WFLA from 1994 here:

Longtime WTSP chief meteorologist Dick Fletcher reads a promo in 1984 for the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon followed by a "Storm Seeker" Radar promo. Lots of Tampa Bay clips on this channel (See them before they get pulled!):
A WTSP promo from 1983:
WTVT promo from 1994 promoting the switch from CBS to Fox:

Another Tampa Bay news open! WXFL 11pm from 1987:

A huge compilation of promos, news opens, and other material from WFLA between 1987 and 1995. A lot of the material from 23:00 to 29:00 is from the 1993-95 tabloid era. Some real gems here:

WTSP from 11/5/94. Lots of promos for the switch from ABC to CBS.

Let me see if I got this right, and again I could be wrong. WTSP was airing CTM (CBS This Morning) and TPIR (The Price is Right) on a ABC station (Now a CBS station). WTVT expanded their morning news show GDTB (Good Day Tampa Bay, 7-9am) on a CBS station (Now a FOX station). And WFTS was airing GMA and maybe Mike & Matty on a FOX station (Now an ABC station).
Yes. Confusion all around unless you're WFLA.

I remember when WTSP showed the MDA Labor Day telethon that year they were advertising CBS This Morning and The Price Is Right moving on September 12th. Only the network morning shows and morning daytime shows which was only TPIR and ABC’s Mike and Maty at that time switched channels prior to December 12th.
Getting TPIR was a coup for WTSP and so was Late Night with David Letterman. Always baffled me how WTSP has been an underperformer in news but great in programming along with airing Wheel and Jeopardy!.

I think you are right. I'm not sure if they were doing any local news yet, though. There is a preview video on YT for WFTS "28 Tampa Bay News" that says "Starting December 12th"

WTSP (ABC) from 9/10/94 with a CBS This Morning promo touting the program's switch from WTVT to WTSP which took place on 9/12/94. I also didn't realize The Price Is Right moved over well before the official switch on 12/12/94.

Two former Tampa Bay TV anchors are working together on a project.
John Wilson and Reginald Roundtree, who both had stints at WTSP, are working together on a project about serial killer Ted Bundy. The story is behind a paywall, regrettably.

Hey noggi that's a really neat book you have there from 1980 on old local TV news sets from around the country! Can you scan off and post a picture of the old news set for WAGA-TV in Atlanta, GA from that book? Would love to see it if possible and it would be wonderfully appreciated!!!
I'd be interested to see what WJXT and WTOL were using in 1980.

According to the NMSA, the music used by KGTV & KMGH in the 1970's is a production track called "Home Run" by KPM. The music was sped up by 125%.
Holy cow is it glorious!

Has WSVN ever acknowledged their past before? That's a nice tribute.

It is very clearly from a production library. Maybe Killer Tracks? Compare to the PRISM Sports logo on
EDIT: KT31-15 "Zap Ya" https://www.universalproductionmusic.com/en-us/discover/albums/589/sweepers-and-stingers-volume-1
They've added some of the stings from Dawn (track 37) for WBNS...not sure if that was a separate edit.
Thanks to Samantha for ID'ing the "WBNS 1994 News Theme" used from December 1993 to sometime in 1996, as it appears another short lived theme replaced it before the June 1996 new Gari music.

A 1994 WBNS open
Baffling that nobody has been able to identify the "techno" news theme that WBNS was using.

In Columbus, WCMH early evening coanchor Darlene Hill is apparently leaving Columbus. Weekend anchor Jennifer Bullock announced tonight she is leaving weekends and moving to the 'early evening' newscasts. Darlene's Twitter seems to indicate she's returning to Chicago.

The music at the end of the KOMO newscast is interesting. I don't think the KING newscast had any music, did it?

For those curious about the 1989 computer scandal that affected WTSP and WTVT, here is a brief segment covering the players/culprits in a 1990 retrospective aired on WTSP "Ten on Ten: Tampa Bay's Decade":
