Thank you. What should be canceled first are some of the useless cable channels Paramount owns that are likely watched by very few people. I mean, is there any real demand for The Movie Channel Xtra? I didn't think so. There's enough blame for both her and Trump. It's not an either/or situation.

Whisky. Tango. Foxtrot. So, Oliver Darcy was the first to report that Colbert and Jon Stewart/The Daily Show could both be canceled. (Darcy's post is paywalled, but I saw a post about it on LateNighter.) Here's Darcy himself quoting his post on Bluesky: Or Byron Allen, who's already getting the 12:37pm slot for more repeats of years-old episodes of Comics Unleashed. I disagree. One can suspect (or even assume) that this move was to appease Trump and still hold Redstone to blame for her mismanagement. Also, as far as I'm concerned, the burden is on Paramount/CBS to prove the cancellation isn't politically-motivated. If I was a shareholder, I'd be asking a lot of questions, and I hope current shareholders do just that. And then they can ask why none of the dead-weight cable channels are being shut down.

So, if this outage was so widespread, how has it not been mentioned on the various entertainment sites (Variety, THR, Deadline, TV Insider, TVLine, etc)?

That fits. A number of NBC O&Os and affiliates seem to repeat their late news after Late Night with Seth Meyers, followed by repeats of that day's Nightly News.

Is this a side effect of CanCon rules?

Depends on the hotel, I'd imagine. The mid-tier chains (Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, and anything "above" them) will likely switch over on day one, but the budget motels and independent hotels/motels/inns will likely be dependent on their respective cable providers. As for WPLG, I agree that it'll likely disappear from hotel cable systems. I was in the Chicago area for a few days in March 2019 (when the CW was on WPWR) and was looking forward to watching WGN's newscasts, only to discover that, even though the printed channel list in the guest info folder listed "WGN (CW)", it was WPWR that was carried instead.

Oh. Hi. [Pulls foot out of mouth.] Anyway, 3 down.... 209 to go.

Welp, I didn't see that coming. I guess Scripps didn't want to pay for a station that small. I would hope it's the first time ever, at least on the TV side.

So, for those of us who don't read legalese, what assets...er, Assets, does Merit Street have?

Fantastic. Spectrum drops News 12 Connecticut and promotes the NYC-focused Spectrum News NY1 to cable channel 1 despite my town being nearly two hours away from the city, but hey, now we can get far-right lies and a channel geared towards rich people. I love cable TV!

So, if she's not starting till this fall, who's hosting in the interim?

Looks like two providers didn't get the memo. I'd love to know what they have on their respective channel 18s* that they don't want to move. * Or is that "channels 18"?

Dear Hearst...

Smart of them to think ahead. Now CBS needs to heavily plug that video in their own coverage of this.

Trump's "presidential library"? Transcripts aren't good enough. The complete, uncut interview should also be made available for viewing,. I mean, do you think average voters are going to interested in reading a transcript when there's a video to watch? In fact, the complete, uncut interview with Harris should be made available now.

The Adweek article is dated June 24th. This Variety piece is from yesterday.

CNBC has shops in multiple airports, though they're also just news/convenience stores with branding. I remember seeing one in Charlotte back in 2007.

That was back when the FCC was under Democratic control, before Donald the Destroyer returned to office and Carr turned into his personal attack dog.

I wonder if any of the stations that used that theme will cover this.

That problem shows up on CBS during the summer with multiple nights of Big Brother. Heck, it could probably also be blamed for the hilariously-inappropriate-for-CBS Love Island.

Well, the Archdiocese of Boston owns CatholicTV, so in a sense, the Vatican has access to that.

On the broadcasting side, both CBS and NBC stayed with their scheduled programming (48 Hours and Dateline, respectively....and both were years-old episodes, too) for the 9:00pm ET hour. I was flipping through channels at 10pm, and I'm pretty sure CBS was at least starting its second (49th?) hour of 48H, while NBC had switched to live coverage. (Fox broadcasting was airing the Mets-Phillies game, so they're excused, though it looks like they did cut to Fox News for Trump's speech.)

It's as if it has.... [puts on sunglasses] ...no merit.

I imagine Cowles has de facto right of first refusal when Marks's heirs finally decide to sell KYUS....as does Scripps with KXGN.
