  1. WXOW clips from 1988. The theme was used by KTVQ beginning late in 1988 as well: I'm beginning to think KTVQ 1990 and WBAY 1989 are one theme. There's also this clip, which is noteworthy. Can you identify the theme? (I know what it is.)
  2. The forecast isn't good for WPSD meteorologist Tori Shaw-Smoyer, who has been arrested for running a pot-growing operation at her home. Her contract was to expire at the end of the month and not be renewed.
  3. Yes, and the "Idaho 8" package appeared in their 1990 demo. It looks like KIFI added quite a few new elements and modifications. It gets better, too... WHO...in 1974! There are also KCCI fragments, a couple of fragments, and home video.
  4. KIFI bloopers from the 90s. In the second half of the video you can see a close theme: KIFI had a heavily modified TVbD package, it seems. I wish there was a full open. Sounds like a Gari theme, maybe News Watch? The close seems out of place.
  5. WGGB with the Great News Package and "squares" look, c. 1987/88: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=8PLfhxTt2m4;t=721
  6. Interesting to see how this was "adapted" in the immediate aftermath of the NBC switch.
  7. I have a longer cut but don't know who composed it: (That clip also shows the absolute final months of CBS TeleNoticias — the Brazil version — using the CBS special presentation music!)
  8. KING in 1997: And WIVB's PM Magazine, 1979. Who did the jingle at 2:33? "And That's Why We're Four"
  9. WKCF 10pm (from WCPX), November 1993: WCCO, March 1987. Note the WCCO "Real Radio" promo at 1:43 using Tuesday16: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OD35FjaTs-A And in this one, another WCCO radio promo at 19:00: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ion10GuE1oE
  10. A change of language for one meteorologist — he's going from KTUZ in Oklahoma to KERO, where he'll do English and Spanish-language reports.
  11. They're selling a station cluster but they can only own the NBC and one other. What do you expect?
  12. Yes, that's correct.
  13. First on TVNT Three television stations in the northwestern US are being sold. Frontier Radio Management/Jason Wolff is selling KPVI and KXTF in Idaho and KVIQ in Eureka, CA, and their dependent LPTVs, to Michigan-based NBI Holdings, which is owned by Brian Brady. Wolff will maintain a minority interest in the licensees of the stations. There does not seem to be a purchase price; rather, Wolff is hoping that Brady can aid in paying the stations' third-party debt and performing capital improvements. (See KVIQ application) A company owned by the buyer and seller is in the process of buying WABG Greenwood, MS.
  14. Last week marked the end of the line for the last newscast on a MundoMax station. Yes, even in Miami, this can happen. The last newscast aired on January 29, and 25 to 30 staff were cut. An inside source blames a financial row between the station and the network — which is rather easy to see. Caracol owns the station, RCN the network. They're bitter rivals in Colombia. A new affiliate deal was signed, but it brought in much less revenue and that required the station to make cuts.
  15. So the Tegna stations will be on a new platform but Gannett will retain Presto?
  16. KEYC's 6pm news in 1988. This is a previously unknown cut of the Peters custom package they were using at this time: Speaking of which, here are some elements of the package: There's more vintage footage, including their 10pm open from the News Series 2001 era:
  17. WTHR in January 1986 with the WBNS Roger Tallman theme:
  18. KICU "Prime News" in 1993:
  19. WISC's morning news celebrated 25 years by replaying their original open: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeSJGqNWqyo The theme is the Sheldon Elias theme composed for WISC based off of WBBM's 1988 theme (WHTM also had one of its own, and the two themes inspired a separate KFDA version from another composer).
  20. KVCR did so today.
  21. ...And now they've added their Puerto Rico stations, located in San Juan, Ponce and Aguadilla, to the pot as well.
  22. Spanish Broadcasting System will participate in the auction, making available stations in Houston and Miami.
  23. Yup, Sean McLaughlin. He was hired more to replace Kent Dana than to do weather. He had been at KPNX then went to do weather for NBC Weather Plus and MSNBC (he often appeared on dayside programs).
  24. WWLP 1991 (News Series 2001): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl4uQdtHZv8
  25. Jacky's got loads of new material, but perhaps the most intriguing is KSN from the late 90s: The package is News Station from Gari. There's also KRDO from 1987. The theme sounds like something KTXL had used earlier in the 80s: Also, KSHB with Third Coast... in 1996!?
