except for their on-demand video site, even though it also airs on TBN, Impact Network, NRB-TV, and, of course, Freeform. In fact, a search for "Freeform" using the site's own search tool doesn't return any results. (I only found this old page via a Google search.)

Anyone else feel like this is Soo Kim effectively giving the industry the finger for his thwarted takeover of Tegna? I feel bad for viewers in the Providence market who now only have two options for local TV news -- Sinclair and Nexstar.
-
Because it's about a NewsNation competitor or because of something in the URL itself?
-
That I'd like to see.
-
Better that than yet another court show or conflict talker.
-
Or Soo Kim.
-
Or at least its stations will.

To be honest, I haven't watched WFXT in a long time. But I can still recall the music they used during their last years as a Fox O&O.
-
Figured as much. I moved from southern NH to CT in April 2024 and didn't remember WFXT doing it even in those last weeks before I left. Mind you, this is the station that once had live coverage of a winter storm from basically 10:00pm to 8:00pm the next night only a few months after they'd been bought by Cox, so them finding some way to go all-news for the overnight hours doesn't entirely surprise me.
-
I meant the new non-competes Circle City is pushing.
-
WFXT has always been news-intensive, but that's still a lot of news. What's Coxapollo up to? Oh, wait.... The mayoral election in Boston is coming up, isn't it? Also, the all-night repeats of the late news is a concept I've never seen before. When did that start?
-
Anywhere in the country or just Indiana?

So much for Nexstar/Perry Sook wanting to be in every market. It hasn't bitten them yet. I mean, we've only had the announcement that Sun Broadcasting is buying WFTX. Whereas reasonable people such as yourself are upset that Hearst hasn't put up the white flag of surrender, sold all their stations to Nexstar/Sinclair/Gray/Tegna or private equity, rolled over, and joined the choir invisible. There's a simple reason so many of us love Hearst: As broadcasting companies throw in the towel and sell their stations to competitors or private equity, all indications are that Hearst is one of the very few really companies left. Could they someday disappoint us or even break our hearts by selling out to another company? Of course. But until it does, we'll keep cheering them on.

[Thought I was responding to the latest post, but I was two pages off. Whoops...]

Trying to keep them relevant when HBO Max also exists.

So you're saying AccuWeather and Fox Weather (which are right next to TWC on the cable system here) are better?
-
Of course, a Canada-focused thread should probably be started by a Canadian...
