  1. It is that time of the year. There is one other debut taking place on September 10. In Knoxville...WATE 6 will be debuting a new lifestyle show at 3pm entitled Living East Tennessee hosted by Kelli Parker and Erin Barnett. The local show will be replacing Judge Judy at 3pm and Family Feud at 4pm.
  2. Here is another rare find that was uploaded...in 2010. I am sharing with you a video about Kris Ketz who was inspired by his father Jim King, a longtime news anchor at WQAD. So, I came across this video and found a rare WQAD news open from 1982 which can be seen at :25. And, it was seen on the night that Kris teamed up with his dad for the 6pm "Active 8 News".
  3. Has anyone ever heard of the sport of ultimate? It's a sport using a frisbee and three Knoxville stations featured stories about that sport in the 1980s. Here is a video containing three stories from WATE, WTVK and WBIR.
  4. I know who this is. It's Doug Jeffers. You can go to http://www.dougjeffers.com/index.php/portfolio/promos and hear some of his work. I do remember his voice from a CompUSA commercial that aired in the 1990s.
  5. For several years, a WTLV newscast from 1972 has been circulating with news anchor Eric Andersen. Now, we have another WTLV newscast from that year, but with a different news anchor, Tom Sanders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANnw3Co-3CQ Watch beginning at 5:02:47.
  6. I am up all night and I come across a localized version of NBC's Our Pride is Showing for KARK-TV in Little Rock. The video contains the classic Gannett ID at the end.
  7. On YouTube, you never know what you'll find. Back in 1988, Gregg Jarrett (now of FOX News) worked for WKFT-TV, the independent station serving Raleigh, Durham and Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was the news anchor for the station's 10pm news. Here is a tease that aired one hour before the newscast aired. This one features an unknown theme. Please note that this was uploaded nine years ago.
  8. In Minneapolis, WCCO had the "Bedtime Nooz" for so many years. But in Los Angeles, KTTV had its own comedy news show known as "Metronews, Metronews" or MN2. So, here is a clip of that show featuring Ralph Harris.
  9. The video is mislabled, but it contains a WIS-TV 11pm open from the mid 1980s. The theme WIS used was also used in many NBC News promotions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30VOtcPl-0k
  10. We take you back to 1983 as WVEC Norfolk brings you the 6pm report. A news open is included with an unknown theme being used.
  11. I recently came across this... http://www.kbtx.com/content/misc/KBTX-60th-Anniversary-Photo-Album-411377435.html This page contains some photos and videos. One of the videos includes a news open from KBTX's "Dimension 3 News" era in the late 1970s.

But that's not all, here is a news open for the final WYMT newscast anchored by Tony Turner before his death. But wait, there's more, here's a WYMT news intro from 2000.
  14. It's good to see some rare news videos being shared on this post. Here is one that is a rarity. From 1973, here are some clips from network television as recorded from Los Angeles TV. Take note at 2:06 where the CBS Evening News is interrupted with a late news development concerning Richard Nixon. If I am not mistaken, this aired in portions of the West Coast.
  15. I am posting this, because this is some of the rarest clips of KXAS you'll ever find. News opens from 1984 are at :14 and 1:19. The opens feature an unknown theme and some amazing graphics used during the final years of "Action News." But that's not all. Jack Trammell's YouTube channel also has this rare video from KFDX. News open can be seen at 5:56. And this... News open can be seen at 8:06. KFDX used Tap Root Manuscript during the 1980s. Oh and one more... News open with ID can be seen at 9:56.
  16. Here is the first few minutes of KOTA's Newsline from 1987. I recently found this out. KOTA's Newsline theme was also used for its "Battle of the Video Games" tournament special on KTLA four years before in 1983.

  21. Get ready for "Dateline 6". "Dateline 6" was WABG's newscast title in 1978. I say this, because we feature a rare look at WABG's news operation back in 1978. Courtesy of former WABG anchor Calvin Dean, here is a clip of a WABG newscast from 1978 with a clip of their news intro.
  22. Here is a rare KFBB news open from 1998 featuring the classic KFMB/CFPL news theme.
  23. We take you back to 1993 where WBOY-TV brings you the weekend edition of "News 12" with news open included.
  24. I agree. WLS pre-1971 is rare. Speaking of rare, it looks like I may have hit the jackpot after all. I have three rare newscasts to share. One from Charlotte, one from Knoxville and one from Peoria. First, we take you back to 1986 where WPCQ-TV in Charlotte brings you the 5:30pm news. You can see the news open at 0:37. Then, we take you one year later to 1987 where WBIR-TV in Knoxville brings you "Action 10 News". But that's not all, we take you back to 1985 where WRAU-TV in Peoria brings you "19 Eyewitness News" All of these are courtesy of Mark Butzow who produced the WBIR newscast from 1987.
