  1. I have found a rare KQTV news open from 1990. You can see it at :32 and it features a news theme I never heard before.
  2. We take you to 1985 and a Christmas party tape from WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa, AL. (Unknown news theme can be heard at :26 for a promo)
  3. This is news music-related, but I recently found out that a radio station in Puerto Rico used TM's "All The News" package back in the 1980s. The station: WAEL radio in Mayaguez. You can listen to the clip at 8:38.
  4. We take you back to the 1980s and some rare WIBW footage. (Unknown news theme can be heard at 1:02)
  5. Here is some classic KTHI "News 11" from 1987. The clip features a news close after a segment called "The Mel Stone Report". They used Tuesday's "All We Are, We Are For You".
  6. Here's KAMR in 1995 in the form of news teases. But that's not all...here's WLFI in the 1980s. The theme they used: VTS' NewsScore. This was before they used Gari's Turn To News.
  7. As I listen to this reel, it makes me realize how big this find is. I do recognize "The Spirit of Joplin and 12 Together" because KODE-TV in Joplin was the one. I did check the client list and I saw that WATE-TV in Knoxville used something from Peters. Hmm... It makes me wonder if they used a news theme or a promo piece from Peters.
  8. In 2013, KAIT in Jonesboro celebrated its 50th anniversary. As I post this, the videos from their 50th anniversary are still on the website including some blooper reels. The second blooper reel contains some news opens including opens at 2:23, 4:15 and 4:49 with unknown news themes. http://www.kait8.com/clip/9062834/blooper-reel-two
  9. I recently came across some important information you may want to read. WROC's 1987 news theme, also used by KDKA in Pittsburgh, was composed by none other than John Sutton. This is according to a post by Ron Dylewski on the Rochester, NY News & Television Archive Facebook page. He states: "But I was involved in doing WROC's theme in the 80's and it was not a Klein and Co thing as I recall, it was composed by John Sutton who did the "KD and You" theme for KDKA. The timing seems right. We went to Nashville and did an ROC version, struggling a bit with how to say "Rochester." As I post this, here is another sample of the classic KDKA theme used on WROC in the late 1980s.
  10. Raymie, I checked the NMSA and it was also used by KJEO (now KGPE) in Fresno as the "KJEO 1993 News Theme". EDIT: I did check both the "KJEO 1988 News Theme" and the "KJEO 1993 News Theme". Both of these themes had a 5-note signature which could be part of a package.
  11. We take you back to 1988 where we feature the first minutes of a 10pm newscast as seen on KIDK-TV 3. It features a news open with an unknown news theme.
  12. We take you back to 1980 and a rare look at WSAV as an NBC station during this period. A news brief can be seen at 5:19 and an ID at 8:43 featuring an unknown news theme WSAV may have used during this period.
  13. Here is a WCYB news intro from 1994. Go to 29:53 to view the Closed Captioned grant sponsor before the intro,
  14. An interesting KOMU news update from 1982. How about a KOMU news open from a few years before? We have it.
  15. Hey Jim! The news open compilations are great. I have a request: Do you have anymore newscasts or news opens from Knoxville? Would love to see some more.
  16. Here is some rare TV-DX clips from the 1980s. Watch for a WHOI news close from 1986 at 3:58, a WICS news clip with "Power News" at 5:04 and a rare WLIO news open clip at 8:41 which features a never-heard-before news theme.
  17. Get ready to feel "That Macon Spirit" with promos recorded from WGXA-TV 24, Macon's ABC affiliate, during the early 1980s. More rare Macon television as WCWB-TV brings you a localized version of NBC's "Proud As A Peacock" promo campaign. An ID is included. "Action News 2, Where You'll Be The First to Know". Here are three promos featuring the news team of John Pruitt and Monica Pearson (then Monica Kaufman).
  18. Here is some classic KOTA in the form of Art Jones morning intros. At 1:36 is a "KOTA Territory AM News" intro. These were recorded back in the 1990s. Here's a partial KOTA newscast. From 1987! It features an unknown theme piece which sounds great.
  19. Here is a WWMT "Hello" promo recorded sometime in the 1990s. The promo features Florence Warner as she sings an updated version of "Hello West Michigan". You may remember her doing a promo from WEWS as she was seen on-camera doing a 30-second version of "Catch 5" in a promo. Hope you enjoy. What about a choir version of WWMT's "Hello West Michigan"? We have that.
  20. There is no open, but here are the final few minutes of a WPLG newscast from 1981. Dig the closing theme with Thom Allen voice-over.
  21. I don't think this WTAJ news open has been shared. The news open is seen at 17:40 and is a custom version of the classic Tom Sellers "Action News" theme done by Frederick Morden. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=SyLUwXO62EQ;t=1060 Here is a WJHL news promo from 1985 with an unknown theme. Sounds like Tuesday Productions or Network Music? How about more WJHL? This, to me, sounds like a TM Productions piece.
  22. I have identified the composer of the unknown WJBF closing theme from 1989. It was Score Productions who did a number of themes for ABC News during the 1980s and 1990s. The closing theme was also used on ABC News' Business World broadcasts hosted by Sander Vanocur.
  23. hmaxhanson, it's good that you shared this video. The WOWT "Action News 6" logo font was also used for WBIR's newscast logo during this period. I did check the YouTube channel and have not seen any new videos. However, the cover picture is of three classic Omaha station logos (KMTV, WOWT and KETV) with the profile pic being a KPTM logo designed by Television by Design. I have to agree with you, because I believe some rare Omaha news content is coming our way soon.
  24. Now that's rare. WBKP using "Move Closer To Your World"? That's interesting. Here is a WTSP "Action News" intro from 1984. Here's a "KIMA NewsBeat" broadcast from April 1988 with a neat intro.
  25. Does anyone know what the theme piece is from Network Music? This was used on KHJ for their movie opens.
