  1. KVII in Amarillo completed their rebrand from ProNews 7 to ABC 7 News. In addition, the rebrand came with new graphics and a new set.
  2. Considering its Nexstar, I'm not expecting anything spectacular.
  3. Actually KSDK's dominance died off in the 2000's. They and KMOV have been running neck and neck. It's only been recent that KMOV's ratings lead began to grow.
  4. I agree, this is the perfect opportunity for KTNV or KVVU. Scripps/Journal and Meredith are both a little more open-minded about using choppers and this could work to their advantage against KLAS. Not a fan of this move at all. I would've rather had someone like Gannett buy KLAS instead of Nexstar. They're better in smaller markets.
  5. They might resurrect the "Eyewitness News" branding like they did in Fresno. I Always thought "8 News Now" sounded stupid. Real bummer about the chopper though. I know KLAS used that a lot for their newscasts.
  6. Speaking of KDNL, I see they finally updated their website and moved to the template that stations like KABB just moved to. In addition, they will be airing a special edition of "The Allman Report" right after the Oscars tomorrow night. Usually it's only on Monday-Friday but I guess they figure this would be their best attempt to draw in more viewers.
  7. He's heading to KMOV huh? As someone who watches KMOV, what should I expect in regards to how he'll run the station? (I know KMOV isn't a Sinclair station but it's still semi-related.)
  8. Just saw an open for WSIL. The open reminds me of WHAM's old open and the L3's remind me of the old Hearst package. It's actually not that bad for a knockoff.
  9. KMOV is doing the same thing tonight after the Grammys.
  10. I wonder what KLAS and KASW's will be.
  11. Yep. I guess after cross-town competitor WBBH unveiled their Look F lookalike package, WINK decided they needed something else. They're still using Look F for everything else which makes it look real awkward. You can watch the stream on their homepage and judge for yourself: http://www.winknews.com/.
  12. WINK has new lower 3rds. Anyone care to guess who they're imitating? http://www.winknews.com/2015/02/06/wink-news-investigates-whos-driving-your-childs-bus/
  13. KSDK must've decided to have it disappear because I'm watching their newscast tonight and the L3 still disappears. The annoying thing is that the rundown disappears with the L3. That seems to make the rundown seem more pointless than it already is.
  14. I wonder if others will be dropping the "Local" branding.
  15. Actually this is the logo that KSDK uses for their bug. It's pretty stupid because they also use that branding for non-news programs too. I'd love for them to go back to only the "5" for their logo.
  16. Watching KSDK right now and I noticed they have the updated package. One thing I noticed is that the L3s aren't up the whole time and they disappear along with the rundown after a few seconds leaving only the bug up. Is that something all the Gannett stations are doing with the new package or just KSDK.
  17. I live in St. Louis and was able to watch the Allman Report tonight in its full version on KDNL. It's pretty much as the clips on their Facebook page suggest, it's a TV version of his radio show with interviews and commentary moreso than regular news (and you can guess the political slant of it all). They do read the headlines at the beginning of the newscast and they also have reporters from WSYX (which is where KDNL's master control is) read national headlines in the middle of the newscast as well. The thing that really struck me odd is that the weather segment was also based out of WSYX (which also produces the weather cut-ins for KDNL for GMA). Throughout the newscast, the meteorologist was talking as if he was based out of St. Louis. KDNL never was part of the "News Central" experiment so this is my first exposure to this, it's kind of wierd to have someone in Columbus telling me what the weather's like here in St. Louis as if he's actually based here.
  18. So basically they outsourced their production to a third party instead of spending the money upgrading the facilities they already own to produce a program with just enough content to satisfy ABC's local news requirements. Yep, sounds like Sinclair to me.
  19. Apparently it started last week. It also looks like KDNL has a new logo as well. You can see clips of the program on their Facebook page. For some reason the KDNL website doesn't even have anything about this program. But based on the clips I've seen on Facebook, it's a TV version of his radio show. Which I guess you have to give Sinclair credit for trying something different (in the cheapest and laziest manner possible) but outside of the folks who would listen to his radio show, I don't see how this is going to attract viewers. https://www.facebook.com/kdnl30 I live in St. Louis and I've seen no promotion for this program at all minus the one story I saw in the Post-Dispatch (newspaper) announcing this program.
  20. David Zurawik from the Baltimore Sun had another article about the fallout from WBFF's selectively editing video for their news packages. http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/tv/z-on-tv-blog/bs-ae-zontv-fox45-20150109-story.html#page=1
  21. Adds a lot of validity to the rumors that they're about to dump their long-running "Action News" brand.
  22. Any bets on him showing up at another station? My bet is on WUSA.
  23. Its not new either. Fox is even more strict and even threatened to pull their affiliation with a few stations over branding. Part of the frosty relationship with KTVU was over the lack of the Fox branding and Fox threatened to buy KIRO and move the affiliation from KCPQ partially over disputes with branding. Luckily WSVN is tops in ratings or Fox would be getting on them too.
  24. It is Steelers country but pretty much everyone on the Ohio side of the market is on the Ohio State bandwagon.
