I'd heard of the Kansas Television Network, but I had never heard "ABC Kansas" before.
-
A few years later, in 1998, KAKE attempted the network branding of "ABC Kansas" and deemphasized its channel number...here are some promos from that era. News remained "KAKE News".

The only problem is that "One Quad City" debuted in 1984. I caught this newspaper excerpt and I'm glad I did: "I like Channel 8's new theme song. It's catchy, upbeat, exciting even. I like their "One Quad-City" theme and the billboards that go along with it." The NMSA progression for this station is absolutely shot as it has the 1989 use of The Best News of All listed for 1984-86. I wonder if this goes with it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=gegaO-y0XXU;t=1550 Or if it's part of an earlier campaign... But it seems the fall of '84 was when One Quad-City debuted... (The article mentions a "San Diego research firm" that is obviously Peters). The context of the entire campaign seems to be trying to get the region of a bunch of cities to think of itself as one. -
Nice to hear additional cuts of the KAKE 1993 theme... Speaking of mid-90s KAKE...

I've realized something. Many stations that used the newscast title Newsight were Peters clients, including: -KODE -WHP (1988-90 during the "It's for Good" image — looking at it in hindsight, a lot of that was rolled back upon replacement) -WTXL (as shown in the 1984 newspaper ad) -WWNY WWNY 1988 can't possibly be Peters, can it? -
Now that we have KSNT (though with painfully wrong music), so begins the search for one of my holy grails: the rest of the Hatch look of the mid-80s, with Welch graphics and set and potentially Peters music. Where shall I find it first, Salt Lake City or Wichita? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFYCcIcYp1k

Well, they did at least come up with the brand at Peters, as it's on their Facebook page. Well, Mr. NMSA isn't putting things in without a high degree of confidence. I'd suspect it's that, too, or something non-news. -
The close at the end of this WIBW clip is the same theme as what KNDU and KNDO used in the mid-80s:

There were at least two "A New Vision" campaigns (the other was for KNTV). -
What's the music from this KTSM close in 1984?
-
To me, Chaparral Pro screams "I haven't bothered to look for good fonts and what came with [insert Adobe software] here is fine". Same with Myriad and Minion.

It'd be great! That medley is killer and obligatory listening! I've never heard ANY of the KFOR 4 Strong or KTSP The Vision campaigns — the full image song from The Vision is something I've wanted for years. There are additional campaigns in it... "It's WHP, TV 21, It's for Good" (WHP 1989 — sing the line!) "The Spirit of Joplin and 12 Together" (oh my gosh, really, Joplin?) "This is What Dayton is All About" "There's No Place Quite Like Iowa" "Look for Yours, Look for TV 12" (not sure where, probably KCOY 12 is Yours) The spoiler tag contains the broadcast TV portion of the client list, for if/when that site goes down: [spoiler=Peters Client List] WPIX TV New York City, NY WJBK TV Detroit, MI WPTA TV Fort Wayne, IN WAGT TV Augusta, GA WATE TV Knoxville, TN WOWK TV Charleston, WV WSPA TV Spartanburg, SC WDAF TV Kansas City, KS WITI TV Milwaukee, WI WOKR TV Rochester, NY WOLF TV Scranton, PA WECA TV Tallahassee, FL WWNY TV Watertown, NY WTVA TV Tupelo, MS WGXA TV Macon, GA WEHT TV Evansville, IN WPGH TV Pittsburgh, PA WSPD TV Toledo, OH WIBW TV Topeka, KS WXLT TV Sarasota, FL WCPX TV Orlando, FL WXIA TV Atlanta, GA WKZO TV Kalamazoo, MI WMBB TV Panama City, FL WTAJ TV Altoona, PA WEAR TV Pensacola, FL WBTW TV Florence, SC WNCT TV Greenville, NC WVLA TV Baton Rouge, LA WTXL TV Tallahassee, FL WHAG TV Hagerstown, MD KARK TV Little Rock, AR KHON TV Honolulu, HI KPNX TV Phoenix, AZ KUTV Salt Lake City, UT KHQ TV Spokane, WA KBAK TV Bakersfield, CA KLAS TV Las Vegas, NV KVIA TV El Paso, TX KID TV Idaho Falls, ID KTVO Ottumwa, IA KNTV San Jose, CA KTVL Medford, OR KECI TV Missoula, MT KSHO TV Las Vegas, NV KAMR TV Amarillo, TX [KEYC] TV Mankato, MN KOA TV Denver, CO KWCH TV Wichita, KS KOAM TV Joplin, MO KCEN TV Waco, TX KCOY TV [santa Maria, CA] (list says OKC, but there is a real KCOY campaign in here) KCST TV San Diego, CA KTSP TV Phoenix, AZ KMST TV Monterey, CA KFYR TV Bismarck, MT KOIN TV Portland, OR KOLO TV Reno, NV KODE TV Joplin, MO KULR TV Billings, MT KOLN TV Lincoln, NE KTWO TV Casper, WY WCKT TV Miami, FL WHIO TV Dayton, OH WTVD TV Raleigh, NC WJBF TV Augusta, GA WLKY TV Louisville, KY WAGA TV Atlanta, GA KOVR TV Sacramento, CA [WTOV] TV Steubenville, OH WXMI TV Grand Rapids, MI WYFF TV Greenville, SC WTVM TV Columbus, GA WBNG TV Binghamton, NY KMGH TV Denver, CO KSNT TV Topeka, KS KGGM TV Albuquerque, NM KENS TV San Antonio, TX KFOR TV Oklahoma, OK WCIV TV Charleston, SC WBAY TV Green Bay, WI KZAZ TV Tucson, AZ WMBD TV Peoria, IL WJKW TV Cleveland, OH WNGE TV Nashville, TN WIIC TV Pittsburgh, PA KWHD TV Denver, CO WLWT TV Cincinnati, OH WEVV TV Evansville, IN Greater Rochester Cable Rochester, NY ["WGRC"/News 5 Rochester] WCHS TV Charleston, WV -

Also, I strongly suspect WOWK is 1996. If they did Leading the Way for WBNG, they had to have done "13 Believes in You" for WOWK which has a massive graphic similarity and was in the same station group... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=x8MR8Nlfor0;t=889 -

I don't think they ever did. The image change went hand-in-hand with the callsign change on April 22, 1990. To see "4 Strong, KTVY" though shocked me. In re: WCPX, 6 Believes in You...it may not have a news theme: -

WAGT and KWCH are correct. Images on FB (they have small images of some of their logos on their FB!) add a few more: WBNG: Leading the Way (introduced in 1995 with new logo) WSPA: In the Center of it All ("1992") WEHT: "We're Always Home" "WGRC" (News 5 Rochester, then News 9, now Spectrum News there): "A Step Beyond" KBAK: 29 Strong KWHD: The Light (non-news obviously) WCPX: 6 Believes in You WIBW: 13, The Original (almost certainly "1989") WTVM: A Special Place WPGH: Friend of the Family KCOY: "12 is Yours" (mid-late 80s... KCOY 1988???) KNTV: "A New Vision" KTWO: "K2, The Free Spirit" WTXL: "This is our place" (mid-80s?) WQAD: early-80s Active 8 KTSP: The Vision (YES!) And I'm saving the best for last... KFOR: 4 Strong. The image for this should raise every eyebrow in this room. EDIT: There's a few more! KAMR - It's 4 Sure (late 80s/early 90s, no video footage exists) WTAJ - 10 On the Move WOWK - 13 Believes in You (1996 - see below) -

...! Was not expecting the KGGM or WBTW packs to be Peters! (I think we knew KARK, and I had discovered WHO.) I am extremely intrigued by the listings for KPNX and KTSP. I think at this point, barring an 83-84 surprise, the only KTSP campaign that fits the bill is The Vision. -
The TV-ARK update (which is rather extensive — the backend needed to be overhauled too) won't come online for a few months. They've also been doing 50fps remasters of all their UK clips so it'll be a treat anyway. However, the international stuff might be at increased risk. Some of the materials (a batch of different TV station promos from 1993 including the only promo I've ever sen with the KOCO plain 5) are also in the NewsActive3 collection. Our own Roly (NCFLMedia) actually asked them on FB about some older clips, and here's what was said: "We are aiming to recapture them however we don't have the original tapes for all of them.. The ones the size of a postage stamp made with real video will probably be missed"

I've never seen that EQ Vance graphics package, either! And based on the update open you posted...did he do the KCBS Action News "For All of Southern California" set!?!?!?

That 3D animation positively screams Andrew Welch. KSNW had a virtual set in place. I kind of think very similar-looking KUTV might have had something like this... They *were* sister stations under the Hatch family, too, and this logo animation at the end screams early Welch: And this is a Welch virtual set, no doubt:

The 1997 Television Factbook says K66FN Salt Lake City signed on March 1, 1996, owned by Rolando Collantes. (A Salt Lake Tribune article suggests the sign-on was at least a month earlier.) This station is today K39JS-D, an Azteca América outlet simulcasting with KSVN-CD 25 in Ogden. The callsign came from KSVN 730 AM which has been a Spanish-language station for nearly three decades now but previously was known as "K-7". You're seeing KSVN in 2001 (the mention of the 154th anniversary of Pioneer Day seals the year). Collantes is the owner of Azteca Broadcasting Corporation, the current licensee, which has no relation to TV Azteca itself other than a business partnership and a shared name. His stations hooked up with la televisora del Ajusco in 2002, dropping Univision. In 2004 and 2005, they carried live Spanish translations of the LDS General Conference. Of all the Utah rarities I've wanted to see, this was one I didn't even know existed!
