  1. A new streaming show made its debut recently… ‘Chicago Live’. It’s like a local version of ‘LiveNOW from Fox’. Not sure if Elizabeth Matthews will be handling anchor duties M-F or will do M-W while retaining her anchor duties on the weekend editions of GDC. Chicago Live airs at 1P. Also worth noting is that they no longer air a repeat of the 10A hr. of ’Chicago Now’ at 11A. Instead, viewers get a new 2nd hour of CN hosted by Tia Ewing. I’m not sure if they have settled on who will co-host with Ewing.
  2. The easiest answer to your question is that you don’t want to put just anyone in an anchor position unless you feel they are capable of handling the role. Which is why most anchor roles go to those with experience and have ‘paid their dues.’ And the majority of anchors still report in some fashion (whether it’s daily/weekly, special reports, news features, in the field covering breaking news, etc…). I don’t think there are many anchors that just anchor and nothing else.
  3. Fox extended their deal with Hulu/Disney last year to continue airing in-season shows the day after their linear broadcast. My guess is that a program's library (in all or parts) will be available on Fox One too. For example, only season 3 of Animal Control is available on Hulu and not the previous seasons. One would assume, season 1 & 2 will be on Fox One and once season 4 starts, then season 3 moves from Hulu to Fox One and so on.... I think the question is whether all Fox entertainment programs move to Fox One once the Hulu deal ends in 2029 or will they continue sharing content. I believe so. i think they want to offer bundles (Fox One & Fox Nation or Fox One, Fox Nation & Tubi, etc..) down the line too.
  4. Isn't WDFL a virtual channel? Wild guess, but that could be the/a reason why it's not featured. Aside from WSVN being the more 'known' brand, if you will, of the two.
  5. Didn't have NY in mind. Just noting the lost of two tenants and that WLS will now have to shoulder the responsibility of maintaining a old building alone. Plus, with their competitors (WMAQ, WBBM and WFLD) having moved/or will move into newer, more modern spaces; it's not outside the realm of possibilities they 'may' feel the need to keep up....
  6. True. With ESPN 1000 leaving for the Board of Trade building (and WLS AM/FM having left in 2017); it wouldn't make much sense to spend a significant amount money on a new set, etc.. in a 100+ year old building when, odds are, they too will move to a new & modern facility down the line.
  7. The audience is not there and affiliates would likely revolt over such a move. I think the best course of action for Colbert, Kimmel, etc… would be to find a different avenue to voice their opinions, offer engaging discussions, etc.. in which they have control and don’t have to worry about a corporate overlord.
  8. I doubt CBS' stake in 'Beyond the Gates' is a huge one. They have two other partners (Procter and NAACP), one of which has a very long history when it comes to soaps. I'm sure each party ran every scenario possible to make the financials work. I'm going to avoid going down the rabbit hole about the cancellation of 'The Late Show..' and suggest that CBS could tryout a 'Daytime at Nighttime' situation next Summer as a trial run and 'if' it works, it will become permanent. I can't see them giving the time slot(s) back to the affiliates if the risk vs reward, if you will, is minimal (i.e.. money can be made).
  9. I can’t see CBS spending a ton of $$$ on a new facility when they ‘could’ make the existing one work. A lot of people could be hybrid and/or WFH and not require a work space. That said, I believe there is an empty building (a clean slate) next to WUPA’s current building that they could take over and build to their own specifications. That would likely be much easier/cheaper than moving elsewhere.
  10. The 4:30A Weekday slot is Roseanne’s. Elizabeth (and Brian) were filling in until she came back. Elizabeth hasn’t been on weekend mornings for weeks (she developed shingles… Mark was the one who suggested she go to urgent care to get checked out). I believe Mark said Elizabeth is expected to be back next weekend.
  11. Sports Anchor/Reporter Cassie Carlson anchored Good Day Chicago this morning. I believe this is a first for her (anchoring a non-sports program/newscast).
  12. Are you talking about Mary Calvi? If so, according to her bio, co-anchoring at Noon is part of her responsibilities.
  13. Looking pretty good. I’m sure they will be happy to have some breathing room given their current situation. My guess is a November reveal [ in time for sweeps ].

  15. The floor is made up of LED panels.
  16. Without question, sets with very little physical elements are the future (whether it's at the national or local level). I think in GMA case, more tighter shots and less wide shots would lessen the studio's cavernous feel. Plus, leaving certain pieces in place (chairs, tables, etc... instead of moving them in/out) would help create some depth. Kudos to them for adding some plants, but a painting, a credenza (or two) and some vases wouldn't have broken the budget...
  17. Is it possible they're both off this week? Ratings have been solid/stable, so there's no reason to get rid of them. Missing premiere week of the new studio may be 'suspicious', but it could be mean nothing at all....
  18. I agree the new GMA set needed more physical elements. When they're away from the desk, it feels like they are floating/hovering at times and the glossy floor doesn't help matters. I don't like the color palette, but it is what it is. I wonder what CBS Mornings/Plus will look like when they move to Studio 47. I assume, given it's size and AR/VR capabilities; this studio will serve as Election Night HQ, etc.. as well??? I'm curious to see how this set/studio looks in different settings.
  19. See the door behind Emily? That leads (is connected) to the main studio. I’ve been there before…
  20. Not really given that that's not new technology. New to GMA?? Sure.., but not new within the industry. Anyway, we'll see how everything flows together on Monday. Only suggesting people may want to temper their expectations, if you will....
  21. The faux windows were cool and could have been re-purposed somewhere. Throwing up a bunch of tv monitors, etc… seems like a step backwards design-wise. Is another weather center/area really necessary? The current weather center is literally a few feet away and connected to the main studio. Hopefully this area is multi-purpose otherwise this seems like a waste of space.
  22. I agree. If you’re already spending money, you might as well design something different.
  23. From what I understand, the new GMA set will not be radically different from the current one. Guess we’ll see soon enough.
  24. Looks like they’re getting close to unveiling the new stand up area near the desk. The scope of work ‘appears’ to be in areas where the old Fox 32 logo was featured. While I commend them for trying to blend the old with the new, I’m not sure I like the end result. Maybe it will look better when fully lit.
