  1. Have they announced when the new ticker will make its official, permanent debut? I know it'll be before the start of the Football season but, what specific date have they set for that debut?

    This Monday.

  2. Hopefully they use her for the evening newscasts. I don't understand why they have a sports anchor on good day but not at night

    Tonight on:

A station which has a sports anchor who works Sunday evenings and weekday mornings, a separate reporter (Erika Wachter) on Saturdays, and no one for weeknights.

  3. I forgot to add this, four weeks ago NY1 has outsourced their sports highlights to their sister station (27%) SportsNet New York. http://www.publicnow.com/view/C77891E373F93858D660FFBA7A4FA5143FFF29E8

The recorded 5 minute segment called "SNY on NY1" for the first week aired only during the 11pm update Monday to Friday, they now moved it to "NY1 Live at Ten" the week after. This segment (recorded on NY1 because SNY SportsNite airs live at 10:30pm) only airs around 10:50 pm Monday to Fridays only, this doesn't airs on mornings, evenings, or weekends because the main anchors handle it.

The first two weeks SNY used their own L3's (seen below) before switching to NY1's L3's.

  4. NY1 and the Spectrum News NY stations have upgraded the their weather graphics icons last week.

    Old:

New: (NY1 still uses the percentages on the forecast.)

  5. Here's NY1's brand new news studio, two months in the making. Weather used to done in upstairs near the weather office. Has a loft apartment feel to it and I like how use the beams as a focal point.

  6. Good and bad news for NY1.

Good: Pat Kiernan celebrated 20 years as morning anchor today by handing out free breakfast to people and mentioned that Mornings on 1 will debut on October 23rd. And Optimum has finally starting broadcasting NY1 in HD (NY1 Noticias is still in SD).

Bad: Sports on 1: The Last Word, a late night call-in sports show has been cancelled after 25 years yesterday, as FTV Live reported earlier this month that the entire sports department will be shut down.

  7. Anyone aware of any details about this? I looked up NY1 on Wikipedia and it looks like they could be debuting a new local morning show called Mornings on 1.

Pat Kiernan mentioned on Instagram that Mornings on 1 is debuting around the same time as the new news set in October as they're using the new talk set temporary for the moment.

Update: Mornings on 1 will be a three hour live newscast from 6 to 9am weekdays starting around October 23rd with Pat Kiernan, Jamie Stelter with traffic, and Stacy-Ann Gooden with the weather.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/ny1-switching-live-three-hour-morning-show-article-1.3509485

Right now, the only live newscasts are a 30 minute 8am newscast every day, Noon (an hour weekdays, and an half-hour on weekends), and 10 minute update at 6pm on the weekends only. Only the live shot and sports are live during News at 11.

  8. More of the new set:

It replaces this main news set which was in use since December 16th, 2013.

P.S: NY1 finally added more in-house on-air meteorologists. Stacy-Ann Gooden (from WNYW & News 12) for mornings, and Erick Adame (from their sister station in Syracuse) in the evenings.

  9. NY1 has a new set, it premiered on September 6th first for "Inside City Hall". All programming now comes from this set since the 13th.

The walls do change color, blue for news, dark purple for "Inside City Hall", teal for "Sports on 1", and light purple for "In Focus with Cheryl Willis" (a new Spectrum News public affairs show.)
