This is very sad. Larry was popular for years and was CNN's biggest star for a long time. He's been through so many health issues for a few years now, including COVID, that I'm not surprised. I wonder if CNN will do a tribute tonight.

    R.I.P. Larry.

CNN will have a special tonight at 9p on King entitled 'The King of Talk: Remembering Larry King' according to the banner seen below right-hand corner on TV at this moment.

There’s a commercial airing with clips from vintage 10pm newscasts, trying to show that the current Fox 5 is similar to the Fox 5 of years ago. Sadly, that’s not the case, and I doubt we’ll see any format changes.

Just uploaded on my YT page same promo you're talking about. Neat ad.

BTW here's the intro to the return of 'the 10 o' clock news' in 20 years. Disregard the title. There's no 'WNYW Plus' but I digress...

Fox 5 has changed the branding of its evening newscasts. Instead of “Fox 5 News at [Time],” they are calling the newscasts “The [Time] O’Clock News.”  This is clearly an homage to the longstanding “The 10 O’Clock News” and somewhat follows the pattern of other newscasts with their own name, like “Good Day New York” and “The Noon.”

What do we think?  I don’t know if I like dropping the “Fox 5” part from the title.

It was just reflected on my YouTubeTV guide. Let's see if any changes could ever closely resemble to the gritty newscasts of yesteryear with certain elements intact.

And here's it is. The FCC just greenlighted the Univision transaction.

Re: WLII... if you believe this, (only source so far reporting it by this note) TVBoricuaUSA is reporting a familiar branding may return to old ch. 11.

    https://www.tvboricuausa.com/2020/12/regresa-teleonce-puerto-rico-univision-2021.html

    Translated:

Following the approval of the sale of Univision by the FCC , channel 11 and its repeater stations in Puerto Rico will have a new identity.

TVboricuaUSA sources assured that the channel will stop being called Univision and will become known as TeleOnce.

The announcement, to be made shortly by Liberman Media Group, would mark TeleOnce's return to channels WLII-TV (channel 11) and its repeater stations WSUR-TV (channel 9) and WOLE-TV (channel 12), which since 2002 they became part of Univision.

It should be noted that WSTE-DT (channel 7) and the Univision Radio stations will continue to be in the hands of Univision.

So 'Univision Puerto Rico' branding to WSTE, perhaps?

  5. FCC has granted Fox another temporary waiver for NJ's WWOR-TV + New York Post rather than permanent due to legal limbo re: its newspaper/broadcast cross-ownership rule.

    https://www.nexttv.com/news/fcc-grants-fox-another-temporary-waiver-for-wwor-tvnew-york-post

    Questions:

1.If its newspaper/broadcast rule eventually dismantles + FOX has to put up WWOR, will WWOR survive as is (under new owner) or basically merge into WNYW + be broadcast virtually from NYW's stick. ("my9" on 5.3?) Where could My9 go if so?

    2. What final resolution you think it'd be made on the cross-ownership rule? What has been the holdup?

    Little follow up.

The FCC greenlighted the WLII deal to Liberman on Thursday (12/10).

according to tapatalk's Puerto Rico forums, its promos no longer identify as "univision puerto rico" only 'univision'. I wonder is it just coincidence or some changes to come? Perhaps simplify branding as 'Univision'. Examples:

here is a link to the special report... looks like their automated system briefly interrupted their local special report with the network special report before someone at local switched back to the EWN report.

I like it how WABC put their special touch in their breaking news re: trebek, led by its main anchor no less. Knowing that 7 carried J! basically since its start, it's genius.

  8. It started at 9pm last night but YT treasure Retrontario put up a livestream of classic CityTV show 'Speakers Corner'. Classic. TorontoTV. If you stay longer, there's a citypulse newscast circa 1989 with commercials. Watch out for Monika Deol. Whew. I wonder if we would see a revival of sorts in times like these. Maybe not in the COVID era, but still...it's on LIVE still + looping. Watch it when you can, not sure if it'll be archived for replay.

Two big 25th anniversaries taken place here in The Lone Star State. 25 years ago today (7/1/95) in Austin, KTBC and KBVO switched network affiliations. KTBC said so long to CBS and said hello to FOX, while KBVO said goodbye to FOX and jump to CBS. And KBVO changed the call letters to K-EYE the next day.

(7/2/95) 25 years ago tomorrow, three TV stations in Dallas/Fort Worth made the switch to new networks. KDFW - CBS to FOX, KTVT - Ind to CBS, and KDAF - FOX to Ind, and later WB.

What a difference 25 years makes for both cities in Texas.

Today though, (7/1/95) marks 25 years since the dawn of a new era for News 4 Texas as the CBS era came to a close that night. Last 2 CBS Programs to have aired on ch. 4 were saturday night staples: Dr. Quinn, Medicine WomanWalker, Texas Ranger

A better name would be ABC World News Midday.

Would national afternoon news of sort work though?, granted it's extension of GMA. Would it replicate elsewhere if successful? Certain places like Argentina + Britain have lunchtime bulletins from what i've seen over at International O&A.

There's a surprise in the Univision sale filing: because some of the owners have attributable interests in WAPA, they are divesting third-rated WLII and not ninth-rated WSTE.

I wonder if the sale includes the Uni affiliation, or will they just move it to WSTE.

Skimming thru FCC filings + based on reasons bolded above, it appears the Univision affiliation + branding may move to WSTE, leaving WLII without an affiliate. It may signal a return to independent a la Teleonce (previous branding until 2002) Some of Uni/Unimas programming could go thru WAPA, while remain an indy. Similar to '90s + '00s when Telemundo PR had some Televisa novelas while WAPA had Uni-network programs (Primer Impacto, Cristina, Despierta Am.) + some Venevision programs. Cisneros groups had interest on ch. 4 back then.

    From another source, translated:

    https://www.tvboricuausa.com/2020/03/incierto-futuro-univision-puerto-rico-venta-canales-11-9-y-12.html

"From what is clear from the document, although not textually, Univisión PR would be passing at some point to the WSTE-DT signal (channel 7), while channels 11, 9 and 12 would be operated by another company (once) time the sale is consummated."

Q: What will happen with WAPA Deportes (sports subchannel) in terms of content? Will it rely more on TUDN + less on deals with NBA + MLB? (via ESPN/Turner/MLBN)

He should take a cue from the guy who slapped the reporter’s ass a few months ago. Didn’t they arrest and charge him with battery sexual assault?

Yep. He was also banned from future races by local sports council that sponsored same race he participated. He claimed on 'Inside Edition' he wanted to call attention to reporter by 'tap her on the shoulder or the back'. His hand appeared to touch lower than either. He also claimed he didn't know where the reporter was as he ran quickly past her. mmm-hmm.

BTW, whoever created that juvenile + sick acronym inspiring f*ckboys like 'it' to display as such just to impress your friends online needs some beating. If that beating proves fatal, so be it. Why is that SHIT still a thing when that's as old as FTW + baba booey? Seriously. That's assault itself before unwanted touching. As for 'it' above, you made your bed, you lie in it. If that defines you for next 20 years, oh well, internet is forever. If that affects your job prospects and/or future relationships down the road, that protects future employers + suitors respectively. Deal.

  13. other notes:

Apparently, Rudabeh Shahbazi (a crush among some here at TVNT) is abruptly out as anchor at WFOR after 5 years. Keyword is abruptly because there is no formal goodbye. After notifying the station that she's leaving for an opportunity as "a national reporter/anchor", Bosses made sure them locks were changed + she don't come back no more. That include not allowing her to retrieve her belongings, according to her. Any guesses on her next step btw?

If that's the case, then WOW! It made my spirit rise up + said Ain't God good? I'm not overtly religious but I felt that much. That said, continued strength + prayers for the family, FOX 8 + NE Ohio. Good news of this sort is sorely needed. 🙏

I'm sorry, i know this was born out of necessity, but much to the chagrin (or probably not) of Reena Ninan + Elaine Quijano, it's gotta continue even when we head toward a (new) normalcy. It's been fun.

It was a mistake and Bill owned it. With all the talk of people dying from COVID 19, it's an understandable slipup. People aren't perfect.

True. It's a situation that is volatile given its unpredictability. But that miscommunication tho...script said 'jack died' but NJ Gov. Murphy said he's alive + all, he might as well said christ has risen on top of it, but i digress. One head (writer) at least must face heat (but not roll, a bit cruel, given a volatile jobs environment) after this.

A homebound reporter at KCRA's partner has given a new meaning to "Out and About" here🤭 (no embed of the tweet or the videos of it below it because I'd like to continue posting here 😉)

And yes, like the auto show guy from KOVR/KMAX a few months back, Hearst/KCRA are pulling all mention of it/the report from every social media channel they have and praying to the FCC gods Ajit is distracted.

obviously unfortunate circumstances BUT you can't tell 'em thirsty broads (and some dudes, no judging) below reactions on twitter or any social for nothing, wishing they were in that reporter's place. 🤭 'Welcoming distraction' indeed. To pray for Ajit Pay-off to sleep over is an understatement.

I guess it won't be just the O&Os anymore. The first non-O&O right here.

maybe it's me but boy did this pandemic forced CBS out of their hand to be 'creative', for now it's due to different circumstances, but this is showcasing local talent thru the ranking (remember where national news talent get their start, LOCAL) maybe this is the path way forward for weekends once the pandemic ends. You can also make the case even if it's one time thing, it could be their audition tape in case either they have plans to take the next step or scouts could be ones searching for them in terms of potential offers.

But does he really? Call me skeptical but anytime a big wig at a cable news network is “part of the story,” that is usually the network trying to milk it for ratings. That would be an absolutely sick thing to do, but let’s be real, do we put it past CNN and Jeff Zucker? “I have COVID-19, but I feel fine and I’m going to continue working from home.” 🤨

I don't see that from him (call me gullible til further notice) but lest we mention his interviews with his fellow governor brother Andrew garner much attention, let alone his 'bromance' transitions with Don Lemon at the top of the hour before Don's show, but one should digress, no? Hell you can make that similar bolded statement for every other (not ALL) 'celebrity' or notables coming out + claiming they've been tested positive. How they got tested sooner than others? Oh wait...but i'll digress this time.

WNBC will also air a full hour at 11pm tonight since late night shows are in repeats.

Questions: once the pandemic subdues, will those newscast(s) remain in near future, at least at 7:00? It just kind of make All Access (Access Hollywood's spinoff) a bit more redundant, no? Will NBC afford to push late night start to midnight permanently?

  21. 1 hour ago, TheRyan said:

Did anyone manage to record it at 6pm?

I have that + 11p news recorded thru youtube tv. I'll bandicam + upload it in near future. Pat Harvey (KCBS) is anchoring 11:00 report.
