  1. For those if you're keeping score: (weather was done outside live in various towns powered by the CBS 2 Mobile Weather Lab with Vanessa Murdock (in Manhattan and NJ) in the AM, Lonnie Quinn (in Westport, CT) (who was pre-recorded Thursday) in the PM, John Elliot (in Newark) on Saturday.

    • Wednesday night & Thursday morning (3/12), they used the CBSN New York studio and graphics with Dick Brennan at 11pm and Chris Wragge in the AM.
    • Noon (both days): Inside Edition aired.
    • 5-6:30pm (both days): DeMarco Morgan (who used to work at WNBC from '08 to '12) anchored from KCBS' studio.
    • 9pm (both nights): Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight aired instead of CBSN New York at 7pm 9pm on WLNY.
    • 11pm/E (both nights): Pat Harvey with Jaime Maggio (Thu) & Kristin Smith (Fri) on sports anchored from KCBS' studio (while KCAL is live nearby).
    • Friday and Saturday morning: Elizabeth Cook anchored from KPIX's studio. No local news updates as they chose to do a CBS News update from DC as it would've interfere with KPIX's AM news and the national map for the local weather update.

I think should cancel the weekend morning newscast & WLNY's news this weekend and focus only on the 6 & 11 shows whoever will be producing them. (According to TitanTV, they are doing just that, News is on at 9am.)

It could been worse, luckily for the mild winter NYC had, there was no severe weather to deal with. For the KCBS/KCAL's, KPIX's and WBZ's anchors and the production crews as well, this is for you: 🏅

Here's the AM open from KPIX:

Moving off this topic to another question regarding WABC. Why are there talent opens used at Noon, 4 and 6 but not 5 and 11? Sorry if this has already been mentioned

It is a bit strange but it’s a timing preference on WABC’s part. They want a quick transition to the 5pm news to retain the 4pm audience, so they dropped the 5pm talent open years ago (they brought it back briefly during Diana’s last week anchoring).

At 11, they want to retain as many primetime viewers as possible so they get right to the news.

The 6pm is still seen as the signature newscast of record for the day, so it gets a talent open and “fresh start” rather than the quick transition.

Plus at 5p & 11p has a weather open with Lee standing at the chroma instead of him at the desk during the full weather forecast.

Another out of market O&O weather anchor is filling in tonight.

WTVD weekend meteorologist Steve Stewart is filling in for Jeff Smith.

Steve left some gifts for WABC since he helps design some of the weather graphics the O&O's use. Here's a preview of those graphics. (Hint: look at the train on the left.)

New York sister station did this same practice, I believe last year. They got rid of its branded "10/55 News at 9" for a CBSN NY-produced news at that timeslot.

Only on weeknights, weekends it's still branded "TV 10/55 News at 9".

  5. Last week Tuesday, News 12 Bronx/Brooklyn debuted the weather graphics. It's similar to WPIX's weather graphics and the other N12's don't have them yet.

However sad news for the News 12 Bronx/Brooklyn family, former lead anchor Kevin McCabe passed away today. He was with Cablevision for over 30 years and with N12BX from day one from '98 to '17.

New logo is live on News 12 Brooklyn. Looks more of a refresh rather than a rebrand.

So far only Brooklyn/The Bronx has the new graphics, the weather graphics are still the same for now. The ticker is way too small.

  7. NY1's morning meteorologist Stacy-Ann Gooden has left the station after 2 years. I don't know if former News 12 full timers Mike Favetta or Sally Ann Mosey will convert full time to NY1 and/or move chief meteorologist John Davitt (who works midday) or evening meteorologist Erick Adame to mornings or hire a new person. (No listings have been posted.)

  8. News 12 BK/BX studios are in Soundview on Soundview Ave in the Bronx. HV/WC's studios is in LI's studios in Woodbury Crossings (weekend HV/WC's newscasts are done on the LI's main set), and CT's studio is in NJ's studios inat Edison.
