  1. High speed rail in Texas? Yikes, some things don't change... Some WXII from 1993...the tease and beginning of an 11pm show. (The tease bed is Conner-tastic!)
  2. That WJZ opening graphic is supposed to be a tight zoom on a CG model of their Television Hill candelabra-type tower.
  3. KSAZ promos from April 1998:
  4. That "ATV News Report" logo could work today with only a few changes...
  5. Yes, that's correct.
  6. The close to that WFMZ show includes something unusual: a credit for the news theme! It was written by Mario Acerra.
  7. What is the WHOA promo theme? It was used in Brazil by SBT for most of the mid-late 90s and early 2000s (except for the CBS Telenotícias tie-in era)... The WJHG open carries some hints of WMAR from a couple years earlier, too. WTVY had no business using that 80s world map animation in 1995 (though there's also a hint of WEAR ripoff in that 5pm talent open).
  8. That was introduced with the TVbD look: This is definitely a different 3, not the Myriad numbers KSN used in the late 90s.
  9. I find the slogan choice laughable. Fox rescued this station more than a lot of people realize. Heck right before the affiliation switch WHBQ had just two daily newscasts at 6 and 10.
  10. Wow, that KODE open is really, really underwhelming. It's barely an open! (But sheesh, Joplin material!) Also, who wore it better, WHBQ or KCRA? P.S. "The Look of a Leader" has never been trademarked. I guess someone was jealous of "Where the News Comes First"...
  11. A WTMJ news update from May 5, 1985:
  12. That's definitely another rendition with a more 80s instrumentation. It dates to 1988. The newscast continues here: Also...a snippet of KTVK... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=9G_rctDSe0Y;t=359 That clip also has a snippet of a KYMA news report and a KYEL telethon. None of the other videos has significant TV material.
  13. An edition of syndicated agriculture news show AgDay in 1989:
  14. Remember when KPNX was good? ewjxn remembers.
  15. KHQ in 1988. Finally figured out the voiceover on this is Al Vanik: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=-IIB4ZMNWbU;t=1622 KPRC in March 1995:
  16. Avant seems like it would have been very non-traditional and potentially difficult to maintain. It also was one of the few virtual set newscast concepts of the 90s. Sometimes I wonder if what we have never actually went out on air, even though it looks to be a fully-formed newscast from one date. I can easily see a turnover at ND and someone junking Avant as just too much. That's occurred to me, too. Yet how, then, did they get an entire WRBL newscast or newscast demo to be made, with their anchors, news stories, and even (at the end) a shot of the anchors in front of the virtual set with a real desk?
  17. Those are some strange Prime News cuts alright... That's definitely the original "monitors" pack. I think it might have been made at EGAD.
  18. The 2016 theme is Concentrix - the link you put up for that episode does have credits stating such. The credits on this 2012 episode also give Concentrix:
  19. Now this is too much good stuff! The WYFF bump really shares a sound with the contemporaneous WEAR pack from Hummingbird. The WSOC/WCCB open is something I've never seen, and that WBTV pack is solid stuff for 1994! And North Carolina Now's open is straight out of a sitcom!
  20. A warning to anyone who wants to watch the above: it isn't very much about the broadcast stations. Most of the time is spent on their video production arm. Also, a clip of KDBC News 4 from 1991 featuring a break bumper with the KCBS-WNEV-WVTM theme:
  21. And here's that KTSM newscast. The lead stories: a shooting at a Circle K, a grisly discovery at a restaurant being demolished, and a young probate judge in New Mexico.
  22. That's actually *two* days after ewjxn's clip. How bizarre they'd both appear on the same day. From El Paso to Tulsa, here's KTUL's Oklahoma's News 8 from 1994:
  23. Those were controversial at the time for showing the KTVK sports personalities chumming it up with ASU coaches. I've seen the :60 but not the :30.
  24. KTSM material from 1984. The news open shows up tomorrow...
  25. Are you sure that's May 14? There's a mention that "spring break starts tomorrow" for ASU in that KNXV newscast, and there's other March mentions. It seems to be March, not May. Also, the GMC commercial at 13:09 features Mystery Male Voiceover! I've never heard his voice on an actual commercial.
