Did anyone see the new graphic pop up at the end of Eyewitness News at Noon today? Right after the anchors signed off, a new graphic came up that had the director name, etc, but immediately came down and the copyright showed up

That shows up sometime when they have a little extra time left at noon.

KSHB 1993 9pm. Yes, KSHB had a newscast as a Fox affiliate. This is something else...it even rivals opens from WBBM and KSAT. The graphic designers should also be shamed for that black and white flickering effect... It may even be a "worst news opens" entrant.

Guess what?, you got it. KSHB "Fox 41 News" Open 1993:

revin hatol does that. That open looks more like 1983, and while it does have a common musical signature with 1990, the instrumentation is a little older.

That's video of a stealth bomber, and that wasn't flown until the late 80s.

That anchor is Cheryl McHenry and she been at WHIO since '81
  4. No it was a different one. That cue with the one you're talking about is one of those 5 second tag from another theme Series 1. This one was a different one. It was aired at the start of the 6pm open with Charlie Van Dyke stating "This is Breaking News from Channel 7 Eyewitness News" or something along those lines and then they showed what happened in Oklahoma. The cue begins with the WABC Melody' date=' and then you'll hear that
. It's like someone smack-dab that melody on there. This obviously had to be customized.

They played that open twice, on the 6pm & the 11pm. I missed the open on the 11pm because I saw the stream too late to see it. When I saw it at six, I didn't even notice the vamp part because it was played kind of quietly, until like the 10 secs. into it and then I noticed it.

On a different note, when I saw the Sunday morning 9am broadcast online, I was shocked that they got rid of the Series 1 bumper they used to play all the time on the weekends. When did they stop playing that bumper? Was it when they moved to new studio?

They play the Series 1 bumper during the community calendar segment.

I captured the audio of the breaking news open. I captured it as they were finishing airing that police press conference. I knew they were going to air it because of that story and the developments of the Tornado in OK area. That breaking new cue has been used on KABC for god knows how long. Even after they used the NG1 theme in 2006.

That cue was around during 1997 as a promo cut.
  5. They say it's always good to keep your face on tv to keep from getting rusty and in hopes of the next big opportunity. Jim Watkins is on FiOS1 News this morning, filling in for CJ Papa. That's really scraping the bottom although I applaud him for his tenacity. I really hope he does get something big since he's very good. How can he do this though? I thought he was on News12 Westchester. Cablevision and Verizon are direct competitors.

    He's freelancing.
  6. I'm not quite sure what you'd call this...

The station otherwise simulcasts KABB/San Antonio's morning and 9pm newscasts. What KIDY is producing seems to be a local insert into the 9pm news hour.

For a second, I thought the logo said kiddy FOX. And worse, their web address is myfoxzone.com

  7. Scary event on KUSA's morning show in Denver today. This morning 9News was doing an interview with the dog's owner. Long story short the dog fell into a icy pond after going after a Coyote yesterday. Anyway they had the dog and his owner on the morning show so the owner can talk about the ice rescue. Kyle Dyer morning anchor at 9News decided to try and give the dog a kiss and the dog bit Kyle in the face. No word as of yet of the extent of her injuries but she is in the hospital.

KDVR's news director called the other Denver stations "wimps" for not airing that footage of the bite.

It seems they're now providing a 7 day weather forecast.

The weather graphics are the same.

  9. Was just going through the channel guide on my tv.. It showed eyewitness news at 11 on from 11-12.. I remember something being mentioned this in the past.. Is this the first week they're doing this or has it been going on for a while?

It's been a hour long newscast on the weekends since Jan. 7th.
