  1. Looks like they got the weather portion of the Hearst package at least (not sure if this has already been covered). http://www.wjcl.com/weather/more-very-hot-weather-this-afternoon/20943198/story
  2. KAIT just recently added NBC to 8.2 and just simulcast WMC's newscasts. Not sure how antitrust work with networks on subchannels but I guess Raycom figured it was easier to just make 8.2 a satellite of WMC instead of tackling a new network.
  3. Sinclair's MyNetwork affiliate in Pittsburgh is changing calls from WPMY to WPNT In addition, they're announcing more local content in the form of high school football (similar to what Sinclair has done in Columbus, San Antonio, West Palm, etc). http://www.post-gazette.com/ae/tv-radio/2015/05/27/WPNT-TV-fromerly-WPMY-to-focus-on-sports/stories/201505260127
  4. Wouldn't shock me. Raycom has been doing that in Biloxi and recently in Jonesboro. The question is which network will Raycom try to go after, ABC or CBS? I imagine these would replace the Beaumont signals on the cable providers there as I would think viewers would prefer to keep the Lafayette stations over the Beaumont ones. But then again Raycom might want to get rid of both.
  5. If Lake Charles merges with anyone, I have a feeling it would be Lafayette instead of Beaumont since they're in the same state. I don't think the stations in Beaumont bother to cover anything in Louisiana even though Lake Charles gets stations from Beaumont as well as Lafayette.
  6. Looks like they'll pipe in news from WVLA in the meantime. Looks like Nexstar is going to rebuild these stations from the ground up. It's exciting to see even though it'll probably mean the loss of KPLC in that market.
  7. Depends on what Sinclair does to it. If they leave it alone like theyve done with stations like KOMO, you're right but if they start toying around with it, it could have side effects.
  8. Oh great, now KDNL can bridge between This Week with George Stephanopolous and Ring of Honor. I have a feeling Ring of Honor is going to be more informative than this news program will be, especially since it's being hosted by a woman who thought the Obama Administration hacked into her computer to delete stuff she was typing but most security experts suggest was just a stuck "Backspace" key. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharyl_Attkisson#Report_of_Attkisson.27s_computer_being_hacked BTW: Did anyone else catch the irony in this?
  9. Renderon is responsible for the current Journal package too if I recall correctly in addition to the Scripps package. So it's most likely that Renderon will be called again for the next generation of the Scripps package.
  10. KVII in Amarillo completed their rebrand from ProNews 7 to ABC 7 News. In addition, the rebrand came with new graphics and a new set.
  11. Considering its Nexstar, I'm not expecting anything spectacular.
  12. Actually KSDK's dominance died off in the 2000's. They and KMOV have been running neck and neck. It's only been recent that KMOV's ratings lead began to grow.
  13. I agree, this is the perfect opportunity for KTNV or KVVU. Scripps/Journal and Meredith are both a little more open-minded about using choppers and this could work to their advantage against KLAS. Not a fan of this move at all. I would've rather had someone like Gannett buy KLAS instead of Nexstar. They're better in smaller markets.
  14. They might resurrect the "Eyewitness News" branding like they did in Fresno. I Always thought "8 News Now" sounded stupid. Real bummer about the chopper though. I know KLAS used that a lot for their newscasts.
  15. Speaking of KDNL, I see they finally updated their website and moved to the template that stations like KABB just moved to. In addition, they will be airing a special edition of "The Allman Report" right after the Oscars tomorrow night. Usually it's only on Monday-Friday but I guess they figure this would be their best attempt to draw in more viewers.
  16. He's heading to KMOV huh? As someone who watches KMOV, what should I expect in regards to how he'll run the station? (I know KMOV isn't a Sinclair station but it's still semi-related.)
  17. Just saw an open for WSIL. The open reminds me of WHAM's old open and the L3's remind me of the old Hearst package. It's actually not that bad for a knockoff.
  18. KMOV is doing the same thing tonight after the Grammys.
  19. I wonder what KLAS and KASW's will be.
  20. Yep. I guess after cross-town competitor WBBH unveiled their Look F lookalike package, WINK decided they needed something else. They're still using Look F for everything else which makes it look real awkward. You can watch the stream on their homepage and judge for yourself: http://www.winknews.com/.
  21. WINK has new lower 3rds. Anyone care to guess who they're imitating? http://www.winknews.com/2015/02/06/wink-news-investigates-whos-driving-your-childs-bus/
  22. KSDK must've decided to have it disappear because I'm watching their newscast tonight and the L3 still disappears. The annoying thing is that the rundown disappears with the L3. That seems to make the rundown seem more pointless than it already is.
  23. I wonder if others will be dropping the "Local" branding.
  24. Actually this is the logo that KSDK uses for their bug. It's pretty stupid because they also use that branding for non-news programs too. I'd love for them to go back to only the "5" for their logo.
  25. Watching KSDK right now and I noticed they have the updated package. One thing I noticed is that the L3s aren't up the whole time and they disappear along with the rundown after a few seconds leaving only the bug up. Is that something all the Gannett stations are doing with the new package or just KSDK.
