  1. Well, they're going about it the right way, having her as a fill-in.
  2. THIS ISN'T A LIST THREAD!!! Every market has at least one giant of broadcasting that served as the voice of the region in the 20th century. We get it. Not to get all bitchy about it.
  3. I would guess we'll see Jerry or Mike tonight, but Phil will be back in at 4pm tomorrow and in for Tracy on Friday. It turns out he took his 90 year old father, a world traveller, to Vietnam and Cambodia.
  4. Like "reading news in the dark" out or "off the air" out?

I think we can all agree that the list is long.
  6. Yeah, David mentioned on Friday when she filed a report in-studio that she'd be on the desk this weekend. He did not, however, make any implication that it's permanent. I still think it won't be til after the holidays, and I wouldn't even rule out them going long-term with no formal anchor or even a return to separate anchors on separate nights, a practice dumped only 3 or so years ago.
  7. I wasn't watching this morning, so I don't know. I awoke to GMA and was out the door before 8, but I am DVRing the shows tonight.
  8. She could start by the end of the year, capacity unknown. Jerry didn't know but gets it, and is not getting forced out. His contract is til 2016, so they COULD work with 6 for like a year, but speculation in the comments is that Phil's not coming back. "I'll now be the second best looking." -Taft
  9. They have been using some of the V.2 full screens over the last few days. Either way...'bout time. The opens better get fixed, but I wonder what they do with the theme, as the station is under new management since the 2012 makeover.
  10. WBBM morning anchor Kris Gutierrez will be leaving the CBS-owned station in February after almost 3 years. He will be moving back to Texas, where he was previously a Fox News correspondent. (Behind Paywall) http://www.robertfeder.com/2014/12/10/morning-anchor-kris-gutierrez-leaving-cbs-2/#more-5932
  11. Okay, so tonight Ravi said that Phil is far away, some place warmer.
  12. Yeah, I'm really warming up to him, too. He was a little stiff when he first joined the station last year, but has improved in his delivery and demeanor since then.
  13. "Phil will be off for a couple of weeks." I wouldn't be shocked if Phil has some personal days stocked up, and the station wants him to burn them off by the end of the year, before he will work a few holiday shifts, himself.
  14. With college football winding down, ABC stations across the eastern U.S. are moving their Saturday evening newscasts back an hour. Two minutes ago..."From Chicago's #1 News, ABC 7 Eyewitness News at 6 starts right now." Someone didn't get the memo.
  15. Maybe he's doing his taxes early.
  16. Yeah. Yeah. I'd say so. That's how it usually works.
  17. According to Linda Yu, Sylvia Perez was a panelist on WYCC's 'In the Loop' news/talk show last night. I haven't looked for it online, but I can't imagine that it would be hard to find. Update: WYCC is God-awful at posting video to their website, but the episode is airing again Saturday morning (12/6) at 1AM and Sunday evening (12/7) at 6:30PM.
  18. She's fresh from Florida, and seemingly just freelancing at this point... http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/tv/tv-guy/os-renee-stoll-departing-wftv-20141002-post.html
  19. I've met Mike a couple times, but I've always found him to be more than pleasant. But, you never know.
  20. I'm guessing that NBC 5 has formally passed on rehiring her since the initial Feder report. At this point, the ball is officially in ABC 7's court, as WMAQ's refusal was the only potential hiccup.
  21. I do recall that the 'World News Webcast' was regularly posted at like 3 o'clock (Eastern). Ultimately, like the old webcast and the later years of the on-air news briefs, the 'Facecast' will largely serve as a promotional vehicle for the flagship.
  22. It looks like the 'WN Webcast' of the Gibson era is being reincarnated under the Muir administration, albeit on a different forum... http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/world-news-tonight-launches-facebook-newscast_b247406
  23. Eh, I'm not overly impressed. I like him as a correspondent, but like Cecilia Vega, there's something a little too dramatic and rehearsed in Llamas' delivery. Yes, David Muir does it, too, but he's mastered the art. I'd still rather see Jarvis or Pitts in the permanent role, but that seems increasingly unlikely.
