  1. Wait a minute...Good Afternoon America existed, it wasn't just something made up for this discussion? Of course they need a pilot. The first version went the Regis route of a male/female duo, but with Josh gone, there's a good chance they'd be going with a female ensemble (I know it doesn't fill a quota, but let's say Lara, Amy, Ginger and/or Sara).
  2. They deleted it, but WABC asked on Twitter who the Seahawks will play in the Super Bowl, "#Broncos or #Patriots". Yeah, about that.
  3. SUCCESS! I'll have to try again Monday to get the main open, as the signal went bad for a few moments. But, in the meantime... The talent open: [yt]GlKW-XP513w[/yt] The 7:30 rejoin: [yt]EYg9aH-ijL0[/yt]
  4. A new 7:30 rejoin debuted tonight, recorded with Bill Ratner, and (in a first) using the Stimulus traffic/lottery bumper instead of the standard short open. I like it.
  5. Windows Movie Maker. No big frills. Oh, and that 4 o'clock open was actually captured off the online stream, not the tuner, but what I've picked off the antenna so far looks good, too.
  6. You made the recommendation, right? Either way, it's the WinTV-HVR 955Q. It's working well, so far. I have it hooked up to a set-top antenna sitting next to my basement window, and I'm picking up all the primaries just fine, save for WBBM. I'm going to record The U-cast tonight, and get the clean opens up ASAP. I'll work on the morning opens in due time, but dang it, I'm going to have to get myself out of bed to do it.
  7. He will REFUSE to keep the text within the boxes. Guaranteed.
  8. I'm just going to mention it here, since this forum is the primary reason why I got into posting videos on YouTube; I just got a new laptop, desktop, television tuner and antenna. That means I'm going to do my best to get better copies of various opens, themes, etc. over the next several weeks. Skipping audio and spotty video quality plagued many of the other videos I put online. So, to lead off (mainly as a tester), I finally, after 15 months, captured and uploaded the top of the hour open of 'Eyewitness News at 4PM'... [yt]WukJf-NsLrs[/yt]
  9. Hosea's in for Alan, so I think we have our first clue at the new fill-in hierarchy.
  10. The funny thing is WGN wouldn't even have to do much to stretch this current set another few years, instead of making a bunch of quick repairs when the sky keeps falling. Just look at what channel 7 did; they switched out the backdrops, fixed up the lighting, and gave themselves a bit of an extension so their set can hit the decade mark without looking like it's in shambles.
  11. Other way around, bud... [yt]f86Xd7lgUek[/yt]
  12. I always thought it launched in '04, so I wouldn't know what month in '05.
  13. I would say they're more ignored than neglected. So long as they don't lose/waste money, Disney gives them a lot of leeway.
  14. It's serviceable, but my goodness, it is bland.
  15. I looked back a ways, and it appears that this little Facebook news brief by Eyewitness News debuted today. Only 39 seconds long, this quick update (visually branded as ABC7 To Go, with no verbal mention) features a very flat & simplistic, yet familiar & attractive graphical look, not unlike the above promo. Whether or not it turns into a full package for the main newscasts, I highly doubt it. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152678976134091&permPage=1
  16. Well, hopefully Bill is okay, and they have this fixed by next week.
  17. The show led off with 7 at 7, 7 headlines, followed by a weather check. Sure enough, the bug rotates between the 2 logos.
  18. They ran a promo on WCIU around 6:38 for the news, structured much in the style of the 4pm plug that airs through the afternoon.
  19. I'm wondering if (unlike when EWN S1 debuted for mornings) this really is a placeholder move, as Ratner has been off the last week or two, with Rose doing promos and stuff. Now, that might signal to some that they're dropping Ratner, but they wouldn't be using him (and paying him) for the other opens and stuff.
  20. In what just might be a first anywhere, WTTW 11 Chicago (PBS) has sold the naming rights to...their anchorman. Phil Ponce, host of 'Chicago Tonight' will now be known as The Alexandra and John Nichols Chief Correspondent and Host. The Nichols have been longtime trustees of WTTW and parent company Window to the World Communications, Inc. No word, though, on how much this lousy money grab will bring in for the station. 21. The new morning talent open debuted with Terrell this morning, and Roger Rose is back as voiceover. He does put a little more power in his narrations than before, but he's still just okay. The big issue I have is that Bill Ratner's still doing the short opens. It would be one thing if Rose did mornings and Ratner did evenings, but in the same broadcast? Ugh.
  22. ...And then Tomasulo did sports at 9, and Bob was just as surprised as we were. Pat claims it's the only way he can be on the same broadcast with Jim Ramsey, anymore.
  23. He'll do Hawks coverage like once a year, but the Bulls is a first. Rich King was out last night with Dave Eanet filling in, so I couldn't begin to guess who'll anchor tonight- but wait, where was Pat, at the UC (I think they're at home) or at Bradley Place?
  24. I was mainly referring to current teams, but yes, the 11am duo lasted (most of) that run, but only, haha, included Tracy Butler for 18 years. If you don't include Sylvia Perez, the 4pm crew will hit 10 years in may. The team of Joel Daly, Linda, Jerry, and JR was together from like '85/86 (I think Mike Adamle did sprts for awhile at launch in '84) until 2004, when Mike moved off weekends.
  25. The Krash/Brock/Taft/JR 6pm team has been together since Floyd Kalber retired in '98, unless you count Goudie since he's been in the talent open since 2011. The 5 and 10 teams go back to the spring of '03, and could theoretically pass the morning team depending on when Jerry retires. Either way, none of these teams can hold a candle to WGN's weekend crew, intact for 20 years.
