  1. The reporter and photographer behind the WBFF news story in which video from a protest over police brutality was edited and taken out of context have been let go by the station. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/reporter-and-photog-behind-wbff-kill-a-cop-report-out-at-baltimore-station_b137037
  2. It actually makes more sense. Because a lot of people already watch WMC for news and they're both owned by Raycom, it's easy for them to simulcast the news from WMC. Having the same newscast on 2 stations is just stupid and I think a lot of people in that market would be upset if they weren't able to watch the news from WMC anymore. By doing this, they can avoid that controversy and still be able to get addition local ad revenue for KAIT. This is a pretty smart move on Raycom's part.
  3. KTVO already has a CBS subchannel so I'm not sure if Sinclair wants to attempt a NBC subchannel as well. The other other possiblilty would be American Spirit (Raycom) which owns KYOU the Fox affiliate in Kirksville/Ottumwa. I don't see that happening because they barely invest anything into KYOU. The market is an afterthought to Raycom after they sold KTVO to Barrington and I wonder if they even realize American Spirit still owns KYOU. Being one of the smallest markets in the nation doesn't exactly bring out the big bucks. So I expect that people in that market will either keep getting NBC through WGEM (Quincy), KSHB (KC), or on the Iowa side WHO (Des Moines).
  4. Yep. And Raycom owns both KAIT and WMC so they'll still make their money. Glad to see they'll simulcast WMC because I think a lot of people in that market do turn to WMC for their news and I think people would've been upset if they replaced WMC without simulcasting the news from them. The Jonesboro market gets KAIT for ABC and the rest from either Memphis or Little Rock.
  5. Here's the open with the new music: Seems out of place without the Sinclair graphics to go with it. But maybe that's just me.
  6. WBFF is in some hot water after being caught selectively editing footage from a protest in DC over police brutality. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/fox-affiliate-edits-protest-chant-to-sound-like-kill-a-cop/ (In fairness the station did retract the story and apologize after being caught but this is another example of why I never trust anything from this station group)
  7. And trading WTTA for WLUK means that Sinclair got the better end of that deal. Now they have the home affiliate for the Packers and in a swing state.
  8. WJLA's ticker is now using the same font from the Sinclair package and that goes with their weather graphics as well. Guess it'll be a slow transition but it looks like something is on its way. Not sure about the other Allbritton stations.
  9. And the Nexstar triopoly in the Quad Cities is official. Now it's only a matter of time before WHBF takes over the 9pm news on KLJB. KWQC produces the news for KLJB as of right now and apparently the contract with Media General lasts until the end of 2015. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/80497/at-last-fcc-oks-nexstar-buy-of-grant-tvs
  10. Geez, he just had that job for a little over a year. It always sucks when someone dies, but it really sucks when it happens so abrubtly like that. I've had family members that passed away suddenly too so I can imagine how his family as well as the people he worked with at Sinclair are feeling right now. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
  11. I wouldn't read too much into that. KDNL's web address has been abcstlouis.com for quite a few years now. Their Twitter and Facebook handles (yes, they actually have Twittter and Facebook accounts for KDNL) is ABC St. Louis as well. If this is part of a rebranding, it's an incredibly slow one.
  12. ABC probably did pressure Sinclair to do something with KDNL, but as we can see, they did it in the cheapest most half assed way possible. Sinclair just needs to sell KDNL if this is the best they.could come up with. Markets much smaller than St. Louis get better treatment than this.
  13. Seems like a political talk show than an actual newscast. The new anchor currently hosts a show on the right-wing talk station here and his political beliefs just so happens to match Sinclair's. The fact this was announced right after ABC renewed their contract with Sinclair's ABC affiliates is probably no coincidence. I thought WGNO's "News with a Twist" was the most half ass attempt at a newscast but seems like we have a new contender. According to the article, this new show isnt even going to be produced at KDNL.
  14. KDNL is launching a "non-traditional" newscast, featuring a local talk-show host in January. http://www.stltoday.com/entertainment/television/gail-pennington/kdnl-will-launch-non-traditional-newscast-in-january/article_063117bd-780b-5c58-9302-d01167353510.html
  15. KSHB carried the Chiefs debacle last night.
  16. They've used the Sinclair package for their weather segments for about a month now, still wondering why it's taking so long for it to expand to the rest of the newscast.
  17. KDNL aired the Ben Carson paid ad after Ring of Honor today. The funny thing is that they ran the disclaimer they usually do for paid advertisements.
  18. Wow, Fox really deserves better in Corpus Christi. I made websites with more content than that in my high school computer class. Fox affiliates in markets much smaller than Corpus Christi have better websites than that. Just look at KYOU's website. They're in Market 200. http://www.kyoutv.com/
  19. I was going to try to stay politically netural about this but I agree with you 100%. As I said before, most of the lead-in's are junk but the one that did strike me as interesting is in Cedar Rapids on KGAN where the Chiefs v. Bills game is the lead in to this paid program. It also just so happens that Cedar Rapids is in Iowa where the first primary is (even though it's still 14 months away). Coincidence? (It's also airing in Des Monies and Sioux City but the lead in to those is Fox News Sunday (KDSM) and some other program (KMEG))
  20. It's listed as "Paid Programming" on KDNL too. With Ring of Honor as the lead in. According to that list, the station with the best lead in to this is KGAN which has the Chiefs v. Bills game as the lead-in to this Paid Ad.
  21. Looks like it'll air as a paid advertisment. To be fair, this doesn't seem like the standard "mandatory" airing like Sinclair does with some of their other political programs. But I agree, I imagine Sinclair will give Armstrong a good rate to air this documentary on their stations.
  22. Found a better capture of it. Looks like WICD/WICS in Springfield/Champaign-Urbana, IL have switched to the new graphics package as well.
  23. You can see the package in action. KRNV has full newscasts available online. http://www.mynews4.com/content/asseenonnews4/news4atnoon/default.aspx Seems like the anchors are still getting used to the new graphics.
  24. KSNV has some really really cheap production values and yet they're always at the top of the ratings. Seems like a step back compared to their previous package.
