  1. I was wondering when Licht was going to start making changes to HLN. Not sure what the point of simulcasting CNN This Morning is, though, especially since I suspect the two channels are side-by-side on most cable systems.
  2. I thought I heard a shoe drop somewhere...
  3. And everyone at KSAZ breathes a sigh of relief.
  4. By virtue of being the largest media market, I would imagine.
  5. Wasn't it already a revival?
  6. I read that word as "touring" and it made the sentence make no sense.
  7. I hope that doesn't result in Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy being canceled.
  8. I wonder if Nexstar will change the network's name since it'll clearly be a very different beast from what it's been. Then again, we live in a world where BBC America mostly shows American movies and cop shows and the Travel Channel mostly shows shows about ghosts, so...
  9. Except, of course, that it won't be called Peacock. It'll be called NBC. (Okay, maybe NBC+.)
  10. If NBC wants to make this move work, they'll need to start putting new shows on Saturday nights again and not just use it for repeats and Dateline.
  11. I could see Nightline moving to that hour.
  12. A better question: 3. When do we think they'll blow up HLN and turn it into something that isn't 79% true crime shows?
  13. The only Tegna stations I can see any of the networks being interested in are those in the largest markets -- WFAA, KHOU, WUSA, and WXIA.
  14. *reads the article* Mmmm... Someone's feeling desperate. Another option: Be acquired by Hearst and also shove Soo Kim and Standard General to the curb. (That said, Tegna may be too big for Hearst to absorb even after divesting stations in conflict markets.)
  15. So the FCC has to be okay with this merger and all its issues just because Soo Kim isn't white? I don't think that's how it works...
  16. They would just have to get creative -- starting with using more of the 52 weeks in a year.
  17. I can't help but think that maybe NBC should test the waters on one or two nights of the week before committing to this big a change for all seven nights. Friday and Saturday nights would be a good place to start.
  18. This sounds like a big opportunity for professional soccer (y'know, what most of the world calls football), rugby, lacrosse, field hockey, volleyball, swimming, basket weaving, etc.
  19. That would've been one hell of a twist, though.
  20. Here's a thought: If the news branding is "Atlanta News First", why not have the station's overall branding be "ANF"? I mean, no one refers to CNN as "Cable News Network" these days...
  21. Better question: Does anyone actually care?
  22. I don't see any problem with this. There are casinos in Las Vegas that are open 24/7 and the town is known for its nightlife. Someone who works evenings, gets home well after midnight, and sleeps till early or mid-afternoon might actually want to watch the local news.
  23. No, there's another downside, though it's more of a hardware issue than anything: The streaming remote used to peruse those services often lack number buttons, effectively forcing you to use the program guide or flip from channel to channel just to get to the one you want to watch.
  24. We're probably getting off topic here, but I've been waiting for the contracting of linear cable television and the shedding of channels that aren't being watched, particularly among the multiplexers (HBO, Showtime, MTV, Nickelodeon, etc.) that have multiple flavors of themselves. I mean, do we really need several versions of MTV when there's often not enough new content to justify more than two?
