  1. Kind of dumb when people can watch a stream of WNEP news for free.
  2. They haven't. It does air on the "city channel" on Stirr which I think is why they launched those channels. Because outside of The National Desk, there are no local news programs on those channels.
  3. Curious if WRTV isn't getting a ratings bump because of all of this.
  4. This just a bad idea all around. I can only imagine what the sport teams who had no say in this decision are thinking (especially the Cubs since they jumped in late).
  5. Does this include News 13 and Bay News 9? Because those name still have a lot of cache in Florida.
  6. Coastal Television (KYUR/KTBY) is making news for all the wrong reasons (this story ran in the NY Post today too): https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/anchorage/2020/10/12/anchorage-mayor-admits-to-inappropriate-relationship-with-news-anchor/
  7. I'm actually surprised it wasn't KABB that got the standard graphics since they're the legacy station in that duopoly.
  8. Wow, picking fights with any of your colleagues is a bad move, especially someone as established and well-respected as Jovita Moore. Sounds like WSB isn't losing much on the radio side.
  9. I'm sure what happened at the CBS Broadcasting Center in New York had all the O&O's evaluating their contingency plan. Makes sense that the back up for KDKA would be KYW since they're in the same state.
  10. In fairness, at least the station disclosed that in the story. That's actually more than I expected a Sinclair station to do.
  11. I personally agree with his opinion, but I also know Tegna tries as hard as it can to be impartial, especially compared to other station groups. So this obviously isn't a good look for them and hence the result. But like others have said, hopefully another station will pick him up after all the dust settles.
  12. With all the craziness going on in the world, we missed this Talkback 16 segment about the new graphics. https://www.wnep.com/mobile/article/opinion/talkback/talkback-feedback-graphic-content/523-72f29d9b-c000-4016-beda-9812766cc30d
  13. I think the reality is that this is the plan in action. As long as WCBS is able to get something out to their audience, they don't care how its done. Even if that relies on a team 3000 miles away.
  14. You have to wonder if the people complaining about the size of the font are watching it on the SD feed. I figured the font size would be one complaint, but I didn't realize how passionate people were about the colors in a newscast.
  15. There was a Talkback 16 segment that aired earlier tonight. They did have a portion where callers were calling in about the "new changes" that WNEP was promoting in the lead up to today (its toward the end of the video). https://www.wnep.com/mobile/article/opinion/talkback/talkback-16-coronavirus-and-kurts-hair/523-4d31169b-73c0-404e-b200-391d597d762b
  16. Without going full Speculatron, isn't WFXT's affiliation agreement tied to KOKI and WHBQ's?
  17. Curious to see how the ticker will look. Using the ticker from the old package on the new package is definitely not visually appealing.
  18. Sounds like a recipe for something exactly like this to happen. That said, this story is a pleasant break from the rest of the news. Especially this week.
  19. I can't help but notice how similar the graphics look to what's been rolling out on the Meredith stations (especially the L3s). That's especially interesting since there are at least two markets where Meredith and Scripps both compete (Phoenix and KC).
  20. I don't know how we missed this but it looks like KATU got them last month.
  21. Oh darn, guess I can't watch the news on KDNL then. Seriously though, this will impact markets a lot harder than St. Louis. Columbus comes to mind with Ohio State being on Sinclair stations there.
  22. Ick, I hope not. That would be a huge downgrade compared to their current package. I think you're right though sadly.
  23. Nothing against the standard Nexstar CBS affiliates graphics package but it's nice to see that a large market station like KOIN will have something that is somewhat still unique in comparison.
  24. If I remember correctly, I think that the KNXV newscast was originally going to be based off of then-sister Fox affiliate in Kansas City. This is what those newscasts looked like. In comparison, the newscasts that KNXV started with are definitely a lot more toned down. Go to 1:46 to see the start of the newscast.
  25. Joe Crain from WICS in Springfield is fired after protesting Sinclair's insistence on using "Code Red" branding for their weather coverage. https://www.newsweek.com/joe-crain-springfield-illinois-weatherman-viral-video-code-red-weather-alerts-sinclair-1442776
