  1. The AccuWeather team launched a promo featuring TENGA like graphics. I didn't see the video but this is just a promo, I repeat this is JUST A PROMO! They will definitely not use these anytime soon as weather or news graphics.

  2. Someone post YouTube videos.

KMID just posted this 40 minutes ago, the talent open is at 17:50.

It's a BIG improvement from what they used to have, KMID is now using Aerial with Charlie Van Dyke's voice.

  3. I seen meteorologist Jeff Smith holding a new microphone similar to what the European stations use, the only other station I seen using that is KTVX in Utah.

  4. The verbal references without no web tag are silly, but even though 7online was more than okay, I'd imagine the abc7NY moniker came from network.

I doubt it. The rest of the group Twitter handles differ from the website except for KABC, KFSN, WABC, & WPVI.

    KABC: abc7.com/ @abc7

    KFSN: abc30.com/ @abc30

KGO: abc7news.com/ @abc7newsbayarea (@abc7news was taken by WJLA)

KTRK: abc13.com/ @abc13houston (@abc13 was taken by WSET)

    WABC: abc7ny.com/ abc7ny

    WLS: abc7chicago.com/ @abc7chicago

    WPVI: 6abc.com/ @6abc

    WTVD: abc11.com/ abc11_wtvd (@abc11 was taken by a person)

  5. Interesting they said "and meteorologist Bill Evans" instead of "and Bill Evans with the exclusive Accu-Weather forecast." Also, they didn't have a shot together the 3 of them with "Now Eyewitness News at Noon" or anything. Plus, they didn't used to have a talent open at 12:30pm. So some differences with this open.

The Noon open is played normally including "and Bill Evans with the AccuWeather forecast" and the three of them standing together.

P.S. Lee is in for Bill today at noon.

  6. Have we seen them yet? By that I mean the ones in some of the special promos and Protect Our Children bump?

The new "Protect Our Children" graphics debuted over the weekend, the music for it was changed two days later to the KABC morning cut.
  7.

Question: when Dana is out.. Why don't they use Dick and Alice to fill in at 6 rather than Maurice and Kristine.. Give Dick and Alice some exposure to CBS2 viewers (since optimum doesn't get 10/55)

Where you live because I have Optimum in the Bronx and I get WLNY on channel 10.
  8. Chroma Cues would work with the CBS standardized look. It's just the rest of the open that is beyond hokey and small-market. But that's not the worst part:"In your community... where you live... it's WJZ. Maryland's News Station."

I have no idea how Pat Garrett can say that mush and keep a straight face. Why is K.C. Robertson ashamed to have Pat simply say, "From WJZ 13, Maryland's News Station, this is Eyewitness News" ???

Did K.C. Robertson acquire the computers WKBW ditched after the Scripps takeover? Because it sure looks like it.

At least it's somewhat better or worse than "From the city, to the counties, to your neighborhood. Now, it's complete coverage. It's WJZ. Maryland's News Station."

Ironically, since picking up Pat Garrett, WJZ hasn't used the words "Eyewitness News" in their opens.

    They're making WMAR look good.

  9.

Just read this from News12 LI meteorologist Samantha Augeri's facebook account:

News 12 LI isn't getting a whole new set, is it? Their current one isn't that outdated. But the way she worded it almost made me think that they were. And if they really were, they would probably have to move into the newsroom or onto a temporary set anyway, so I doubt it's a new set, probably just new equipment.

Maybe she meant new weather set?

It's just the weather center that's being replaced, I checked on their channel.
  10.

It was a rhetorical question. However do both stations still have separate newsrooms/studios/whatever? I feel its dumb branding for the Maine audience that needs things simplified branding without the complexity of virtual VHF channel numbers. They did call themselves NewsCenter 6 years and years ago. Anyways jts wacky marketing for a Gannett station.

Yes. WCSH (Portland; NewsCenter 6) is the main station and airs their own news along with WLBZ (Bangor; NewsCenter 2) at weeknights at 5 and 6. WCSH produces the state newscast (NewsCenter) at mornings, at noon, 5:30, 11:00, and weekends. WLBZ airs their own weather forecast between 5-11 pm weeknights.
  11.

Does anyone know why they don't play the music during teasers at 5:00? The only time I've heard it lately was when they tease the 6:00 show.. Don't like it

KABC also doesn't play the bumper music during their 11pm news.
  12.

I'm not sure what his name is but WABC has recently been switching between Charlie Van Dyke and someone else doing V/O's. Not sure why but they even changed the "Protect Your Children" to the new voice which had previously been Charlie's voice.

Actually, this new guy replaced Mike Lewis as the VO for the "Protect our Children" things.

And he's doing the show listings and he did the 6pm tease. He sounds super fast.
  13.

It is likely part of a new graphics package, which we have been expecting for about a month now... looks just like the KABC graphic below the bug

Am I the only person that thinks it's awfully pretentious to promote the website only as '7online' and not '7online.com'? Why don't they do something like '7on.line' or some crap like that?

If they put everything under "7online", shouldn't their hashtag be "#7online" instead of "#EyewitnessNews"?
