That video actually proves the opposite. You can do a lot with it if you throw a little effort into it. You’ve never really been very clear exactly what you want it to do...

I want a number more layers, light flares, 3D animations with models of multiple objects and several Mograph effect, custom transition mattes, a variety of textures, etc.

It all has to do with flatness, that's all in Europe, England, Latin America they love this package its viewed as modern and revolutionary. We just have in America great 3D blocky dimensional and now with these flat graphics packages, its like we're saying to our graphics package designers "You can do better" I think the reason for these flat graphics packages is for organization in heavy-loads of information.

They require less render time and fewer design staff. Let's be clear.

  3. Is WTSP seriously switching to this logo?

Weirdly enough, I use the Firefox app to view that site, I see the circle 3. When I use Chrome, I see the old logo 🤷‍♂️

I wonder what the reasoning is for holding on to their layouts from Dispatch.

Although I'm not holding my breath much, I personally would prefer that they keep the Dispatch layout.   I really like the way Dispatch did their sites--especially WBNS.

It's the GMs decision about when/if to launch that... Part of the business integration process. I feel that, though, the Dispatch layout is superior and I think both GMs have that opinion as well.

As much as some are skeptical of Kim (not saying I am skeptical of him) honestly I think that if he gets an opportunity he should make a tender offer of taking over Tegna because now that I think about it I have to question their first quarter performance here how in the world can you have a "strong" 1st quarter results when:

    1. Tegna is trading at just above $10 a share

    2. Tegna has rebuffed at every buyout offer available over the last year and 3+ months

    3. Furlough your own employees in the middle of the crisis

Clearly worthy of being called out by people and I can't imagine Kim being the only one questioning the first quarter results and if he is something is clearly wrong with that picture.

I'm starting to wonder too if the goal of the board at Tegna is to drive the company into bankruptcy? With this virus I think so. Without the virus I would seriously doubt that Tegna would go bankrupt but the furloughs coupled with this certain virus is leading me to believe that Tegna, unless they get taken over will go bankrupt.

Their performance is the result of strong profit margins, but not better content. You can still be profitable and not provide any value to anyone other than current shareholders. They aren't providing a superior product, just lower costs.

Tegna's value is $10 a share and they're furloughing workers because the coronavirus has wreaked havoc on everyone. Everyone is down. I'm not sure what that has to do with the board votes (of which Tegna employees get to vote in).

    And yet... https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tegna-announces-strong-preliminary-first-100000110.html

    Quote

"Estimated GAAP net income is expected to be $86 million, up 17 percent, and diluted earnings per share is expected to be $0.39, up 15 percent. This performance reflects the strong growth in Adjusted EBITDA, partially offset by higher intangible amortization expense and interest expense related to acquisitions in 2019."

  7. I, too, am really skeptical of Kim, but the facts are clear. Tegna's stock is around $10 a share. They posted strong first quarter profits but are still furloughing workers. Management continues to make unpopular decisions and they continue to undervalue their top 20 assets. This is a huge issue for shareholders. While it may make a sweet deal for any potential M&A who see what the raw station assets can be spun into, it means persistent undervalue of station employees. This is the biggest thing that drives me crazy about capitalism. Put your employees first and everything else will follow.

That seems remarkably short sighted for CBS to do, but in the current climate - and especially if there's no football in the Fall - I could see it.

Guessing they think reverse comp is more lucrative, but, again, in the current climate, I wouldn't bank on it.

Short sighted? That's the long game. They are switching to a pure-play content creation model because distribution is no longer lucrative.

Here's my thinking if Disney were to sell ABC:

I can only think of a few companies that would have of any interest in buying ABC

    Discovery

    Liberty Media

    AT&T (Warner Media)

The only other option I can see is the split of Disney where some of the former 21CF assets (i.e. 20th Century Pictures, Cable Channels (including ESPN) all make up Disney while ABC, Freeform, O&Os, Some of the TV studio productions (such as DADT) it's news and sports divisions all make up whatever it'd become under ABC

The bigger wild card in all of this is going to be sports under any scenario ABC is going to have to rebuild its sports division from scratch which would mean continuing the partnership with ESPN until a Sports Department can be reestablished.

Uh, Apollo? Allen Media? AT&T is conflicted, so that's out.

I can definitely not. If the other Big 4 networks have O&Os, why not ABC? Axing stations that are #1 in their markets? An idiotic decision.

And yet, CBS is looking to spin off their entire O&O television group. This is what the ViacomCBS merger was about.

Does stolen logos count as knockoffs?

I'm asking this because KXPI-LD in Pocatello, Idaho stole the logos of FOUR other Fox stations! (KSWB, WNYW, WTTG and WAGA)

    KXPI_Fox_5_logo.thumb.png.a145908ff716c19f4f7c57db557d19e0.png        KXPI_Vertical_Logo.thumb.png.3c32338ef7a1540a0f02006cf0d26887.png

No. This isn't a knockoff. It's a standard. This is like saying WNEM's graphics are a CBS O&O knockoff because it's the same package. Fox stations around the county use this logo we call it the 'Fox Box'. If you're going to blame KXPI for using it, then blame the dozens of other Fox affiliates who've used it as well. I will point out that the biggest inconsistency here is '5' font.

I know THEY could do it, but these reporters envelop themselves in city roads and traffic patterns and that benefits the viewers, imo. But, this was obviously a local decision. Surprising that something like this would come from WTHR.

It's not a full-time gig though and costs the stations money. Also with the map technology available, anyone can create a traffic report. It's better to offload it onto someone with fewer duties.

Interesting, I wonder how Gray would run 9NEWS & Channel 20 (KTVD) ?     It might be a good change for the two stations.    They would gain new sister stations, KKCO (11 NEWS), KJCT-LP (NEWS 8 ) In Grand Junction & KKTV in Colorado Springs/Pueblo.

The branding wouldn't get any better though.

The execution was off-key in terms of its pacing (to illustrate: "...and the world"), but otherwise it's stylistically in line with the prevalent "friendlier" tone seen on many local newscast domestic and abroad. I mentioned this on Discord, but Josh Goodman's voice work for WBNS in 2016 is a good example of this idea.

I would love love LOVE to hear Deidre Goodwin, voice of 880 WCBS (which for some reason I love).
