In memory of Roy Leep and the "Pulse 13" weather team:

Tampa Bay TV Weather Pioneer Roy Leep has passed away. He was 88.
Leep worked at WTVT from 1957 to 1997. He was regarded as a leader in broadcast meteorology and pioneered radar and satellite observations along with tropical weather.

Brief WTSP "Action News" with John Wilson spot from 1989:

A pair of WTSP "Action News" promotions from May 1989:

1993 WFLA "NewsWatch 8" Update using the 1992 graphics that would get dumped in August of '93. The backdrop behind Diane is unusual and I suspect this might be just before the switch to "NewsChannel 8"
WTSP 1993 morning news promo with Al Ruechel and Madeleine Holland:

A clip of WTSP's Murphy in the Morning which ran from 1985 to August 1991, when it was cancelled. It was the last local morning talk program that aired on WTSP. Bill Murphy, of course, had a long run on WTVT's morning news from 1994 to 2009.

There's a bunch of vintage WTSP material on this channel including a blooper tape from 1984 and Hurricane Elena footage from 1985. I'm afraid it may get pulled soon, so enjoy while it lasts!!

KING 5 News at 5:00, the afternoon before the 1992 election. Jean Enersen, Barry Judge, Jeff Renner, Tony Ventrella...a classic Seattle anchor lineup.
So that's where Barry Judge ended up after WPTV.

WTSP 11 P.M. news preview from 3/3/1992 with Sheryl Browne and John Wilson. At this point, the station was using "Great News" after two months or less of "On Your Side" by 615:

WTVN Ch. 6 (now WSYX) morning news cut-in from 1986 with Ted Hart, who also worked at WBNS and WCMH:

WOWK 1994 promo with Tom McGee and Sandra Cole:

Complete WTSP 6:00 newscast from March 1992 with the station using "Great News" and a brand new set
Special memories of Dick Fletcher, Bill Campbell and Jerry Johnson

WPLG's 6PM news from 8/19/91 with Dwight and Ann. Brand New studio set and graphics that apparently debuted sometime that summer. (The set was very odd looking, IMO)

WFLA (& brief WTVT at the end) from 1994/95 era:

WGN's late 70's theme is called "Botticelli's Theme" by the Botticelli Orchestra. Someone discovered it about a month ago and I submitted it to the NMSA.

And possibly the earliest complete ABC newscast I know of, from January 25, 1968 (one of the first after Bob Young took over the lead anchor job when it was determined Peter Jennings was clearly too green to be a network anchor)
So it sounds like NBC Nightly News wasn't the first network newscast to have a "news theme" although I'm sure it was probably library music.

Very early WTSP "10 News" promo from January 1992 after the rebrand from "NewsCenter 10". Also, there are several promos that do not appear to have Gari's "Great News" and might be "On Your Side" by 615.

WFLA in late 1993:

A news close from WFLA in 1995. Now, the set they were using, I have no memory of. It's a combination of the 1988 news desk with a backdrop that sorta resembles the 1993 overhaul. A temporary set, maybe?

WALA "10 Alive" from 1981. Also a bunch of other WALA clips on this YT channel

WTVT (CBS) from 1994, just weeks before the New World deal was announced. Several former WTVT staffers have mentioned on Facebook about remembering the day that staff gathered in studio B to hear the "jaw-dropping"news about the switch to Fox

WSB-TV 1992- Noon News w/ Chris Curle [Justin Farmer's mother] Vic Carter [Now at WJZ]
I'm a simple man. I see a vintage WSB video and click on it. Never am I let down.
So this confirms the "Image VIII" theme was used in '92.

WTVT "PULSE" spot from early 1982. Note the music, which is from a promo supposedly from 1979

From 1987, CBS Morning News with Faith Daniels and the legendary Douglas Edwards (who had anchored the CBS Evening News before Cronkite replaced him in 1962):
I've never seen that particular set before. Did CBS just use that for "CBS Morning News" or did it have other uses?

WSYX 1997 11 p.m. open. The music/intro was only used a brief time, from what I recall, like summer of 1997 to early 1998. The graphics were very sharp.
