They’re moving to an entirely new space upstairs which would necessitate a new set.

We're taking about 65+ stations, not one, two or a dozen. This is an unprecedented (and very troubling) move by Nexstar and Sinclair. They can take this newfound leverage and wield it however they like without consequence.

With his contract with ABC reportedly ending in May 2026, my guess is that both he and ABC will decided to end the show. It's a question of when, not if at this point as I can't see a way forward. Nexstar and Sinclair can now easily object to anything and everything he (and anyone else at ABC) says. Once that door is open, there is no shutting it. As I have said before, whenever possible; people should do their own thing independently of having to answer to someone else.

I'm not mad at this. 'The Playlist' is something different and is providing some real-time information. Not sure why they chose to air this from 6-9P instead of 7-10P however.

Fox 32 News Director Glenn Dacy exits; succeeded by Sean O’Heir It's unclear why Dacy decided to leave after only one year as VP, News Content and Streaming. O'Heir, most recently served as VP, Programming and Development and Executive Sports Producer at WFLD

Paramount Picks Kenneth R. Weinstein, Former Head Of Right-Leaning Think Tank, As Ombudsman For CBS News ‘Weinstein has no experience in working in the day-to-day operations of a news organization. It’s unclear what the repercussions will be if, say, Cibrowski (President/Executive Editor - CBS News) disagrees with the ombudsman’s conclusions and declines to take actions.’

I'm going to say Chicago Sports Report is a mistake. Both DirecTV and Samsung Guide has The Chicago Report at 10P. Also, TCR is likely a replacement for Paris on Politics given the description/tagline for TCR is ...'Newsmakers go on the record to answer the big questions'. I would say you're correct about Chicago Playlist. Also, can they lay off having 'Chicago' in the title of every new show/program?

It's not the issue of using woods (and/or metals, etc..). The new just doesn't blend well with the old. The wood looks like a cheap, thin veneer. Maybe they couldn't source any of the older set materials. And if that was the case, they probably would have been better off leaving things as is or re-doing the entire set. The set is a mish mash now.

After being MIA for weeks, Nate Rodgers is no longer with the station. His bio was removed earlier this week. His ‘dismissal’ likely centers around participating in a ‘Good Trouble’ political rally in July where he introduced Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, etc… which is a big no-no as a journalist.
-
Reportedly, 'The Chicago Report' is slated to air at 10P. Not sure what this program is (a replacement for Paris on Politics?, a newscast, etc...). Guess we'll see next week. I'm sticking with 'Chicago Sports Tonight' airing at 9:30P.

I don't think Chris (nor NewsNation) believed he was going to bring in the same amount of viewers as he had at CNN. He was/is a familiar face (to viewers) and despite some baggage, would draw in people to the fledgling network that is News Nation. Move importantly, given the current state of cable (and linear television in general); any viewership gains should be viewed as a positive. And to no surprise, the New York Post didn't put this issue/topic in the proper context.

First Llamas, now Cuomo... Sounds like another New York Post hit piece. From today's (8/30/25), Crains Chicago Business: 'Even so [in related to Cuomo's ratings], NewsNation has been growing overall, according to Nielsen figures. Nielsen figures indicate that Cuomo’s show is up nearly 25% in total viewers compared with his first quarter on the network, suggesting that while the audience remains modest compared with rivals, it has grown steadily since launch.'

Paramount Job Cuts Coming In November, Cost Savings To Exceed $2 Billion

From what I've seen over the past year or so, Ed works primarily from home (like Mary Kay). He is rarely in studio.

I think the severe weather on Monday may have caught them off guard because Kylee looked a bit disheveled as if she was called in and had to rush to get to the station. As far as Ed, my guess is that they're more than willing to accommodate him any way they can because of his health. That said, he could just be taking the Summer off (given WBBM has a relatively large weather team and fully capable of managing things).
-
It doesn't seem like much thought was given when it came to design. Plus, I believe the weather desk isn't a functional work station and is just for show. The only good thing is the addition of the touch screen (which I assume is/was the one from the weather center). Honestly, they could have just added that, replaced the old FOX 32 logos, changed from TV monitors to LED seamless panels in the alcove and called it a day.

For some reason, they like to operate very bare bones (i.e... only having 1 reporter in the field at 4P, 5P and 9P). I'm going to chalk it up to it being Summer and they may feel an hour isn't necessary at 9P; but it gives the impression they don't care about being competitive during most day parts/days. They do have a news reporter/content creator job posted, but knowing them, they will only hire 1 person when they need at least 4 more reporters.
-
WGN hires Akemi Harrison as News Director Harrison held the same position at WMAQ - NBC 5 and leaves the station at a pivotal time as it looks to combine the newsrooms of WMAQ and WSNS into one.
-
I agree. They have reduced the 9P newscast to 30 minutes M-F. My guess is that 'Chicago Sports Tonight' will be slotted in at 9:30P this Fall.
-
Here’s a look at the new parts of the main set. As I have mentioned before, don’t think it blends well with the older areas, but it is what it is. Really hate the brushed metal elements behind the big monitor and in other areas. At least they added a touch screen…

Excellent points. MS NOW is just lazy and lacks any sense of creativity. Too bad MSN is taken. That would have been perfect (if they didn't want a completely different name).
-
According to the DirecTV guide…. Starting September 3, ‘Chicago Now’ will air from 10a-12p. Sherri will move to 1P. Jennifer Hudson will air at 2P followed by TMZ Live at 3P (no change). Not sure if this is a just a limited trial run or permanent.
-
I read he is likely destined for a role with the 'California Post', the sister publication of the 'New York Post.'
-
Once the merger became a done deal and coupled with the lost of key people who championed the new 'CBS Evening News'; major changes were inevitable. That's a likely scenario.... That way, they can attempt to save face as best they can.

No. Ponce & Cody do the 10A hour and Tia does the 11A. I think they’re still trying to differentiate between the two hours, so it’s very much a work in progress. Also, since Elizabeth is still dealing with the effects of shingles, my guess is that they’re trying to keep her workload as light as possible for the foreseeable future.
