  1. That look is part of updates rolled out for the Scrippscasts and "neighborhood news initiative."
  2. They've used a production cut for pre-recorded headlines for a while (I was there in the mid and late 2010's). They were using it when I was there. The previous news director thought Inergy wasn't urgent enough, so they added The Rock. Apparently, they've added the production track to it. It sounds like they've taken that cut and put it into their music computer. It was literally a computer they opened the track on and played through VLC or Windows Media Player.
  3. WBRC's news dominance isn't built around their affiliation to FOX. They don't need to emphasis it.
  4. WKBW is supposedly debuting a new set on Monday.
  5. The changes are supposed to "launch" this week at WTXL, according to an email sent by Adam Symson's to the company.
  6. I really like set graphics. The wood look elements add a timeless feeling.
  7. Stream doesn’t mesh with those graphics at all.
  8. I don't mind any of the three above. For smaller markets they're actually good, and look far better than the WWSB / WAFF package. For the sake of show pacing, I appreciate the updated honeycomb open.
  9. It also allows for meteorologist “teams” during hours upon hours of severe weather coverage.
  10. He’s a great guy, and a great hire for them.
  11. The main Huntsville transmitters are on Monte Sano... located on the east side of Huntsville. Hytop is where the National Weather Service Radar is located. It's in a region called Sand Mountain. WAFF struggles in Sand Mountain, despite having a dedicated bureau to the area. But, people living in northeast Alabama have trouble picking up 48. They've worked in the past to boost their signal over there, but nothing seemed to help. WAFF's main transmitter sits the lowest on Monte Santo, which doesn't help with the signal issue in the mountainous areas east of Huntsville. I almost guarantee you this is another attempt to fix the problem.
  12. They dropped it when they rolled out the new graphics.
  13. It looks like a large-ish room in a convention center.
  14. It allows for better timing. GMA is incredibly focused on a high story count in the 7am hour.
  15. Not sure how I feel about the names in the monitor.
  16. I agree. The previous Frankly sites (gasp) were much better than what they're leaving.
  17. I really wished it wouldn't swing around with the video bar in it. I'm not sure why, but it makes me sea-sick.
  18. Two thoughts on this package. The first is that it looks an interpretation of the the former WALA graphics; at least open anyway. The second being, it looks like something you can buy on VideoHive.
  19. They can't. At least not yet. The stations were operated as one giant feed. Currently, there's no way to interrupt one station without broadcasting it to the entire country. At least that's what we were told.
  20. A number of Scripps stations are doing this.
  21. Sounds like WAFF is still using a mix between the Rock and INergy. Just pick a package.
  22. WRTV is now handily beating WISH and WTTV in the morning.
  23. That’s not a bad thing.
  24. I saw where Gray is upgrading the Raycom stations to VIZrt. That could be the reason behind the change.
  25. I actually don’t mind this one.
